We lost our much loved disabled pet to cruel and unrepentant hunting scum in Nov past. We had hoped to see some punishment met on those involved, by those who are in power...yet again, we are sorely disappointed. The offenders will not be punished by the council, despite witnesses, overwhelming circumstantial evidence and a post mortem report. A very clear message has been sent by Mid Ulster & Armagh Borough Councils....if you Hunt with dogs you can go where you want and do what you want with no fear of punishment. It is disgusting. We are disgusted.

Whilst we await a ban on XL bullies, not a word is spoken on the danger of other hunting breeds in the wrong hands.
Uncontrolled sight and scent hounds are legally free to roam and chase whatever they literally see or smell. Our sweet pet was one pet chalked up to 'collateral damage' in this needless sport. Mauled, mangled and left for us to discover while the dog's owners tracked their dogs to, and past, the place of her attack and death.
Dangerous dogs are not the issue, dangerous owners are. Northern Ireland Assembly please take the earliest opportunity to ban blood sports in Northern Ireland before anymore pets or livestock are killed. Its 2024, we should not be held to ransom by blood thirsty men and women, who derive pleasure watching pets and wildlife being ripped to shreds. You need only watch what they post in their private facebook groups to see the joy that they simply cannot contain, lining up their kills with abhorent pride. I have watched these videos, read their sickening comments, I wouldn't want anyone to have to see them...they are barbaric.
This is happening here in Northern Ireland. Today.
This is animal cruelty.

Positive meeting with the USPCA this morning on discussion around legislation to protect cruelty of animals here in NI.
I think we can all agree, our current laws are nowhere near fit for purpose! Animal cruelty is unacceptable. This must change. I look forward to working on and supporting changes to legislation.

Local friends, please send over any information that could help. Your name will not be used or passed on, its purely to gauge the extent of the problem we have with people coming from outside our area to hunt with dogs, often causing feelings of fear and intimidation.
If we don't act on the problem, nothing will change....please reach out if you can help add some weight to the issue.

A common theme we are constantly hearing, is that many of the 'run in's' local people have experienced with men hunting with dogs, is the that they are not local. Many come from other counties and council areas, making it difficult to for authorities to impose penalties on those breaking the law.
We would appreciate if you could reach out (completely anonymously) and tell us your experiences with hunters, and where you believe/know they are from.
We are very aware that locals in the Mid Ulster area are also involved and have connections with similar minded people from further afield. ...as are the authorities, but the fact that we are being hounded and tormented by non locals also is unacceptable.
Our aim is to collate some figures and pass these on to mlas, both locally and in these other areas, and the councils in these areas.

This is still legal. Its 2024. Most of us thankfully learned the definition of 'right and wrong' as small children. When will these people ever learn? When will our politicians get back to their job and address this very black and white problem. Northern Ireland does not want this.

A slow, agonising death should not be a feature of any 'sport'....
Get your act together and pass a ban. Our wildlife and countryside have suffered this fear for embarrassingly too long. The people of Northern Ireland do not want this, in any way shape or form. Its a barbaric, dystopian filthy activity that has no place in Northern Ireland.

If we keep shouting, someone will have to listen.
Hunts, organised, or otherwise, are nothing but an antiquated, foul activity, causing death, destruction and pain. The Bailey family have suffered both emotionally and financially, yet where do they seek compensation or recourse? These grey areas need rubbed out and the lines of legislation redrawn as a matter of urgency. Whilst we still seek justice for the loss of our much loved pet, hunting remains a non-priority with Stomont and local councils.
We have had so many residents, local and further afield reach out. The consensus is clear, the majority of NI residents abhore hunting. We've been asked for advice on helping seek welfare checks for hounds clearly mistreated, retold stories of hunts causing havoc and even hunt dogs left behind with injuries that subsequently have led to their deaths. It is not OK. None of this is OK, and to live in a country 'run' by many who think it is, it nothing short of unacceptable.

Farmers and animal welfare groups have called for stricter laws after an increase in incidents relating to dog-led hunts.

Whilst the boxing Day hunts take place, remember the priority for these gatherings is to chase, terrifying and ultimately shred wildlife, often over property with no permission sought, causing untold damage and upset.
I pray for the day when this is illegal. When God's creatures are safe from the blood thirst of men and women who perversely take pleasure causing death and destruction.
Pets, livestock and property is all too commonly collateral damage. This Christmas was the first in 12 years without our Coco 💔, with today's hunt gatherings freshly reminding us of the pain these hunts (on foot or horseback) can cause.
Lobby your MLAs, share our posts and oppose this barbarity at every opportunity. The voiceless deserve much, much more.

As we approach the Christmas holidays, we inevitably will see an increase in hunting.
Notoriously a peak period for this savagery, it is imperative that anyone with small animals, including pets and livestock both, remain vigilant. When Coco was mauled to death just over a month ago, these dogs appeared from nowhere, at lightening speed, their irresponsible owners lagging behind with their tracking devices....the damage already done.
For anyone following our personal case, the investigation is still ongoing, we have been pushing both the PSNI and local councils firmly and consistently.
The long and short however is that until a ban is implemented, we have little choice but to protect our own.
🌟 Put up signs on and around your property. Make it very clear that hunting on your ground is NOT PERMITTED, and that anyone found trespassing will be prosecuted.
🌟 Keep your small animals in, and don't let them wander unsupervised (which I appreciate is a nigh impossible task with cats).
🌟 Report anyone hunting on your ground or in the area illegally.
🌟 If you can afford CCTV please do get it installed.
Until Stormont decide to get back to work, we can do nothing but protect ourselves. I have every confidence that the ban will be passed, but until then, stay vigilant, report any sightings and don't be afraid to speak up! The innocent victims, who cant, need us to 🦊🦡

This is a warning post to pet & poultry owners in the Drummullan (BT45 7XX) area of south Derry as a hunt with hounds will be in attendance today. Please keep your cats & dogs safe indoors from 12noon to 4pm aprx…….
We hope all the horses & ponies get around safely as land is very wet due to torrential rain as past couple of days……
And let’s hope the horses are not left standing & sweating in cold lorrys for hours while their owners are in the Sit & Sip Bar like last year.
People from the area will be keeping an eye out……
