Admiration from afar ...... This is Talula, one of 30 cats rescued 5 years ago from an eviction. Talula is sweet as pie, and so tempting to cuddle ...... But ....... She won't allow it, so she is adored from a distance.

This is Keanu, named after one of my favorite persons. Keanu was pulled from the Wichita Animal Shelter a few years ago. He was labeled rescue pull due to behavior. He was a spicy teenager, but he is THE sweetest boy now. He loves it here with all the other cats.

J’s Lounge Chili cook off and fundraiser for Country Cats is Sunday, January 22nd! A $5.00 buy in gets you all the chili you can eat, and goes to a good cause. Have your chili there by 5:00 P.M. to enter, judging starts promptly at 5:30 P.M. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We will also have the pool tournament that day at 5:30.

I May Never Be A Lap Cat

I may never be a lap cat
Or one who comes when called
I may resist the hand that tries to touch
And some may think me flawed
I may prefer my freedom
To your warm and cozy house
I may reject the bowl of finest foods
For the chance to chase a mouse.

But the box you put out for me
Feels safe and warm and dry
And I raise my eyes to thank you
When I see you walking by
And I eat the food you give me
And I listen to your voice
I may never be a lap cat
But you offer me that choice.

One day will see the winter
One day will see the rain
I may grow old not knowing
That there is freedom from this pain
But I know you try to help me
And although my days may end
I may never be a lap cat
But I know you are my friend.

PLEASE HELP A CAT WARRIOR HELP CATS!

Recently, seven feral cats found themselves in harm's way when their tenant had to move, leaving the cat's caretaker at a loss of where to put the cats???

Luckily, the caretaker was able to provide a new safe location for these cats. Whew! But they needed to be spayed and neutered (6 females, 1 male). Country Cats was able to front the $$$ to get them altered ASAP to prevent kittens, but really does needs to be repaid to care for their own cats. Ugh!

Can you or anyone you know please help??? Every dollar makes a difference. Needing $420 please! Thank you and God Bless.

Overpopulation is hard on our community cats; they need to compete for resources to survive. Reproductive hormones compel them to reproduce, which is hard on their bodies. Males often fight to defend territory, females grow weak as litter after litter deplete her body of nutrients and energy. Spayed and neutered cats are healthier and happier cats. They're also better neighbors, especially to those who are not fond of community cats.

Do all you can to help our community cats lead healthier and safer lives: spay and neuter all your pets!
