Feline Fact Friday ... Do you know all this?

Cats can start mating at only 4 months of age - a mere 16 weeks‼️ This is serious stuff here!

▶️ They don't have a choice in the matter. ◀️

They don't carry condoms in their pockets or have birth control pills by their sink in the bathroom. They don't decide to wait until they're married. They don't have parents to teach them to wait until the right time. They don't have the freedom to choose abortion. They don't go through menopause.

🔹 They will mate with their siblings.
🔹 Sons will mate with mothers.
🔹 Male cats will travel miles to find a female in heat.
🔹 Female cats can escape, even if they are indoors.

🚩 Cats reproduce over & over AND over until they die OR until someone is kind enough to have them spayed or neutered.

Won't you help them❓

If you have a pet cat, please make a plan to have that cat spayed or neutered. Google low-cost clinics in your area or rescues that might be able to help. Get on the waitings lists now.

If you are feeding stray or feral cats, they need your help, too! Traps can usually be borrowed from shelters or rescues. Be sure to find a vet or clinic that will work with trapped cats and find out their policies ahead of time.

RESCUES - MITTENS NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!

In Baltimore County, MD: URGENT: Cat with Lodged Bullet Needs Rescue ASAP

Baltimore County Animal Services is seeking urgent rescue placement for Mittens. Mittens is a 3 year old, female that was an owner surrender.
Mittens is reportedly paralyzed in the hind end. Radiographs were sent over with Mittens (attached) which showed a slug in her back.

Mittens is able to drag her hind end and our vet was not able to find any wounds on her back, indicating this is an older injury.

During exam, Mittens was found to have a scabbed abrasion left dorsal thoracic area – likely entry point of bullet. Radiographs provided show bullet in thoracic spine and compression of at least 2 vertebral spaces which is likely causing spinal cord compression and paralysis in hind. Deep pain present in hind legs and normal withdrawal reflexes present

Since Mittens is suffering and needs more medical care than can be performed at the shelter, rescue is needed today for her. If you are interested in pulling Mittens, or have any questions, please let us know!

Orbit was spayed yesterday! Thanks to Fifty Shades of Furr in Hagerstown,MD She is doing great so far. Lots of resting today and enjoying time away from all the other crazy cats. The 4 kittens that were surrendered to us yesterday are adjusting wonderfully. They are enjoying their meal time and playtime.
