Extreme heat is coming next week! How can we protect our plants without spending a zillion on water?
👉 SHADE CLOTH is an inexpensive addition to some hoops in the garden to extended the life of cold crops like lettuces, and helps prevent bolting. I use a 30% shade cloth to give me extra harvest time in hot weather
👉MULCH helps prevent evaporation and keeps the roots cool on your plants! Straw and composted leaves are excellent choices
👉SCHEDULED WATERING in very early morning or at night will save you water. Don't forget to check if it's absorbed in the soil by digging around a little w your fingers
👉WILTING midday is normal for your plants, it's how they defend from losing water (they close the stomata on their leaves to prevent more water loss
Stay hydrated and safe!
