Safe Haven Rescue MS is a small 501c3 non-profit Rescue that is home foster based.
Many do not realize the calls, texts, emails we receive daily asking for help.
With only 4 fosters and the President of the rescue, we currently have 42 rescue dogs in our homes. That means multiple are in each foster with one housing 28 alone.
We are in desperate need of dog houses, shavings from Tractor Supply, dog food (we only use valu pak black from the co-op)and funds to continue the care they need.
Safe Haven Rescue MS has taken on some big medical cases on dogs that would have otherwise died without care. That is a huge task when funds are at our all time low.
All donations are 100% tax deductible and greatly appreciated.
With the season of giving and giving thanks, we pray our miracle will come so we can continue to do what we so desperately love. Saving lives one dog at a time.

Having very few fosters and over 40 animals in our care, when we have NO choice but to "house them " it comes with a cost.

This bill is $256.14 for one month of electricity and water. That was to keep 32 dogs safe, warm, and fresh water and linens. If they were in boarding, that would have been $12-$15 per dog per night. Add that up and the savings speaks for itself.

However, we are not in the position to keep housing these dogs if we can't get some financial assistance. Donations are at an all time low.

We also went through 200 # of food at a total of $144 for the month of October.

If we could get 20 people to donate $20 (less than a dollar available day), we could ensure the bills are covered for one month.

Can't do $20, we will appreciate anything you are able to donate.

Share & maybe someone you know may just be willing to help small rescues like ours. We don't get federal or state grants or assistance. We don't have any paid board officers.

We do, however, have some high school students who help out several evenings a week and that runs about $200 a month.

So roughly $600- $700 a month for the safety of our rescue dogs to be off the streets, out of the shelters, and in a home environment.

Every day (and night) is calls, texts, email & messages asking us to "help" and "take " dogs of all ages, breeds, and health.

Yet, we ask for fosters and get "I don't have time. " "I have 3 dogs already " "I have son/daughter allergic" (yet they have animals) and the list goes on & on.

What we do have is 3 dedicated fosters who help by fostering multiple over & over. And the rescue President has 28 fosters plus 9 personal to tend to every day.

The point being, we need help. If you can't foster, perhaps donate. We are currently in need of dog houses, shavings, & dog food.

We also need assistance in paying the utilities for the rescue house. This house allows us the safety for the ones we can't get into fosters. Our current electric bill is $253 and the water bill is $38.

Then we have vet bills of procedures not covered by northern rescues that we must pay for. Again, when sponsors are scarce and donations are almost non-existent, the animals are the ones who suffer the most.

Please, if you can donate $5 or do an online order at Tractor Supply Brookhaven for Safe Haven,Chris Segura, we would greatly appreciate it, and the dogs even more so. (The shavings are on sale for $6.99 a bag and we need 10 bags by Saturday afternoon.)

We've been so busy saving lives, we totally missed our post timing for the ones needing sponsored.
We had MaeMae, Zeus, Allie, Ollie, Bennie, & Snowball this week. Each with their own story of sadness turned to safety and now onto love and being in a home.
Rescue is always filled with ups & downs, but we take joy in the ones able to move on and become a family member and leave Mississippi behind.

Each sponsorship is $50 and goes towards the care we provide for each one. From grooming, vetting, deworming, feeding and more. We can't do all this without our amazing followers and donors, who we greatly appreciate.

Today is a big day for5 of our rescue dogs. Reproductive control to eliminate the over population of unwanted pups. 5 will be s/n today and that means thousands of puppies will never be born & dumped, by doing a procedure that is available to everyone.

3 spay & 2 neuter! Be the change to help Mississippi with so many dumped pups & dogs.

Congratulations to Tanya Stringer for winning $162.50 on the 50/50 raffle

As we approach the fall season, what better time than the present to a fundraiser.

50/50 raffle has been a success for our rescue in the past, so we are excited to offer everyone a chance to join in. Not only does this help the dogs in our care, it also helps the person who wins the other half.

Some donate it back, others keep some & offer some back to the rescue. Regardless, it's a blessing for the rescue and dogs.

November 10th, 2024!! That's when Lil Rose became a Safe Haven Rescue MS momma dog. She had pups that went to Maine once they were ready, but Lil Rose had to stay behind. Spay, care, vaccines, Heartworm treatment as she was HW+, proheart injections, monthly preventions, food, shavings, toys and more.

To know her is to love her. Finally, Lil Rose has completed her time with me & Mississippi. She was able to go to Maine and reunited with one of her daughters (now full grown) and be fostered to find her furever home.

Lil Rose, aka Mississippi Rosebud, you will be missed but your life is all uphill from here. Stay sweet and enjoy Maine as much as I have in my life.

Every day is a new day, and with that are challenging situations we deal with.

Today is no exception. As we had 2 recent intakes going for s/n today (yes, we will always s/n despite any "special " breed worth $) and a call for help had us getting a small scruffy dog to our vet as an emergency.

Found under a house, scared & injured, we had no idea the extent of his injuries. Upon arriving, it looks as if he was hit and injured badly to where he couldn't really walk.

Praying he isn't paralyzed (although we've had our share of those, too), we did xrays and a full exam. We named him Thatcher.

Thatcher is estimated to be about 7-8 months old, severe injury to the inside of one leg with a huge laceration and infection. Xrays also showed the other leg broken bones that will require cage rest to heal. And a fractured pelvis.

Poor Thatcher is in pain. He is being made comfortable with pain meds, antibiotic and TLC with the staff at Animal Medical Center in Brookhaven.

Thatcher will undergo surgery tomorrow to clean the wound, debride, & sutures for the open tear.

We are extremely low on emergency funds, and basic funds in general, however we would NOT turn away from this dog needing help. After all, that is what rescue is about.

When rescue dogs are happy and comfortable!! Clean space, air conditioning, blankets, fresh water, and music. They are so relaxed. Here are some of the ones with me currently.

Want to help the rescue and not sure which option is best? We are always in need of supplies, having to take care of so many in foster. If anyone has a Sam's Club membership, they have great deals on Member's Mark paper towels, trash bags, and puppy pads. All of which we use daily. We go through 4-5 trash bags a day, 5-6 rolls of paper towels each day, puppy pads galore, as well as cleaners like Simple Green, Bleach, and household cleaners.

We are excited with this, as Tito's has donated to rescues across the USA and chose us to be their partner in Mississippi.
