Christmas was quite eventful for our rescue. All the furbabies got a special made treat and loved them. Fiona (our paralyzed Malti-poo) is settling in well and so sweet. Jeb and Jacks love laying by the Christmas tree, while Stella and Joker get to enjoy the lights on the other tree and the holiday music in the background.

Lily, Paris, Teddy, Sparky, Charmin, Tito, Elsa, Bobby, Dobby, Jamie, Missy, Asher, Snow, Winter, Frost, Lucky, Mercy, Luna & Freya all got extra loving and lots of added treats.

They are all safe, loved, and cared for which is far better than the alternative most faced before.

We took in a pregnant chihuahua Tuesday evening and had x-rays done Wednesday to see how many to expect. The Dr said 7 possibly 8..... so we waited. As we expected, Maggie Mae went into labor 4pm Christmas day and we have 3 beautiful girls and 4 sweet boys all looking like momma.

We are in need of some supplies for all these furbabies. Valu Pak black dog food is high protein and good for all ages and stages, and small enough for even the smallest dogs to chew. We can always use cleaning supplies like trash bags, paper towels, odoban spray cleaner, anti-bacterial cleaners, and laundry detergent. (we wash 3-4 loads a day so everyone gets fresh blankets 2x a day)

Our Christmas miracle pups was the best gift we could have asked for. A safe delivery and a momma who is doing her best to care for them, while we get to enjoy watching them.

Our 4 bottle baby chi pups, that have been in foster for several weeks, are now ready to transition to mush and are thriving, thanks to an experienced bottle feeder.

Trixie and Koa are still in fosters and are such a pleasure. They steal the hearts of everyone who sees them.

Soldier is with the vet tech and we can't wait to see him again on Monday. He is doing amazing in his wheels and has the best disposition and thankful to be saved.

We pray everyone had a Merry Christmas and we look forward to 2026 and still striving to make a difference, one dog at a time.

It's not too late to make an end of the year donation. All donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated as we are only to continue the care we do, with donations from others who love what we do and love animals as much as we do.

Thank you for all your support and love.

We have dogs of all ages and sizes, and do not "cherry pick " who we help.

Sometimes that means having a single dog for months on end.

Mercy, 8 yr old Jack Russell mix was found wandering around the Mercy House rehabilitation house, being cared for best they could until help arrived.

Mercy is fully vetted. 19 # and loves people. Her only downfall, she is set in her ways and doesn't want to share her life with other dogs (or cats for that matter)

Mercy is a sweet dog. She is just misunderstood and is looking for a family to love her. Perhaps an older couple, or single older person who can share their home & lap with her.

Mercy has been with us for 5 months and not one single person has shown any interest.

Our hearts break for Mercy. She deserves a happy ending. Please, share, and help Mercy find her final furever to live her golden years in.

*UPDATE * Paris has her Christmas 🎄 wish come true. Thank you Maine Coast Animal Rescue

Paris is an amazing 7 month old Boston Terrier mix who came to us alone & unsure. She was owner surrendered and was said to have not been with other dogs.

So, in rescue, we do what we do best. We love them and introduce them to nee things. This included meeting new friends.

Paris, now fully vetted and spay and 4DX-, loves to play with kids, people, & other dogs. She is so sweet & happy.

Paris is looking for a family for Christmas 🎄 Her only request, love her for her entire life & she will return that love 10 fold.

We are shocked that Paris is still with us. After all, who wouldn't want an amazing young dog that would bring joy to their life.

Paris is kennel trained and house trained. Loves toys, a soft blanket, and friends to play with.

Please help us get Paris into a home of her own for Christmas 🎄.

We have had some amazing dogs & pups go through our rescue and found families of their own in the past month. This really warms our heart as all our efforts are making a difference for each one.

However, occasionally we get a few that get overlooked, forgotten, and they sit & wait. Dutchess is one of them. After 393 days, she FINALLY has her travel ticket out of Mississippi. We couldn't be happier for her and are looking forward to some amazing updates once she arrives up north.

We also have some that have required emergency care, and are still under vet care.

Little Koa, a 5 week old applehead chihuahua, weighing at 15 ounces came to us 2 weeks ago and had us worried with not eating or holding anything down. Today, he's a spunky little itty bitty cutie.

Clementine, long haired daschund, who had already underwent surgery for Bladder stones, ended up in ER care again 3 weeks later. This time for constant vomiting, mucus bloody diarrhea, lethargic, depressed and not eating. IV, care, love & time, she is back to her spunky self..

And then there is Soldier. This sweet boy is a big boy at 60 # and paralyzed. He was in a ditch for 4 days while the owner and others just drove on by. He was finally picked up by one of our fosters and rushed to our vet. Xrays show a spinal injury and not a good prognosis. But, we knew the next step would be, help for him to walk & move. Soldier was neutered this week and when he gets his sling for walking time, he takes off with confidence and strength using his front legs. Soldier will be fitted for a wheelchair and we pray he can adapt and have a life with a family in the near future.

There are so many animals in need in Mississippi and even within our own communities. Rescue is the difference between life & death for most.

Being a home foster based rescue, we are always in need of fosters. We provide all the necessary items and vetting. We just ask that you provide love & safety.

We hope & pray Koa, Clementine & Soldier get the happy ending they deserve, as so many before them have.

