It's foaling season and the UF Equine Science Center in Ocala has an opening for an Ag Assistant. We are looking for an experienced person to help with horse care, manage the herd health and serve as a program assistant handling registrations, nominations and program advertisements. I don’t have much history on the little unicorn, aka Betty White, but the first time I met her and reached for her face she went up on her hind legs. Jerking the head up and rearing seems to have been her automatic response for some time so I’m pleased with this progress. See how she watches even as I fumble around holding the camera and drop the rope. She’s a sensitive little horse, which is probably how she got to be a kid-launcher 😱 (any miniature bucking stock contractors out there?!) but I think she’s starting to appreciate that her interactions with people are no longer all one sided conversations.

Horse care life hack: give your ponies applesauce from a syringe for a few days ahead of time and they’ll all but mug you when it comes time for the dewormer.
