Why Neck Ties for Cats? " Executive ties for very important business cats" is just so ridiculous, how can one not laugh? But really, how does one find themselves making teeny tiny neckties for cats? It all began after Halloween. One of my youngest son's friends left part of his costume at our house. So for weeks, this men's blue striped necktie was found in various places all over the house. I wou
ld bring it back up to the kids' room and the next day I would find it draped over the couch. Rinse repeat. Then one night, after I had returned for the umpteenth time back upstairs; we all sat down for dinner. Often my cat, Mr. Mew Mews will join us when we eat, but this night, he was wearing the tie. It was just so silly and the damn cat looked so stupid, all we did that whole dinner was crack up about the cat. We made jokes about how he had such a tough day at the office, he had to hurry up and eat because he had another meeting and how he was "a very important business cat". A cat in a tie made that normal chicken dinner into a family memory. Needless to say, we left the tie on the cat, but it was really too long and dragged like a foot behind him. There was some concern that he would get it stuck on something and choke, so we couldn't very well leave it on him indefinitely. I adore that stupid cat and I would be crushed. Luckily, I noticed that the "little end" of the tie was actually in perfect proportion for his size, so rather than lose our comic relief, I customized the tie. After cutting the small end off to proper length, I improved the method of adhering to his collar with some hand-sewing and viola! the prototype cat tie. Mew Mews wore that tie every day for months and I never got tired of looking at him in it. Everyday I laughed at him and it brought joy to my life; so I want to spread that joy to others. I know other people love their cats like I do; so why not
