When we want detection dogs to alert AWAY from source 🎈🎈🎈💨🐩 #latexdetection #detectiondog Toby is in training to search for and locate different sources of latex particles. When Toby comes into contact of airborne latex at a specific threshold he is rewarded for a fringe alert - away from source. Any form of natural rubber latex is dangerous with a latex allergy, but the high amount of latex that’s needed to make a single balloon is life threatening. 🚨🚨🚨 To give a comparison: the ratio between latex gloves to balloons are 1 to 4,700 units. And because balloons are coated in powder, the latex particles can easily travel in the air for several hours to days depending on the environment. If a single balloon would bursts, approximately 2000 to 5000 particles are released into the environment. Trust your training, trust your dog. 🛏️💨🐩 Toby had the opportunity to check a collection of mattresses to help determine which were latex free or contained latex. The sales rep told me that the black mattresses Toby indicated on (sit - telling me he smelled latex) was latex free and that the purple mattresses contained latex (that Toby didn’t show any change of behavior to). As my own handled error, after receiving the input from the sales rep I over worked the purple mattresses - and even still, Toby didn’t give me anything, except for pulling me straight to the black mattresses and alerting to it. We later checked online that the black mattress “Plush Comfort” does contain latex and the Purple mattresses are confirmed latex free. We’ve been holding out on you guys, but now it’s time to show off this little diva! 🤩 Meet our newest service dog prospect, Bina! 💕🐩 This gorgeous Standard Poodle puppy is as sweet as honey, and has so much love to give! She’s currently available for placement in our service dog program and ready to start her training! What I love about Bina is she represents all of the amazing traits a Standard Poodle has to offer! Shes sweet and social with everyone that has greets her, devouring them in puppy kisses💋🐶.