Donations are at an all time low. Rescue funds are pretty much depleted and we owe on our current medical cases.
If you are a business owner and would like to make an end of the year donation, it would be greatly appreciated and is 100% tax deductible.

If you are an animal lover and want to be a part of saving them with us, any donation (whether $1 or $100) is appreciated. Every dollar makes a difference.

If you can't donate, please share. Let's try and make a difference together, $1 at a time.

Saving dogs/pup/kittens comes with a cost. A cost of dedication, time away from family, little sleep, lots of stress, and more money than we could ever gather for our rescue animals.

Yet, every day, we continue to save lives, do our best, and try to make a difference. Fundraisers are slim. Donations are almost at a complete halt, and the rescue is drowning in vet bills, meds, and supplies needed.

Each transport, we try to raise sponsors for the ones we've saved and are blessed enough to go to a northern rescue and families. However, there are a lot of necessities for each animal that is not covered.

I know we are headed into the Holiday season, but we are also hopeful that donors are willing to give the gift of a donation/sponsor for our rescue. Just think, if each person who follows us would sponsor, we'd actually have money in the rescue account to get toys, and more. But sadly, we are in need of basics like dewormer, puppy pads, vaccines, paper towels, gloves, cleaner, food and more.

Those from the October 23rd transport still needing sponsor are Ella, Tucker, Ellie Mae, & Oliver. At $50 per pup/dog to sponsor, you are helping save a life.

Then we had the November 6th trip with lots of lucky pups and 1 kitten move to New England and we are super excited for all of them. Yet, EACH one still needs a sponsor. We had Scuba, Precious, WWF, Panda, Paco, Bandit, Bella, Pepper, Fern, Lulu, Pecan (kitten), Chanel, Cotton, Beigner, Lucas, & Daisy. That is 15 dogs and 1 kitten. What a huge blessing.

Now, we have our November 20th list getting ready to go and get their final vet check for the all clear to travel. This will be the lucky week for Bruno, Juno, Razzle, Dazzle, Ember, Bambi, Ghost, Caramel, Lucy, Clover, & Carter. Another 11 lives saved and our hearts are filled with joy.

If you are able to sponsor ANY of the 30 dogs/pups and 1 kitten at $50 each, PLEASE donate/sponsor. We will give you a big shout out and you will know you helped save a life.

We have PayPal and Venmo. Please put a name in the memo as to who you are sponsoring. We also take checks, or cash, if local. Please in the season of giving, help give to the small rescue who tries so hard to do big things for our area.

Thank you and God Bless.

Safe Haven Rescue MS is a small 501c3 non-profit Rescue that is home foster based.
Many do not realize the calls, texts, emails we receive daily asking for help.
With only 4 fosters and the President of the rescue, we currently have 42 rescue dogs in our homes. That means multiple are in each foster with one housing 28 alone.
We are in desperate need of dog houses, shavings from Tractor Supply, dog food (we only use valu pak black from the co-op)and funds to continue the care they need.
Safe Haven Rescue MS has taken on some big medical cases on dogs that would have otherwise died without care. That is a huge task when funds are at our all time low.
All donations are 100% tax deductible and greatly appreciated.
With the season of giving and giving thanks, we pray our miracle will come so we can continue to do what we so desperately love. Saving lives one dog at a time.

We have an account at Trustmark Bank, if anyone wants to make a direct donation. We also have PayPal & Venmo, as well as a PO Box for a mailed check. (PO Box 5993. BROOKHAVEN MS 39603)

As always we appreciate every donation no matter how small. Every dollar makes a difference.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts 💕. God Bless.

Having very few fosters and over 40 animals in our care, when we have NO choice but to "house them " it comes with a cost.

This bill is $256.14 for one month of electricity and water. That was to keep 32 dogs safe, warm, and fresh water and linens. If they were in boarding, that would have been $12-$15 per dog per night. Add that up and the savings speaks for itself.

However, we are not in the position to keep housing these dogs if we can't get some financial assistance. Donations are at an all time low.

We also went through 200 # of food at a total of $144 for the month of October.

If we could get 20 people to donate $20 (less than a dollar available day), we could ensure the bills are covered for one month.

Can't do $20, we will appreciate anything you are able to donate.

Share & maybe someone you know may just be willing to help small rescues like ours. We don't get federal or state grants or assistance. We don't have any paid board officers.

We do, however, have some high school students who help out several evenings a week and that runs about $200 a month.

So roughly $600- $700 a month for the safety of our rescue dogs to be off the streets, out of the shelters, and in a home environment.

Please consider a donation to Safe Haven Rescue MS and remember, all donations are tax deductible.

The pups and our team appreciate it. ❤️

November 10th, 2024!! That's when Lil Rose became a Safe Haven Rescue MS momma dog. She had pups that went to Maine once they were ready, but Lil Rose had to stay behind. Spay, care, vaccines, Heartworm treatment as she was HW+, proheart injections, monthly preventions, food, shavings, toys and more.

To know her is to love her. Finally, Lil Rose has completed her time with me & Mississippi. She was able to go to Maine and reunited with one of her daughters (now full grown) and be fostered to find her furever home.

Lil Rose, aka Mississippi Rosebud, you will be missed but your life is all uphill from here. Stay sweet and enjoy Maine as much as I have in my life.
