Yesterday us horses got to have a relaxed day off enjoy being on the track. Our human wish though that we could tell her how our paddock companions, the three weanling calves, managed their escape into the blueberry Orchard next door. At least they were easy to get back home. They are now locked behind the sheep fence until the new batteries for the solar unit arrive!
They were already on order as our human had discovered that the units were only working in direct sun meaning that the batteries weren't holding their charge anymore. Unfortunately the calves discovered this flaw and took advantage of it!

Te Kauwhata A&P Show was a fantastic. Well run and a relaxed second show for miss Amari (aka Goldendream's Shesalil Miracle). Despite the heat Amari was such a little super star. Thanks to Joie Kennon for being Faith handler and taking Amari in her last two classes as well as her mum for her support outside the ring. Showing foal wouldn't be possible without friends willing to lend a hand!

Washed and ready for tomorrow's show. It's going to be an early start. Our human alarm is going off her normal wake-up time for work (5am!) She will do final leg wash before loading us up and going for the 40 minute drive to the show grounds. Her aim is to be there around 8.30m. The first rings classes start at 9am but we will have a bit of time before Amari's first and only class in that ring. Her second section will start at 10.30am. Hopefully the weather holds and it will be a glorious day

Amari's training is progressing but not as consistently as our human would like due to weather. Really isn't meant to be summer? Why the rain?
The catalog for our next show on Sunday is out! The Youngstock age classes aren't as well supported this time as they were in the last show. But there are two classes our human has never seen as part of the led section, best paced and best mannered. She decided to give those a go.

Guess who is now 2 months old as of yesterday! And who is also 51 days along with the 2.0 version.

Pedicure day for us girls! I woke up on the wrong side of the paddock and was a bit grumpy. Mum had flies attacking her so wasn't the best behaved either. The star of the day was Amari who did very well for her first trim. A wee bit wiggly but that was about it. She also stood nicely tied while us older two were done. She also stood as the appy pony who also lives on site was caught and done, her owner forgot the farrier was coming so our human went and got her.

One day at a show the next getting to meet the great grandparents! Such a social butterfly! Our human comes from a non horsey family though back in the day her grandparents did own a Orchard. As they live a distance away it's not often they will make the trip over to visit (she normally goes to see them) However the land she leases is part of the property her Aunt used to own. So her grandparents wanted to come and see the property and see the changes it has gone through since her Aunt sold it. They also took the opportunity to meet Amari and the calves/sheep and say hello to me and my mum who they have meet on a few occasions.

Thanks to our human's boss's daughter we have some clips of us in the Golden Horse ring. It's so awesome how supportive they are of their employees. The whole family tured up once again to show their support just as they did the night Amari was born. Maybe next year they get to see my next foal in the ring as Malfy is owned by them!

Our human decided to take advantage of us being in a different place to see how Amari will behave with lots of different distraction including me as she didn't have any way to tie me like normal.

We want to keep it real with you guys on Amari's training. So this is this evening training sessions. Two things were going on 1) this is only the second time they have done the leading practice in a big open space 2) the other pony on the property decided to run around her paddock like a dork and kept calling out. So Amari wasn't quite as focused as she normally is but handle the situation really well. It was actually something our human was happy to seen happen at home. It gives her an idea of what she might expect to encounter at the show and how Amari might react to things. Rather find the spice at home in more controlled environment and work on it here than find it at the show!

Today our human decided to push Amari a bit more. So far she has been doing most of the training up at the stables. But there isn't much space up there to do a decent "workout" so she decided it was time to move the workout into the paddock. Let's just say that Amari aced that test! 4 more days to go until show day!

Here is some more of the things Amari gets up to now with our human. This is part of our almost daily routine at the moment (exceptions being if the weather is wet!). Loading confidently on her own in the float, standing tied, grioming, and now at the point her feet can be picked out. The thing that is being worked on a couple of times a week, generally on nice sunny days, getting her feet and legs hosed working our way up to a full body wash. Though that will have to happen either this coming Friday afternoon or Saturday morning to make sure she is gleaming for her show.

Our human has finally worked out how to use her pivo for helping take videos. She has been asked by some people where am I during these sessions. The answer was behind where she had set up the camera eating my dinner. Now you can see for yourself.

We are a week out from Amari's first show. Amari's trotting is coming along in leaps and bounds. She is now trotting nicely inhand. She knows that just because we have it going nicely at home the majority of the time don't mean we will at the show. But that's fine it's the experience that counts. Entries are heating up with 3 others now entered into her Led Horse age class and another in her age class for the Golden Horse ring. Again Our human doesn't do these shows for the placings (though they are always a bonus) but at least now if Amari places our human will feel she deserved it rather placing by default because she is the only one in the class.
