Carpal Joint Injections
This barrel horse is getting her spring “tune up” before she starts running more frequently whenever this weather decides to finally break (does anyone else have a farm or arena that is underwater?? 🪸🐠🙋🏻♀️)
This horse’s owner noticed she didn’t feel quite right when she was riding her, and maybe that she wasn’t as snappy or firing as hard when doing a pattern. After a lameness evaluation, we noted soreness in her knees. After discussing different options, we came up with a plan that best suited the horse and the owner— and we got a fun video to share too!
If we gotta work in this weather, we might as well have some fun! Snow or shine, we are here for your horses✨
Positive flexion test
Flexion tests are used to help localize a possible lameness during a performance evaluation. This horse may have appeared sound when traveling in a straight line, but once trotted in a circle or flexed, lameness became apparent. Don’t worry! With joint supplementation and maintenance joint injections, this horse went on to win her next race!
Is it time to schedule a thorough performance evaluation to keep your horse at the top of its game all winter long? ❄️🐎
