One of the important things I find in being a good groomer is giving my clients what they want provided it's not compromising the dog's health in any way. For example, I would really love to blend the heck out of this schnauzer cut on this doodle, but his owner loves the "hula skirt" look and so, there is minimal blending because it's what his owner loves! Making clients happy makes me happy.

Had a puppy and a senior citizen in today. Surprisingly, you treat them both very similarly. Work accurately, and as quickly as the dog will allow.

This little guy was quite the project today.

The funniest part of this day was realizing that the Great Pyrenees needs 1.5 bottles of shampoo with 2 bottles of conditioner and I can bathe all 3 of the shih-tzus with less than 1 bottle of shampoo and less than 1 bottle of conditioner.

Lovely day working with this tiny little old poodle. He's deaf and mostly blind but still a sweet, old guy.

Looong day of work getting about 50 - 75 foxtails out of the big guy's coat. It was nice to finish up with my favorite modified Portugese Water Dog trim.

I absolutely loved getting to give this puppy his first haircut today. He was definitely nervous about some aspects of the groom, but he is such a sweet tempered boy who overcame his fear of the dryer.

I forgot to take a before picture of this comfort groom today, but I've been so proud of this little, old lady's progress with me. We do everything slowly and gently to work with her arthritis and lack of vision or hearing. She's progressed so well from being very fearful and aggressive to spending most of the time in my arms.

This big mama was in desperate need of a good groom after weaning her latest litter of puppies. Both clients were excellent to work with today.

It was a little bittersweet to say goodbye to this trio of clients today.The owners, after driving over 30 minutes, (one-way) to their grooming appointments for about a year, have finally found someone closer to home that can help out their pups. I'll still miss these sweethearts, though.

I had the cutest little old guy today. He's mostly blind, has alopecia, and pretty severe arthritis but has the best attitude and just wants to be held. 😍

One of these was a new client today. We got to have a good discussion at pickup surrounding some education of brushing and watching for foxtails in your dog's fur. He had a lot of matting all over his body (typical with bathing at home without brushing afterward) and several foxtails embedded in his skin (last pic). I find that it's always best to approach these conversations assuming that the client loves their dog and wants the best for them but may just be lacking the correct knowledge to care for them fully.

I'm back to work today after some vacation time. It was these pups' first time being fully groomed by me, so there were some nerves, but they did so well!

Today was the day for doodles getting cuts from other breeds. First is a Schnauzer cut and then a modified Portuguese Water Dog cut.

I recently purchased a new, smaller and quieter trimmer that made this girl much more at ease in our grooming session today. Otherwise the clippers always make her a little nervous.

I love watching these two play. Robin sounds like a little grumbling gremlin and Beau enjoys holding toys hostage from her. It's one of the highlights.

We started desensitizing Beau to boots. 😁

Beau is officially 6 months old today! He's a clumsy puppy who tries his best for me and we're a few weeks away from testing for his CGC, which I know he'll pass. We're still working on his focus around other dogs and sometimes I call him a cottonheaded ninny muggins but he really is an awesome pup.

He was fully dunking his face trying to get the leaf. 😆 I'm loving getting to play in with the water with Beau.

This was such a fun track! The wind was blowing down the hill and you can tell right when she smelled her target and took off. Good girl!

We're a little rusty after taking most of the winter off but it sure feels good to practice!
