Looking for a loyal companion? For this with Madison Minutes, we'd like you to meet Jemma Jean. This 8-year-old pup was surrendered to DCHS earlier this month after her family became homeless. She has moments when she’s shy, but she’s so sweet and friendly. Jemma Jean has been enjoying time in an office, where she spends most of the day snoozing at the feet of her officemate. When her officemate pops out for a few, Jemma Jean quietly waits by the door and watches as people pass by. This senior pup likes receiving pets and going for slow, short walks. But Jemma Jean is happiest when lounging by your side. At 83 pounds, Jemma Jean is a bit overweight so she’s looking for a family who will work with her and her new veterinarian on a weight loss plan to keep her healthy. Her ideal home would not have other dogs so Jemma Jean can enjoy her peace and quiet while also soaking up all the attention.

Does Jemma Jean sound like the loyal companion you need in your life? If she's not in her kennel, ask for her in DCHS's Adoption Center because she may be dozing in an office. To learn more about Jemma Jean, visit www.giveshelter.org/adopt

With the interest shown this week regarding the available female Rottweilers, I’d like to share some info on MidAmerica Rottweiler Rescue for people who aren’t familiar with their organization. MARR rescues and re-homes lots of great rotties in eight Midwest states, including Wisconsin. In addition, they can offer assistance with transportation for adopters in the areas they serve. They can always use foster homes as well. Please check out their website or page for more information. Thank you!

Sharing another female rottweiler who is in need of a new home. Please contact Theresa Felchuk with questions.

6 year old female rott located in Chicago/Wisconsin area. Needs a new home before September or will have to go to a shelter. Name is Negrita, she is great with people. Not good with cats and small dogs.

Six months ago I started helping my 74 year old neighbor take care of Negrita. Her grandson had found Negrita outside about 2 years ago and dropped her off at my neighbors. My neighbor cannot walk well let alone take care of Negrita.

Negrita is kept in a small space inside her home unable to roam freely. When I started helping with her, she was overweight due to the confinement and no walks. Since helping, her health and happiness has soared. She is super chill mainly lounges around inside and loves walks. Need to find her a home before I move in September!

UPDATE 11/19: Axle is safe!! A direct adoption with the vet clinic happened this evening. Let’s all pray it’s his furever home and he thrives there. 🖤🤎

We have an URGENT request for a Foster/FTA!!! This boy is only 8 months old. He has all the traits for a great dog and will need someone to train and love him. Through no fault of his own he is in a vet clinic that can not keep him due to the shelter is full. Please can you help this young man? Details: Axle was surrendered to the Vet clinic as the shelter was too full to take him. He is urgent (deadline of 11/20) due to space as they are not a shelter and don’t have ability to hold dogs. At his first home the owner had cancer and said Axle was too much for her. At his second home it was stated he didn't get along with the other dog. Axle has done great with the vet and staff. This guy loves people and is very friendly with everyone at the clinic. He can be a little high energy and has not beenaround young kids and may be too much for them with the puppy energy still. Never been around cats and selective with other dogs. He does need some leash training and will pull. Axle will make a great dog for someone--he just need proper introductions and some training.
Notes from evaluator: Axle is a really good boy. He knows sit and shake and loves to play ball. He was reluctant to give up his squeaky toy so may need some training on resource guarding. However, he did not exhibit resource guarding with his food as the vet tech took his food bowl away with no reaction. On the cat test, the cat reached out to swat him and Axle did not react other than being surprised. He did good with female dogs on the dog test but not with the males they introduced him to. Axle is smart and definitely has a lot of puppy energy. Axle takes treats gently.

We at MARR are trying to figure out why Blocker hasn’t been adopted yet!! ⚠️We need to find him a home by 11/14!!⚠️

Blocker is a playful and social, neutered 1 year old boy. He gets along with men and women alike, LOVES children (lives with a 12 yr old boy), and is great at playing with and sharing toys with the two female dogs he currently lives with. Blocker has had two different interactions with cats and ignored the cat both times so we feel he will be good with cats as long as there are slow intros. He has shown he’s able to get along with small dogs as well as large dogs, although slow introductions are always preferred.

We’re told there isn’t too much to dislike about Blocker, he’s really a great boy! He’s social and playful at home, assertive but not aggressive. Still a puppy, Blocker has high energy when he’s playing but he also knows how to go to his crate to decompress.

This Good Boy knows Sit and Wait. He is good on a leash; he’s very curious on walks and will only react when a dog barks at him.

Blocker absolutely loves attention, belly rubs, his Kong, peanut butter and of course, any treat you’re willing to dish out! Blocker will make a wonderful addition to any active, Rottie savvy household. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting this wonderful boy, please fill out an application at www.adoptarott.org/adopt
