About 1.5 - 2 weeks ago, we mentioned Lesi wasn't doing too well with her new diagnosis of breast cancer & a tumor in her mouth that's attached to the bone etc.

We said we would monitor her to see how she was going. It's with broken hearts we have to say, she really isn't doing too well. She's still losing a lot of saliva with blood from her mouth & the decaying stench surely isn't comfortable for her. She's not our big, goofy, active, matriarch anymore & we can clearly see she's just hanging on & will do so until her last dying breath. The holistic treatment she's been on since she came to us 1.5 - 2 years ago has already prolonged her stay with us. The new holistic meds she's on to help her cancers isn't working 🙏

And so once again, we have to make the very difficult decision to stop her suffering & help her to travel onto her next journey. Today at 2pm, Lesi will pass peacefully in our loving arms & once again, we are honored to have been able to take this sweetheart in & give her an amazing last 2 years of her life. Lesi is around 12 years old & will be missed.

This is the purpose of our senior safe house. To give senior dogs the best time of their lives before it's their time to leave this earth 🙏🫶🏽

🕊🤍 𝑹𝑰𝑷 Amisia 🤍🕊

Yesterday, 2 lives began at our senior safe house.

But we also lost a life 🙏

Amisia has been under observation, since Billy. If you remember Billy_BRDS, he was our very broken dog with a bullet lodged in his pelvis, injured archilles tendon in another leg & a tirade of other issues that were deemed untreatable because of his delicate state. Just like Billy, Amisia went into our safe house to live out her best life, for the rest of her time.

She went on for another 2 years with us but she was slowly deteriorating over time. She was completely blind & didn't really adapt to her blindness (like Jasper), she had inoperable tumors we monitored over the 2 years, her back legs were getting weaker & the last deciding factors was - her metabolism ceased to continue working properly so no matter how much she ate, she was dropping weight instead of gaining & she started having neoro problems as well as her equilibrium became very unstable. Basically she was spinning around in circles & walking into walls, lopsided.

Amisia is guesstimated to be around 12 - 13 years old. We could have kept her there until she decided to pass away on her own however, we knew her quality of life was becoming less & less.

And so, we made the difficult decision to let Amisia travel onto her next journey in life where she could see. Where she could go find Jabric, Lozen & all the friends she once knew there. She's free now & she passed away surrounded by love 🤍

This is what we do. We make difficult decisions that nobody else wants to make. And if we make these decisions, we make them knowing we did ALL we could for them to remain another two years or however long they choose to be with us.

🩵 𝗔𝗗𝗢𝗣𝗧𝗘𝗗 🩵

And so it would be our little Monty has landed into his perfect forever home where we know he's going to be doted on, spoilt & loved, exactly how a Poodle should be 🤸

As you can imagine, there were loads of applications for this beautiful boy but we held out, because we knew exactly the scenario we wanted for his next home.

And sure enough, 2 weeks later after his adoption drive, we were contacted & huge discussions began to take place. You see Monty's new family waited as well for the perfect timing to get their next dog. As much as their daughter was always asking for a dog, they waited until they knew they were settling down & today, her life long wish came true ❤️

And we couldn't be happier to be part of delivering her dream. Monty's family will travel twice a year back to their home country & we'll be delighted for Monty to stay with us when this happens. He's a darling boy & while we don't usually offer this to our adopters, we have so much feels for this bundle of joy so it was an immediate offer 💫

Our hearts are full.
We know Monty & his new family will enjoy each other for their rest of their lives.

🚑 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗨𝗘𝗗 🚑

About 1.5 weeks ago, we rescued what would turn out to be a family of dogs & not just one. Thanks to the swift actions & report from Eta Kadek, we investigated the situation & found that the old guy Blacky came with a life long partner Kiki who also was caring for one of their pups, a little baby girl who we named Jilly.

Blacky had been taking care of his little family even though he was slowly dying.

He stood strong & protected them all the while suffering chronic Scabies, fungus & the worst, stage 3 - 4 kidney failure.

We tried our best with Blacky but even with treatment, Blacky's kidneys were failing even more & while we know he gave up & wanted to rest his weary body once he knew his little family was safe, we eased his suffering & gently released him to live his next life with no more suffering.

Blacky leaves behind his legacy with Kiki & Jilly. Kiki is a wonderful Mother to her baby, super protective & doting but it's time for her to stop having babies & to go live her wonderful life at our Paws For Change senior safe house while Jilly transfers to another of our safe houses where they'll continue their healing & hopefully move on to find their forever homes.

We've made a promise to Blacky that we'll make sure his last babygirl will live a good life along with his lifelong partner Kiki.

All 3 dogs had an owner who did try their best however, we made the decision to keep these two instead of returning them.

🚑 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗨𝗘𝗗 🚑

We rescued Freya last week after Eta Kadek reported her directly to us.

This poor girl was run over twice within 24 -- 36 hours & was being fed by a kind street feeder. The person who reported her initially was someone whose dog we had helped not long ago & we are grateful to this person for taking swift action otherwise Freya would have undoubtedly been run over again 🙏

So far xrays show Freya has no actual spine damage so we need to do a Myelography to test her nerve damage. She has been stabilizing for the week because her appetite wasn't that good initially.

Hopefully we'll have results over the next couple of days.

She needs help. Her story is heartbreaking. Owned. Neglected. Copious amounts of puppies in her short life. Witnessed all her puppies get knocked off one by one by motorists. Chronic skin disease & on top of that, chronic TVT.

