Zion attended his first show today at the WaikatoA&PShow. Our human did mess up her arrival timing a bit so he missed out on his first class. She likes to arrive just in time for classes with foals so they aren't having to hang around too long before or after their classes especially for a first show. This show had all the adult classes first including their suitability classes so she tried to time it so we weren't having to wait too long. Unfortunately she missed judge how quickly they went through those classes!
However we did arrive on time to do all the junior suitability classes. He was in with 2 other horses that were either 2yrs or 3yrs old and managed to come 3rd in all three suitability classes, Dressage, Eventing, and Showjumping! He handled himself really well and the judge was impressed by his behavior.
His next shows will be Te Kauwhata A&P show in December and Morrinsville A&P Show in March. Next up is Amari showing at Te Aroha A&P Show next Saturday and then at Clevedon A&P show the following weekend.

Amari is getting used to wearing her inhand bridle. Now when they go for their walks down the farm (at least 4 days a week) she will be wearing it. The farm walks are great for exercise as learning to ignore distractions! Paddocks of broodmares following/galloping and playing, cattle and sheep (different to the ones our human owns) are all things they encounter. Once or twice a week they also practice being in the ring and what is expected there.
Our human was also struck with the variations in our colors now Dream and Amari have started shedding. Dream is shedding out very sooty this year!

Zion's training progress! Our human does a little bit every day of 5 minutes or so. Unfortunately recently tge weather has meant that she doesn't record it (mainly due to raining not wanting to get her equipment wet!). Today while rather windy was fine enough to risk breaking it out to record today's session.

Our human was sent home early this afternoon as the late night watch person had called in sick. Our human is "on call" for such call outs so it's a good thing that Amari's show tomorrow has been canceled. Because of getting home earlier than normal our human decided to swap us around fir the afternoon to allow Zion to get used to being on the track without Dream or Amari there. So far so good. Our human would like to have us all back on the track together asap.

Here is Zion's DNA results. It's confirmed he is negative for cream so he is a Chestnut.

You can just chill as Matamata A&P Show has just informed us that it's Show this weekend has been canceled due to ground conditions. Now our human needs to rethink Amari's shows to insure we can get her to enough shows to Qualify for HoY.
