2. A big announcement. Effective May 1, 2025, all Minks, Sepias & Solids born after that date, will have their own breed group and will be called "Cherubim." This is a new breed group within the Ragdoll breed, officially recognized by TICA, encompassing Ragdolls in mink, sepia, and solid coat colors with varying eye colors, unlike traditional Ragdolls with blue eyes.
What are Cherubim Cats?
Cherubim cats are a new breed group within the Ragdoll breed, recognized by TICA (The International Cat Association) on May 1, 2025. They include Ragdolls in mink, sepia, and solid coat colors. Unlike traditional Ragdolls, Cherubim cats can have different eye colors, not just blue. Cherubim cats inherit the gentle, affectionate temperament of Ragdolls.
Why the new breed group?
TICA recognized the need to create a new breed group for these non-traditional Ragdoll colors, allowing them to be shown and registered separately from traditional Ragdolls.
What does this mean for breeders and owners?
As of May 1, 2025, registrations and pedigrees for these cats will state "Cherubim" with the code "CB".
Cherubim cats will have their own written standard and can be shown for championship. Traditional Ragdolls (blue-eyed, pointed) will remain the same.
Breeders can now breed and register these cats under the Cherubim breed group.