Her time has come for a change of life & we want to provide that change for her.

If you've been following me closely lately, you'll know I've rescued Chibi from a rescue/hoarding situation. Well, this is Gamja.

Gamja is an old boy who was lucky enough to reach me & get out of his nightmare "rescued" life of living in a tiny cell. He was found emaciated, his horrendously thin body lying unprotected on the ceramic tiles with an uncomfortable fungal skin infection that was left untreated.

What's worse is he was left lying in his own f***s & urine until it was hose time, but Gamja, is unable to stand up let alone walk. So, this was his life for we don't know how long 💔

Gamja was also suffering from serious dehydration, two types of blood parasites & is heartworm positive & has been on infuse for the past 4 days. The good thing is his kidneys are still in tact 🙏

He's a quiet old boy & will have a place at our senior safe house once he's medically treated for all his issues.

Chibi has a third chance at a good life & we're going to make sure she receives the best medical treatment, loads of love & cuddles & a wonderful rest of life.

Chibi needs grade 4 patella luxation surgery on both her hind legs along with corrective bone surgery, treatment for fungal infection & loads of love to get her past her traumas.

It's been a very long & hard day & this little girl, is only the beginning 🙏

Over here, there are some cementaries that are common dumping grounds for puppies & dogs. This little girl was with her Mother (who will be spayed) & she watched all her siblings die. The last remaining sibling was poisoned & suffered a horrible death. Then, it would be that her luck ran out as she was hit by a motorist.

Luckily there are caring street feeders who knew she needed help & so, through channels, the universe aligned her with us.

When our Billy came to us he was 50 shades of broken.

Torn achilles, two bunged up front legs, severe heart murmur & a bullet lodged in his pelvic bone.

He had endured enough in his life 💔

We accepted him into our Paws For Change senior safe house knowing fully, he was on borrowed time.

Our mission was to ensure he knew love, care & peace, before it was his time to leave us.

Yesterday Billy showed us he was ready. He deteriorated & we know, medically there's not much else we can do for him.

Billy was a feisty old boy who through it all, showed us the street would never leave him. He was happy to receive his two meals a day like clockwork. He was happy to spend time on his own yet surrounded by his friends both four legged & two legged. He was happy to be able to bask in the sun on the grass & accept pets on his terms.

That's all he needed.

Today, Billy will gain his freedom to run on all four legs again like a young pup & go onto his next journey in life.

We'll miss you Billy & hope you take a little piece of us with you ❤

The secret is out!
Where have I been a lot of you are asking 😁

Well, one of my passions has always been to help in whatever way I can & this special little boy Aman, 6 hours away by ferry & 1 hour by land has caught my attention. In fact his entire story has caught my heart ❤

This is just an introduction to him. Over time, his story will be revealed & I know many of you will want to follow his journey to becoming a happy go lucky, cheeky boy that he already is! 🙈

He's already lucky in so many ways❣

Firstly he was rescued by
Then he was adopted by Bader!
Then he caught our attention!
Now he has a wheelchair donated by us (which is only a temporary solution)
And now, he's going to touch your hearts exactly the same way he has touched ours ❤

We're not currently asking for donations for Aman (whose name means Safe in Indonesian). Right now we're in discussions about what the best plan moving forward for him will be & once we know 100%, we'll let you know 🙏

In the meantime, Bader has been advised how to give Aman physiotherapy & take care of him, Aman will spend a little monitored time in his wheelchair & shoes & will continue being the happy, sweet & cheeky boy he already is ❤

Over the years most of you know one of my passions is helping local families directly & community work. Change happens when you go deep into the roots & work with those who have a basic understanding of animal welfare or responsible pet ownership. Bali is also overflowing with shelters & one of the most positive things we can do is help families directly & ensure they receive advice & education moving forward.

Bulbul came to my attention via a local rescuer Eta Kadek who reached out for help. It was organized with ease & smoothness & her family traveled a long way on Sunday & brought her to the clinic. Unfortunately, Bulbul was tragically run over & has not only broken the bone in her leg but has severely damaged the nerves in her leg.

Bulbul also has blood parasites & low anemia & she was covered in lice & fleas. Despite all that & the pain she has endured, you can see clearly she has a strong bond with her family.

Bulbul needs to be stabilized before she can receive surgery, vaccinations & be spayed ❤ So far she's doing well although I'm sure she's missing her family who will make sure to visit her.

Let's come together as a community, help Bulbul so she can be reunited with her family once again.

🕊 𝑹𝑰𝑷 𝑨𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓 🕊

He's gone 💔
Up until couple hours ago, tough warrior queen Alison was sure she would be ok. I mean 10 years of this, I would think toughens me up - but just like last time, no. Denial is futile.

I watched from a distance, the entire release. He didn't struggle, he didn't fight. He just kind of knew I believe.
I can only find peace knowing he's not suffering anymore. Knowing we really did our best for him. He actually wasn't first on the list. Maybe that makes sense to some. Maybe not - but that's the way of the senior safe house here. It's not a house full of fluffy butts & Chihuahuas. It's a house full of old, neglected & abused street dogs who you just don't mess with. It's a place where you give them exactly what a retirement home is. Safety. Food. Holistic & western medication. Baths whether treatments or just to keep them clean. Nice soft beds. Oh & again - safety.

I will miss his head rubbing against me. The way he greeted me when I walked into our senior safe house.

May we meet again Alistar. You did what most people can't do. You made me cry.
