She uses only force free methods, so ensuring the dogs, rescue centres and owners only have the very best of support and information. She works alongside, and with vets providing cpd sessions, advice, puppy preschool sessions and support. Caroline carries out a huge amount of work in, with and for a large number of rescue centres and organisations in the UK working with rescue dogs directly, whilst also giving online support to others around the world. She helps those fostering and adopting rescue dogs. She is known for her ability to work with all dogs, including challenging/complex ones, aggression, anxiety, fear, reactiveness, to understand the stress and impact of past experiences, then progressing to put plans together to help the dog live a full life in a home environment. Let's not forget Deaf Dogs or those with hearing/eyesight problems! It is through rescue centres predominantly that Caroline has worked hugely with deaf dogs, taking on her own deaf dog from rescue too. She is determined to change our understanding and perception of these dogs. She founded Deaf not Difficult(R) to provide information, courses and bring awareness to professionals, rescues and owners. She mentors other trainers, regularly gives talks, runs courses, supports owners, rescues and professionals. (c) Copyright Help at Hand Dog Behaviour 2024

We really need your help and urgently please?

Due to a SIGNIFICANT change in circumstances we desperately need a foster or Furever Home for baby Bing 😭

Through absolutely NO fault of his or his owner, he needs to find a new home and urgently.

He is disabled with some quite significant issues but is a happy, loving, curious and fun little baby, not even a year old.

He’s been around other dogs all his life, travels well, has a good appetite and loves life BUT will need an understanding and patient owner who has the patience and lifestyle to care for a disabled dog.

We are more than happy to fund physio treatment, to pay for wheels or any other physical support that would mean Bing is pain free and has a decent quality of life, and we know that many disabled dogs like him have an excellent quality of life and provide great companionship.

We can discuss his specific disabilities with anyone who is interested in offering him a home, and are happy to fund help he might need to settle in and get a full vet assessment done with his new home. We can support you with practical and behavioural advice - you’d need to love him fiercely and take care of his day to day needs.

This really is very urgent and quite desperate so your help would be appreciated.

Please don’t speculate as to what has happened, you’ll have to trust me when I say this is COMPLETELY out of his owners control and she is heartbroken - as are we. Please help? We don’t have much time x

I think we can all agree on this can't we, there is nothing like the gift of being able to love an animal x

It was lovely to be running Puppy Preschool with Sarah Jones RVN at Malthouse Veterinary Group last night. Setting everything up for success with four wonderful puppies who learnt how to make new friends, have fun, techniques to calm down and so much more. Thank you to the lovely owners who we had the pleasure of meeting properly too.

Playing Russian Roulette with your Dog

Some people were really wise yesterday and chose not to walk their dogs at the hottest parts of the day.

Others played Russian Roulette with their dog and their dogs died. Some said they had been dog owners for years and never had a problem, some said their dog needed a walk, some forgot how hot the pavements and roads are, some forgot how difficult it is for an older dog in the heat, some forgot that young puppies can't regulate their temperature well, some forgot that their breed is brachycephalic and struggle to breathe, some even continued to run with dogs at mid day.

Well done, you got away with it yesterday, you can't see the extreme side effects of heatstroke in your dog - you are lucky.

But don't keep doing it, and one day your luck runs out.

No dog dies from not having a walk, but plenty get injuries, heatstroke and do die.

XL BULLY TYPE NEUTERING FORM
For those dogs who were aged one year old or above on 31st January, and will have been neutered prior to the deadline of Sunday 30th June.
The proof of neutering form needs to be sent to the email address below in the screenshot. There is a postal address listed (personally, I would be emailing it).
This is the link to the form itself:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/665735940c8f88e868d33330/Veterinary_confirmation_of_neutering_VCN01_Form290524.pdf
If your dog came from a rescue centre, and was neutered prior to you adopting. Then please chase the rescue centre and get them to provide the information/get vet to sign it.
Please note: If you have to go to a different vet practice to get the form completed, they will need to check your dog in person to confirm it has been neutered/spayed.
Deadline for all of this is Sunday 30th June. x

Please say hello to this little boy Malik 🧡

Isn’t he absolutely gorgeous?

Malik is just 7 months old and currently in foster in Shrewsbury and he needs a very special Furever Home please.

He’s a saluki x Malinois and whoever thought that was a good combination perhaps needs a lie down in a dark room!

