When I was a little girl my parents would not allow me to have a dog. Cats yes. Dogs no. I was fascinated with Cocker Spaniels but the answer was always no.
It was only when I got married and had children of my own in the early 70’s that I could realise my dream of buying a Cocker. I went to a breeder and was handed a Blue Roan bitch puppy. Where where her brothers and sisters? Apparently sold. Where was her mum? Out on a walk. These replies should have made me walk out but in those days we did not really know much about bad breeders and puppy farms, so my children and I took little Sophie into our hearts and became besotted with her. The visit to the vet for inoculations prompted him to say that she was rather small for her age, I thought nothing of it.
Sophie was so sweet and adorable everybody fell in love with her. Then on her first birthday she died…..she had developed Familial Nephropathy (FN) and died of kidney failure. I then discovered that FN is a disease that can affect Cocker Spaniels. We were absolutely devastated to say the least and I became determined I wanted to try and become a responsible breeder and study dog breeding in depth.
When we moved to a farm I had the space and land to fulfil my dream hobby, producing Cockers that were bred to the breed standard but with temperaments so laid back they were almost horizontal!
I was successful and always had a waiting list for puppies. This was before the media and internet explosion so people wrote to me and sent me photographs, thanking me for their new best friend. I have the letters in scrapbooks and they can be viewed if required.
Eventually the farm became too much work for my husband, he wanted to play more golf so the farm had to go and I to retired in 2002.
It left a huge void in my life but I am now taking up my favourite hobby again in my retirement.
I have 3 top quality Cocker Spaniel bi***es, purchased from a dear friend who is a top breeder and Show judge. I have had my dogs DNA tested by a laboratory in France and they are clear of carrying the horrible FN. So buyers can be rest assured that their little pups won’t end up like my beautiful Sophie. The stud dogs also have DNA tests in their lineage.
To ensure that they have the best start in their future life as a pet they are kissed, cuddled and tickled as soon as they can be handled. We play with them every day, introduce them to hoovers, washing machines etc: Children young and old, quiet and rowdy. They are introduced to our Burmese cats and other dogs in the family. I just want to produce well adjusted, loving and faithful Cocker Spaniels.
I am fascinated with the colour Sable and have managed to produce two babies with that colour. The Kennel club does not recognise this colour and it will be stated on your KC registration document.
My pups are intended as PETS only. I do not sell them for the Show ring, you need to go to a show breeder for that. I just want them to be an integral part of a loving home.
I have a litter of 7 for sale at the moment. There are 3 girls and 4 boys.

Agnes is two and a half years old and a first time mum. With her first born Flora, she was a little too enthusiastic biting the umbilical cord leaving Flora with a tiny hernia. Her reduced price reflects the cost of a repair.
The puppies are KC registered and insured. They will be microchipped. A bag of top quality food and a comfort toy/blanket will go to their new home with them. They will be paper trained. The vet will have thoroughly examined them before they leave.
I know, as an experienced breeder, that behavioural problems can occur so I am available should any advice be needed. Any problems, large or small, I am always available to help with pups that I have produced.
