We get asked about “scoping” a lot! Here is a little synopsis of the difference between the two types of scopes we offer at Longview.

If you have questions about gastroscopy, or stomach scoping, come hang out with us July 31st to learn more.

If you’re interested in getting your horse’s airway scoped after a run, just reach out and ask us where we will be next. We will be posted up at Penland Farms in the event barn in stall 1 this weekend (July 20th) See you there!

Awesome lecture by Zomedica all about shockwave. We use the PulseVet machine that they discuss in this video daily!
Instead of scrolling through funny dog videos, or whatever fills your feed, give this a watch to help you and your horse stay on top!

…and if you’re left with any questions, give us a call!

New business cards because our girl Jaide Serock passed her board exam— which means she now has some extra fancy letters behind her name!! We could not be more proud of her and all her hard work. We are so lucky to have such an intelligent and compassionate horsewoman on our team!

Congrats Jaide Serock, CVT 🐴✨

See y’all there!🐴✨

It’s hard to believe with all the rain and SNOW that we’ve been getting hit with, but spring shows are right around the corner! Two weeks until the Panty Raid— are you ready? Is your horse ready?

The LVC team will be in Springfield next weekend and available for Upper Airway Endscopy (scoping of the airway/trachea). Have you ever wondered why your horse isn’t preforming like they used to, or if their bad habits in the pen are not behavioral, but due to something more sinister? Upper Airway Endoscopy is a great tool to check if your horse is experiencing exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage, and to determine if there is normal function of the parts of the upper airway. Call us and let us know if we can help you to perform at the next level or catch us at the show if you have any questions!

This barrel horse is getting her spring “tune up” before she starts running more frequently whenever this weather decides to finally break (does anyone else have a farm or arena that is underwater?? 🪸🐠🙋🏻‍♀️)

This horse’s owner noticed she didn’t feel quite right when she was riding her, and maybe that she wasn’t as snappy or firing as hard when doing a pattern. After a lameness evaluation, we noted soreness in her knees. After discussing different options, we came up with a plan that best suited the horse and the owner— and we got a fun video to share too!

If we gotta work in this weather, we might as well have some fun! Snow or shine, we are here for your horses✨

Santa already came for us this year— clean bills of health for some of our favorite patients, and western scrub tops!? What more could a clinic ask for… well maybe an indoor arena— STRICTLY for business of course!😉

Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and merry Christmas! Share your favorite Christmas gifts below! 🎄🐎❄️

Flexion tests are used to help localize a possible lameness during a performance evaluation. This horse may have appeared sound when traveling in a straight line, but once trotted in a circle or flexed, lameness became apparent. Don’t worry! With joint supplementation and maintenance joint injections, this horse went on to win her next race!

Is it time to schedule a thorough performance evaluation to keep your horse at the top of its game all winter long? ❄️🐎

Just heard it is National Day of the Horse! Well a day late— but what vet was ever on time?!

We consider ourselves privileged to be able to spend our days surrounded by the animals we love. It’s every day at Longview, but it’s always a good reminder to think about the good ones in our lives and be thankful for all they have given us and continue to teach us.

Share a picture in the comments of your special horse. Here’s two of our favorites: Jackie on Ripple and Dr. Sutton on Frenchie

We wanted to share the step-by-step process of how we use Restigen PRP to help enhance the healing process in an injured tendon… but our model became the opposite of a model citizen, so we opted to get the job done without pictures and videos, then share some information on what PRP is instead!
Platelet rich plasma is created by collecting blood from your horse, then using a specialized centrifuge and reagent kit to concentrate platelets (and growth factors). This can then be injected into an affected joint or injured tendon/ligament to enhance the body’s normal healing response!
