Our Story

Raid was a direct action group called Rescuing Animals In Danger and they basically did just what their name stated. When the authorities refused to act, they stepped in, multiple, multiple times. Raid were established in early 2016 and were together for a touch over a year. To be perfectly honest they were a trio of like-minded (or so they thought) animal liberators, The group were pretty successful for almost their entire existence, despite being a just trio living spread across the country they managed to organise, carry out or oversee the rescue/securing of many animals and helped advise and support with many others..

Rescuing well over 100 animals of various species as a team they became the "goto" for a lot of people when an animal was in need. The group grew with each new rescue and with the page growth and the new supporters, of course in flooded the new cases. it wasn’t long before Raid became a household name. Travelling the lengths and breadths of the country was taking it’s toll though, on the team, their transportation vessels and their home lives, not to mention the constant stress of hundreds of tags, comments and messages per day and the levels of abuse they were forced to watch, hear about or witness for themselves. Things were made more difficult when there were in-house disagreements about recruiting new members.

At the height of its popularity and with over 25k likes on the page and many more following it wasn’t long before the demand placed on and then expected of the group to take action in various places at various times was beginning to become overwhelming at best and impossible at worst. Things were made yet again increasingly difficult as relationships with rescue centres and sanctuaries started to break down all over the place, mostly due to personal issues and politics or from a growing negative opinion about one of the members of the team. After some of their actions were less and less unbecoming and unreasonable.

After some of their own rules were broken in desperate attempts to meet this demand, in house fractures and cracks began to appear eventually making the continuation of the group untenable. After a fairly toxic and public fallout Raid essentially lay dormant and nothing but a memory, just something people would talk about sometimes for almost 3 years. This was the case up until November 2019 when it was re-established with a new team, new direction and new found energy and willingness to succeed.
