There are lots of videos and photos we haven’t gotten around to posting yet, so you guys will be seeing content from dogs that have already completed the program with us as well as the dogs we currently have. Do you remember Ernie? We had Ernie here a couple months ago, he’s a sweet deaf boy that was such a pleasure to train ❤️ At Ernie’s go-home we had to show his owners how to work with him while using the ECollar and hand signals to communicate. It’s important for owners to start easy and gradually increase the difficulty. While dogs do have the skills after the board and train is over, they don’t yet have that kind of working relationship with the owner, and starting off easy sets everyone up for success from the very beginning!

Hello alumni! Our next class is in three weeks, on August 18th at 7pm. It will be held in Madison Heights. If you are planning on coming, message us to RSVP to get the location so we can have an accurate count of attendees 🐾 The next several classes will be beginner friendly. We’re looking forward to seeing you guys! The last class went very well and we’re so proud of the work you all are putting in with your dogs! Hi friends! One of the coolest parts of our job is helping dogs that have special needs. Here Eric is teaching Ernie the deaf Goldendoodle the Place command. We have to use body language to communicate to Ernie what we want from him. Any deaf dog can learn reliable commands! A mixture of the vibrate setting on the e-collar, low-level stim, and consistent body language all really help with communication. Ernie is such a sweet boy, we will definitely update you all more on his progress! ❤️

Here is Gemma the pit bull being a rockstar at Place! K9 Heights trainer Danny has been doing an amazing job at showing her the ropes and working her around various distractions. It often surprises potential clients that their dogs can just calmly exist on Place while they are cooking or cleaning in the kitchen. Your dog is no longer going to be begging for scraps or counter-surfing. You can have them out and about with you without needing to crate them or micromanage. Place solves so many problems by not letting them happen in the first place! Gemma is going home next week and we are so excited to work with her and her dad on how to make sure her awesome behavior sticks long-term!

Remote collar introduction with Axel. When the dog has learned commands, then we intro the collar. We go right back to step backs and leash pressure using low levels, markers and reward. Every step of training relays on foundations layed previously.

About K9 Heights Dog Training Owner Eric Allport

Eric has been training dogs and working with owners since 2010, improving the lives of both. He is a balanced training professional whose goals include helping your dog, meeting the individual needs of your family, and building a training program to address all of your concerns.

Eric’s experience includes working with countless dogs over the years to modify a wide variety of behavioral issues, as well as extensive work rehabilitating aggressive dogs. He believes that all animals deserve a second chance and in the right hands can flourish and live full, rewarding lives.

Eric enjoys teaching basic and advanced obedience, helping owners learn how to use obedience and training to create the right dynamic with their dog to achieve results. He, along with all K9 Heights Dog Trainers, is a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and a Professional Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.

Eric’s experience doesn’t stop with companion dogs. He has also trained dogs for narcotics and bed bug detection, as well as service dogs for tasks including:

While living in Colorado, Eric worked with prison inmates, teaching them to train dogs in obedience, service work, and scent detection. Many of the dog’s the inmates worked with were rescues.
