🐾We are beyond thrilled to share that Juniper has found her forever home! After being rescued from an abusive situation, this sweet youngster spent two years with us—learning to feel safe, and then waiting for someone special to see her worth despite her FeLV+ status. That special someone turned out to be her amazing foster family, who just sent us this heartfelt message:
🐾"We have decided to move forward with adopting Juniper. She is truly one of a kind, and we’ve completely fallen in love with her! We’re confident we can provide her with the love, comfort, and safety she deserves. How to build an emergency cat shelter

When a bad storm or sudden cold snap is arriving soon and time is of the essence, use the design described here to quickly build an adequate temporary shelter. You'll need a cardboard box (cardboard is actually good insulation), duct tape, shredded newspaper, a pair of scissors and either a plastic drop cloth that's 3 millimeters thick (a common item in the paint department at Home Depot or a hardware store) or contractor trash bags at least 3 millimeters thick. To assemble:

(1) Take the cardboard box and tape all the seams shut with duct tape.

(2) Wrap the box completely with the drop cloth or trash bags, cutting the plastic as necessary while making as few seams as possible. Secure onto the box with duct tape, liberally and tightly wrapping the tape around the sides of the box and sealing any seams in the plastic. This will make the shelter waterproof.

(3) Cut a doorway in one of the shorter sides of the box approximately 6 inches by 6 inches, leaving the bottom of the doorway a few inches above the bottom of the box to prevent flooding. Use duct tape to secure the loose plastic around the opening onto the cardboard.

(4) Place shredded newspaper inside the box, filling it up to the bottom of the doorway in front and a little higher towards the back. The cats will gain added warmth by burrowing into the newspaper.

For added insulation and warmth, start by placing a slightly smaller cardboard box inside a larger one. Fill the gaps between them with rolled-up newspaper. You can also lay newspaper on the floor between the two boxes and between the two tops. Then proceed with steps 1 through 4, above, being sure to cut the doorway through both boxes.

🎉2024's Best Rescue Story🎉.

🐾One neighborhood came together to transform the lives of 21 cats (with a few more in the works). Your generosity and compassion transformed their lives. Thank you for being part of our rescue family💖.

🐾A person feeding a large group of outdoor cats in downtown Stamford moved away, leaving a colony of cats to fend for themselves. The property owner immediately imposed a feeding ban on the cats, hoping starving them would make them leave. When that didn't work, he contacted us, wanting us to remove the cats. It took patience and time to convince the property owner we had a more humane and effective plan that had been proven to work. And with cooperation from the surrounding community, the lives of 21 cats have been forever improved.

- 7 kittens and 6 tame adults entered our adoption program to find loving homes
- 5 older kittens taken in by caring neighbors were given basic medical care, including vaccines and spay/neuters
- 3 feral cats were trapped, neutered, vaccinated, and returned to live healthier, stress-free lives in their outdoor home under our care
- 3 tiny kittens were found on the property, but sadly, one by one, each passed despite our best efforts to help them
- only 5 more cats to go!

🐾These cats faced a sudden upheaval and a cruel and uncertain future. But thanks to your support, they are now cared for and loved💖.

💖End 2024 With Compassion: Rosie’s Story💖
🐾When we met Rosie, an abandoned young mom struggling to survive, neighbors told us she already had at least three litters of kittens.
🐾Rosie hid her first litter, and those kittens were never seen again.
🐾We found the second litter being cared for by a kind neighbor. At 6 months of age, these kittens were too accustomed to living outdoors to be adopted, but they were old enough to start reproducing. We were happy to spay or neuter and vaccinate them.
🐾Then, we found and rescued Rosie’s third and final litter—two boys and two girls—just 8 weeks old, healthy, and sociable. They will grow up knowing only love and comfort in a home.
🐾Rosie is now spayed and vaccinated, and today, she rests safely at our boarding facility. With a cozy bed, a window, and volunteers who adore her, she finally sleeps deeply and peacefully, something she has been unable to do for a long time. We’ll find her a forever home when she is ready.
