I didn’t know what to so with it, so dad gave it to Romeo. He knew what to do with it… ran off with it like a dog with a new bone. 😼d

Travel Cat Diaries’ roving journalists recently had the opportunity to query Nala, a cat of Lexington, Virginia, on the history of her travels.

Though a bit shy, Nala happily shared: “My travels began on the Marine Corps Base Quantico, Quantico, VA, where I was adopted.

Then next I moved with my family to Waynesboro, VA.

While considering a move to a farm in Weyers Cave, VA, my parents decided that due to it being coyote country, it was best that I move in with my grandparents, who live in the city in Lexington, VA.

I love my home and grandparents.😻

That’s it.

It is now time for me to hide under the bed for a while.”

Eight years ago, today, Girlfriend, the original ‘travel cat’ 🐈‍⬛, started her final journey.  The trip started in south Florida, and was the end in southern California. Sadly, after hopscotching of the East Coast, Girlfriend only made it to New Jersey.

Girlfriend had always been a bit of a fraidy-cat, but on this trip she came out of her shell. She often sat by the window of the car, watching the road go by. She confronted a number of dogs and cats on this journey. Each time she did it with strength and power and grace. She was 18.

Charlie: I watch Romeo, and am learning to climb trees. I only do small ones. Romeo climbs big trees to the very high into the canopy. Sometimes he jumps on to roof tops.

Mom & dad took Charlie and me to Kittyland Resort & Spa today. They say this is like going to boys camp for a few days. Dad admonished me to treat Charlie well, and to be the mature, older brother. Mom tried to tell Charlie that he was going to have plenty of food and love, and was not being abandoned. I fear that I will have my work cut out for me convincing Charlie of this.… He can be a bit of a crybaby.

Outside the field is lit by silver moonlight. Great horned owls call to each other atop oak and sycamore trees. In the river bottom we can hear coyotes yipping. Of late a siamese cat has been silently prowling, apparently unaware of the nearby dangers.

Inside our little monsters comfortably sleep.
