It's a very busy week at the sanctuary filled with vet visits.

Today, Cinder went into the vet for his special neuter surgery.

Cinder was born with a heart murmur, which makes surgery a bit more risky for him. Thankfully, our vet has a heart safe protocol for sedation medication that is specially designed for little kitties like him.

He did absolutely amazing -- and is officially neutered.

He also was officially adopted today by the most amazing family.

Congrats, Cinder, on your forever life ❤️ and a HUGE thank you to our amazing vets who did such an amazing job with his surgery ❤️

Today's daylight saving time, which means tomorrow bedtime chores will be done much earlier.

The pigs spend their days by the sun -- and tuck themselves into their stalls at dusk no matter when dusk approaches.

Winter means a bit of hibernation for the animals at the sanctuary-- as the amount of day light is much less 😴 (and it means super late night's in the summer 🤣🤣)

Please welcome Mr. Benny to the rescue.

Mr Benny was found wandering around outside one of our pet valu partner stores. Whether he was just a stray or dropped off, we dont know. But it was clear he needed some help!

Mr. Benny has an upper respiratory infection that he is still working on. He went to our vets last week and was prescribed some antibiotics. He is on the mend – but still needs a bit more TLC before he is 100%.

He tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and he appears otherwise healthy!

We can't wait til he is back to his normal self and runny nose free!

With absolutely heavy hearts we said goodbye to our sweet Dash last week 💔

Dash was the very first dog that arrived at the sanctuary as a sanctuary resident, he was the first dog Cynthia and I got together and he has left such a huge hole in our hearts.

Dash was about 15 years old -- and he had been slowing down for the past few months, showing his age and telling us it was almost his time. Nut he made the most of the summer and got all the extra treats and love from our volunteers.

As we say to every animal that leaves us ... we love you so much Dash and you will always be part of our family.

We know times are tough right now ... and it drastically hurts rescues like us when donations start to slow down. Right now, we have seen a huge drop in donations.

We usually have no issue raising donations for surgeries like Smores and now we are struggling to cover the vet costs.

We need to raise another $950 to cover his vet bills!

Update on Smores!!!

Guess who did amazing in surgery & is all settled back into his foster home!!!

Surgery went amazing for this little one -- and his amputation was a huge success.

Smores is back at his foster home and is right back to living his extremely active life -- playing, playing and more playing!!

Huge thanks to our amazing vets & foster homes!!

Please welcome smores to the rescue!!

This little one came to us a few weeks ago with a limp & a head tilt!!

We have been spending the last few weeks working on trying different medications for his head tilt - ruling out ear infections, and mites & trying some antibiotics. Unfortunately, nothing has helped -- and likely he will have the slight tilt for life.

Smores was scheduled for surgery for his leg amputation, as he had a femur fracture that healed incorrectly causing him his limp (and some life long pain if not corrected!)

Yesterday-- smores was playing too hard with some kitty friends and reinjured his leg -- causing us to speed up the process for surgery!!

The little guy was rush to the vets -- and after some x rays surgery is now happening tomorrow!!

Smores is spending the night at the vet before his surgery tomorrow!!

Wish him luck !!!

Come say goodnight to Carlisle with me!! 💤💤💤 Carlilse loves his nightly routine of snuggles and being tucked in --- this is his 2nd winter with us and for those that remember his rescue, we promised him that day that he would never be cold again. He was surrendered to us almost 2 years ago -- and on the day we rescued him, he was sleeping in a stall w no bedding in -35. And here he is now (his head is completely under the straw to the right of the video) -- spoiled beyond belief, tucked in all cozy for the night, after eating a healthy dinner and some fruits for dessert ❤️

Our Story

Carroll’s Animal Sanctuary and Rescue is an animal sanctuary and cat rescue.

We opened an animal sanctuary because we saw a huge need for animals that were unadoptable due to age, species or special needs to find home. Now we offer a home to many different animals and we are continuing to grow. Adopted from humane societies and private surrenders we give abandoned and unloved animals a second chance at a new life. Carroll Organics Farm and Sanctuary focuses on senior, special needs and hard to adopt domestic and farm animals.
