Calling all local IronDog clients. I have a little girl that I believe was dumped in my neighborhood some time back. I did some community postings with no response. We had a difficult time catching her but Rienna finally did!!! Great job Rienna!!!
I very much want to keep her myself but my wife said we have too many dogs already and said no. She was caught on April 6th, the same day my dad passed away. Between my dad’s passing and her personality I’ve named her “Spirit,” I hope her new owners will consider keeping the name. I’ve checked her for a microchip and she doesn’t have one. She is a young female who I estimate to be about a year old. She has some very clean young adult teeth. She is shy around strangers as she’s still trying to figure things out but she blends well and plays nicely with other dogs! She rides incredibly quiet and is very well mannered in a car. She keeps a very clean kennel and she’s been in my house on many occasions. She’s never had an accident. She was pretty thin when we first got her but we’ve got her back to what her ideal weight probably is and that’s 21lbs. She will need some patience as her new owner is trying to figure her out but she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. I don’t want to just give her to anybody, it’s got to be a perfect fit and a forever home! I really care about this little dog and it really saddens me I have to let her go! Please let me know if you’re interested! BTW, if I had to guess she’s probably a Aussie and Husky mix but that’s just a guess. Let’s find this baby a home! Hopefully an IronDog client so we still get to see her! 😍🥰😍🥰

Arizona has changed the date for the 2024 Primary Election. It has been moved forward to July 30th, 2024 instead of August 6th. This also changed the filing deadline for a candidates to submit their petition signature forms. If you live in my precinct (Vail, Corona De Tucson, Sahuarita, Amado, Arivaca or Sassabe) and have not yet signed to put me back on the ballot, please do so! This electronic signing should take less than a minute of your time. It requires, first and last name, DOB and drivers license number. The electronic filing is done through the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office. Please click the link below and thank you for your support!

I wouldn’t describe myself as a cat person, however a couple of years ago, I adopted several feral cats from a local rescue to keep the mice population down around my horses and the barn. All of the cats I adopted apparently didn’t want to live in such close proximity to a dog kennel and decided to relocate to neighbor’s houses. I tried adoption one last time and wound up with the most amazing kitty. Despite having been a feral cat, she is now completely tame. Unphased by the kennel and the barking dogs etc. she has made her home here and is very well taken care of. She follows me around the yard, lets me pick her up and hold her. She even comes when called, I adore her. With these subfreezing temps I worry about all of my animals and those entrusted in our care. With temps hitting 24 degrees tonight, we brought Marmalade into the heated kennel where she will be warm and confined until the morning. She didn’t mind it one bit. Despite all of her meowing, the dogs are remarkably quiet. Maybe because she spends so much time lying just outside the fence line and they’re somewhat used to her. Here’s pics of something you don’t normally see at IronDog Kennels.🥰😺🥰😺
By the way, she’s a great hunter and earns her keep!

August, September and October are the deadliest months of the year for rattlesnake bites. Snakes are on the move and feeding in preparation for winter. After tremendous success with the rattlesnake and toad avoidance classes we just had a couple of weeks ago, many people have reached out and asked if we were going to be doing it again. We are considering hosting another class on Saturday, September 23. This is not yet set in stone because we have to arrange this with the snake handlers. If you are interested please respond to this post, send me a private message or give me a call. If we have enough interest, we proceed with making arrangements to have a training session that day.

We are hosting a rattlesnake and toad avoidance training for Green Valley Canine and Animal Experts Inc. on Saturday August 19th from 7:30 am to 10:30 or later, depending on interest. The cost is $100, there is a discount for multiple dogs. I recently received a phone call from a client who wished to cancel a boarding reservation because their dog died from a toad poisoning. Vet bills for either of these situations far outweigh the cost of training. Snakes and toads are not going away for the winter anytime soon. Please call me at 520-404-9556 to be scheduled for an appointment.
Update: Out of 17 available appointment times for that morning we only have five left.

