Taking the dogs out in the vacant horse pasture, they love running around Ceili came back with me, but Rian and Lucy stayed out there for an hour! Sun was beautiful. I am about 90% sure that Lucy is pregnant. I’ve seen a couple of classic signs she’s just three weeks today one more week and we get an ultrasound to confirm puppies! Mistake: Lucy is the second dog, the blonder one on the side and it’s Rian who is at the very end
Thank you Jamie for what a great caretaker you are
The dogs enjoying a fall run, this time in the really tall grass in the front of the house, beyond where I still mow. they used to be able to get through the fence. they aren’t allowed to go through there often.
Another run in the fields and this time I did some mowing to mow some paths for them. We haven’t run into any ticks since spring but I don’t want to press my luck. so this way I mowed around the outside and a couple of paths up the middle might help.
Puppies are doing great outside, going potty after the meals it takes very little encouragement to get them to go over on the grass. Some of them come up by themselves and now they’re coming out into the yard. They like it.
This litter is promised I am taking names for my waitlist for next spring
Puppies four weeks old had a second meal tonight starting to play a little bit. I missed it with this video but they were play fighting and grabbing that little toy and will probably be climbing out of the box in a couple days so I’ve got to get the outdoor pen, ready beautiful litter.
And here are the girl puppies. again as you can see very similar size slight variation in color, just a lovely group
I took this video I have one male left to place. I will do another one later focusing on the females, but I wanted to point out how these puppies are very similar! The size is close , the color slightly varies, and that’s always interesting. some will be more of a medium gold and some will be a little lighter gold, but Ceili was very light. She only had the medium gold on her legs, her tail s and her ears, so I see that in most of these puppies, it took her two years to get to the color. She is now.
Ceili prepping for her birthing in another week
OK Lucy’s last intro agility class at Northfield. This time we were able to do the whole course one dog at a time and Off Leash. a couple of the dogs couldn’t quite handle that they needed to go back and do it again with the leash because they didn’t, you have to have a good, solid come. And my dogs are all used to being off leash and coming because I’ve got the fenced yard, but conversely, they’re not as good on the leash! and Even the first time she did quite well. this is the second time and we reverse the order , for those of us that did well with it. We were able to do it the second time and change direction so that’s why you’ll see I got confused as to going to the tunnel or the bridge thing first .but regardless she did very well and she made it all the way home without throwing up!!! so ginger snap pieces for treats during class help that help settle their stomach . And we took about 20 minutes before class and we tried her on the teeter totter thing she did pretty well. She got to a point where she could handle it moving just a little bit and then when she’s the instructor, she pushed it to me a little too much and once it started dropping about 6 inches she just would jump off. She says that’s normal and that’s OK but personally my idea of training is when they start to give up or get nervous? you back up and you go back to stable. but regardless we did it for a trial and there won’t be any more agility I don’t think until fall at least not with this club. and in about a week she will start her rally class, but I’m very pleased with her and if I could just take a steroid every single month on my hip? I’d be able to run around and do this all the time
Lucy had another great day at class, taking this A-frame, which was even higher without a treat. And we did much better when we took the guards off the weave poles like we have at home. And drum roll. She made it home without throwing up. yay I did try giving her ginger snaps as snacks during the class because I heard that a couple ginger snaps might help settle a stomach. She got a little anxious maybe 15 minutes on the way home and we were on a gravel road so I let her out on the road a minutes. that might help. Backseat: She can see out less. She seem to be OK after that that wasn’t happy about getting back in the backseat and I tried her in the backseat rather than the whole open back
Lucy second class for agility. She did very well , but not crazy about it when I took my foot off the wobble board and it wobbles. but otherwise she did really well and eventually did better with their weave poles. Because they’ve got theirs lower they have guards mine I let her off leash, and she does mine very easily, but we talked about my hip injury in my knee and stuff and she said well this might be the only class that I can do because once you get going and you are doing some running around the room and that’s what I figured .so I might try Rian with this class just to see if I can get him to do these things with some help? But she suggested that maybe I try scent for him (we did a year ago hen he was breeding Ceili so distracted.) and rally. it is really something I’ve always wanted to do. The class is just always full.
Lucy at the very end of class I saw that this angle board ( A frame) was empty so we just did it with no treats -targets! I tried posting this as a comment with the other one and it didn’t work so that’s why am posting separately she did really very well
OK Lucy‘s first agility class at the Northfield dog training club out on Ellsworth and Wagner Road in Ann Arbor. She was a little nervous when she first got there but that is classic for her. She always needs about 15 minutes to acclimate to a new place. She did really well and I got somebody to take these videos .to train them with putting a little treat down a couple feet in front of them, and say target, and then a target at the very end. the very last big angled thing (A frame) she did it totally at the end of class as we were leaving ,with no targets at all, yet she also did the wobble board, the platform with 2 feet on and 2 feet off, the weave poles in the tunnel