Whether you know about one breed or the other, you’ll know that each has their own particular traits and characteristics so combining the TWO
. Hence the need for a particular home!

I’ll post further details of this gorgeous pup later but don’t go falling in love until you are fully aware of his needs!

A very secure garden is an absolute must, no young children and definitely an experience home! This boy is a monkey according to his foster Mum 😂

Another week gone by and still no enquiries for Juno 😱

She’s a beautiful 4 year old GSD x Rottie with a wonderful temperament.

She’s amazing around children, non reactive to livestock and cats at a safe distance, needs a confident owner to reassure her when she feels vulnerable.

Absolutely stunning girl with great manners, happy to be left for a few hours, travels well and loves to meet people who might give her a fuss 🧡

Shrewsbury at the moment, living in a family home, but can only stay for a few more weeks.

She’s hoping you’ll take a moment to share her details with all your friends xx

Mental stimulation comes from every element in life. After a lovely walk, taking the time to just stop somewhere completely different and enable Morris to watch the world go by is important.
Dogs enjoy seeing new things, they take in far more than we realise from being sat in a car observing.
If your dog struggles to cope with the unpredictability of being out, sitting in a car is a great way of expanding their world as well.
Build curiosity, and take that time to share our lives in a different way.

There are sweeties in here somewhere, I NOSE there are!!!

Good morning from Juno 💕💕💕

Could today be the day that the PAWFECT home steps up?

She’s in Shropshire at the moment in a foster home where she’s behaving beautifully. We’d prefer to find a home where the people have large breed experience and are able to continue working with our behaviourist to support Juno in settling in and continue with the work around her reactivity to some other dogs.

That work will be funded by us but you must be prepared to invest the time to work with us!

You’ll need a large secure garden, a house with sufficient space for a large breed, you’ll be able to devote time to Juno on a daily basis and although she’s happy home alone for a few hours, you’ll not be out all day.

She’s been great around children, respectful of rules and boundaries, not yet cat tested although she did live in the same house as a cat, they were never in the same room together.

Please use the enquiry form to make initial contact with us and then further discussions can be set up.

Please think about this. For those of us involved in rescue we really do not want to be seeing any more breeding right now.
The words Rescues in Crisis is not said for a dramatic effect. It is reality - so much breeding without thought, amongst other problems, has created a situation whereby rescues are full, with waiting lists, and healthy dogs being put to sleep because there is nowhere to go any more.
It is not about everyone suddenly taking on a rescue dog, because it's not always suitable. But, donate food and bedding to those small rescues who need it right now - that is where we can start to make a difference.

The harsh reality

One thing Shads always tries to do is be transparent so I want to share with you what the team here are discussing today so you get an insight into how we are feeling as alot of this is hidden from the public

TODAY there are 5 shepherd or Husky cross dogs on our poundie pages we cannot share photos but we have
1 x Belgian Mali pts date 30/4
1 x GSD X time up
1 x GSD X AKITA time up
1 x GSD X AKITA Surrender Time up
1 x Husky x Akita pts date tbc

Every dog is young maybe max 2-3yrs old

We can possibly help 1 of these dogs how would you chose? When it says "time up" it means that dog has no days left to get an offer the pound will sometimes hold but the vet can come at any point and that dogs life is ended :-(

We have to sit down as a team today look at the photos of those 5 dogs and pick one.....just one that we can save to save all 5 the cost would be astronomical between ÂŁ2500 and ÂŁ3500 for a kennel alone to get them safe and we just don't have those funds

We also have 2 owner surrenders waiting to come in who are also urgent

Poor Cassius has not had a good day 😱

The young man took Cassius to the vet today to get his booster done so that he’s all health checked and good to go - but sadly got one of those vets that ‘processes cases’ rather than ‘cares for each patient’ 😡

He didn’t even let Cass get settled in the room and has gone straight to muzzle Cass which freaked him out, he’s never had a muzzle, so of course the boy panicked and moved away in fear 😱

So no booster and a stressed out pup tonight.

Vets like that really get on my pip - I had a similar experience a few years back with Asbo - you’d think of all people they’d know best?!

Please can you help me find a better tomorrow for this gorgeous boy by sharing his post?

He’s dog friendly, people friendly and looking for an urgent foster home where he can shake off the stress and be taken care of whilst we find his Furever 🧡

Full details are on our website xx