We board lots of Huskies and my Daughter and Son in Law own two themselves. We rescued this beautiful little girl almost four years ago today. Here’s a video of her just prior to taking her from PACC and pics from yesterday in our yard with her sister. Names are Aspen and Willow. (FB would not let me post both the video and pictures at the same time, the pictures are in a comments below) if you’ve got Huskies, let’s see them!

I took my boy “Kontakt” with me to Lowe’s, Tractor Supply, Harbor Freight and the Pet Smart. Due to brutal temperatures, I carried him from the car to the interior of each store so he did t burn his feet. Such a handsome guy ❤️💙

Thank you Mike who owns ”The Cooler Guy.” Though the kennels have always been cooled, it’s always been archaic and a ton of maintenance for me to deal with many times throughout the summer. I have been wanting to upgrade the cooling system for a long time now, however it was not going to happen without very significant cost. Last week, Mike spent the week putting two new cooling units on the roof and ducting the cool air into the building. Wow! What an incredible difference! So very grateful to Mike and I’m very happy with the final product. I would highly recommend him! can’t wait to see you guys soon! 😁😁😁

Thank you Mike who owns ”The Cooler Guy.” Though the kennels have always been cooled, it’s always been archaic and a ton of maintenance for me to deal with many times throughout the summer. I have been wanting to upgrade the cooling system for a long time now, however it was not going to happen without very significant cost. Last week, Mike spent the week putting two new cooling units on the roof and ducting the cool air into the building. Wow! What an incredible difference! So very grateful to Mike and I’m very happy with the final product. I would highly recommend him! can’t wait to see you guys soon! 😁😁😁

For those of you who didn’t know, when the kennel was first built by me, we were importing training and selling police dogs, hence the harsh sounding kennel name. I’ve worked several police dogs over a 28 year law-enforcement career. The days of the police dog business are long gone but I did not want to give up the IronDog name. To make the kennel sound more inclusive to dogs of all sizes, we adopted the slogan “Big Dog Name, Little Dog Friendly.” These two little guys are from two separate owners. Both have heart issues and both are on multiple medications. we have been boarding Lucky, the poodle for years, Echo the Yorkie is new to us. Both are doing well in our care.

Very difficult to find AKC registered Cairn Terriers born Christmas Eve. Dewclaws removed, will be dewormed and have first vaccinations.  The dark brindle pup is our only girl and the other two lighter pups are boys. Feb 11th is the date I expect they can go home to their new owners. We have both mom and dad. I’m seriously disappointed with FB or now Meta. Seems I can’t just post videos anymore but now have to do a “reel.” I wanted to show more videos or everyone’s pups playing in the snow but can’t figure this out.

Walking into the kennel’s exercise yard this afternoon, I was distracted by a phone call from a client telling me they were going to be late to drop off. While engaged in the call I wasn’t paying attention and got nailed from behind by active duty Police K9, “Chaos.” We’ve boarded Chaos on many occasions and know him very well. He’s one of a half dozen police dogs we board on a regular basis. Being caught off-guard and winding up on the ground so fast, I really didn’t have time to think about his intentions. Really he just wanted to say hi and play but things almost got pretty real when I grabbed his collar to take control and keep him away from my face. When I told the caller what had just happened she told me she would have never known that anything was out of order. Having worked several police dogs throughout my law enforcement career, these guys have a special place in my heart. ❤️💙❤️💙 I’m sure he’s a street beast when at work, but much like my guys he can be really loving to those in his circle.😁

Good Morning! Hope we’re all staying happy and healthy!

Video 1 of 3. Meet Loki! Loki is a four month old husky puppy that arrived yesterday for his first time being boarded. You can clearly see how frightened he is in this video. How a frightened dog is handled when they arrive is key to reversing their state of mind. If you scroll down you can see two other videos of him. He’s wearing a long leash in the yard for the time being so if he chooses not to come back when called we don’t need to chase him which will only frighten him more. Very happy to see how much progress he’s making, please scroll down to the third video.
