Remember this little one? We took her in for a wellness check at Oviedo clinic last Tuesday. Oddly enough, last Monday we noticed she was able to gently clean herself (something she hadn't yet done) and seemed to be able to close her mouth more. Sure enough, her jaw was gently shifting back on its own. We still took her the next day and the doctor stated they would likely not need to do surgery if the jaw continues to fix itself. The most they would likely do is remove the tooth if issues arose later on. That was excellent news!! We brought her home and are continuing to care for her and treat her eyes. This week, we received a call from a gentleman who had found a tiny kitten on the side of the road all by herself with no mom or others in sight. He and his girlfriend took the baby home and bathed and bottle fed her. They brought her to us the next day and we immediately noticed her jaw would not close properly. We cleaned her up, treated her eyes and were able to determine she would likely need to be seen by a vet. We have an appointment in the works and will keep everyone posted! Until then, we would love to welcome this little sweetheart to our rescue. We will definitely be setting up a fundraiser for her as soon as we have more details. In July, I reached out to a rescue coordinator, Wendy R. Johnson regarding a post I had seen requesting help with a mama cat and her babies in our area. The gentleman looking for help had recently moved into a new place and this mama cat sought him out. After feeding her, she brought him her babies. This good Samaritan reached out to a rescue friend looking for help. We were able to connect and after a couple attempts, were able to catch the first 4 babies. The next attempt was successful at catching mama and her 2 remaining babies. We brought them into our rescue, Warrior Animal Rescue and worked on socializing them. They were VERY spicy babies, but mama “Goldie” (lovingly named by her finder) was as sweet as can be and warmed up right away. After flea treating, deworming and supplemental care, we noticed 2 of the babies were not doing well. We acted quickly and started them on around the clock care. Sadly, despite our very best efforts, we lost the 2 within a day of each other. Our hearts were broken. It is so hard when we lose a life we fought so hard to save. We monitored the remaining 4 babies and provided supplemental care and are happy to report they are all improving and doing well. They were recently moved out of quarantine into a more spacious area to play and be socialized.

Oh my goodness! You would not believe what we discovered yesterday!

Felonious Gru is a polydactyl or a Hemmingway cat! Which means that he has more front toe beans than you may typically see. This is our first polydactyl kitten with Saving Livy . He has 7 toes on each front foot! Generally, a cat has 5 toes on each front foot (including a dew claw) and 4 toes on each back foot. Most times extra toes only need to be removed if causing issues. Weekly checking on the nails and trimming when needed is very important.

Isn’t Felonious Gru so darn cute with his extra toes? We just love him so much already!

We have gone through a ton of formula with these babies and with the Disney Mom babies still drinking formula as well! If you’d like to donate a bag, we would be very grateful!

Meet our precious female, all black beauty Rose! She is part of our Freedom Crew, rescued during Black History Month she was named after Rosa Parks known as ‘ the Mother of the Freedom Movement’. Rose is an incredibly sweet little soul, waiting to blossom in the right home. Rose is seeking a patient and understanding home where she can feel safe and loved. She is reserved around humans however let her run free with her brother Malcolm X and she has a blast running through the house tackling him and playing, they are not bonded but would like to go home together or to a home with another loving kitty. These darling fluffy nuggets came to us from New Hope Animal Shelter after our sister rescue, Saving Livy contacted us. They came to our rescue after their mother was tragically hip by a car, leaving 4 tiny orphans. In the care of the shelter, they enjoy getting messy with wet food/formula slurry. once in our rescue, we thought that they could benefit from bottle feeding, and you are pleasant surprise they took to it very well! They are now happy and warm after their flea bath and flea preventative, and eating very well every few hours. These babies are just the sweetest and we love giving them lots of snuggles. Follow us for more updates!

We got new intakes!

Three weeks ago our sister rescue, Saving Livy Cat Rescue got a call from Orange County Animal Shelter about (4) three-day old kittens in danger of euthanasia. They had been found in a man’s attic and been dropped off without the mom. Saving Livy called us to see if could take them. We of course said we would, and went to pick them up. When we got back to our Rescue, we immediately warmed them up in our incubator. Once warm, we gave them a quick flea bath. When dry and warm, we fed them. We were so happy to see them latch right away at their first feeding! For the first week we feed them every 2 hours around the clock!

We decided to name them after Disney princess Moms because they are all little ladies and we thought it suited them. And too be honest, we haven’t had an all girl litter before, so we took the opportunity. ☺️
These babies are now doing amazing!!

Recently, our rescue was in contact with 2 truly wonderful people that had graciously been caring for and feeding a colony of cats that were all friendly, ear-tipped and sadly abandoned. In an effort to get these sweet kitties homes, my kids and I went with a friend to drop off supplies to start the process of deworming them and getting them ready for homes. While we were there, we found many wonderful cats that need homes. However, we decided that we couldn’t leave sweet Henry behind. He was clearly very well loved and unfortunately recently picked on by another cat from another street. This sweet, big boy just took the beating without fighting back. This was evident by the scabs all over his body. His caretakers were very happy and sad at the same time (happy tears) that he was going to find his forever home. We took him home and cared for him at our rescue until he was ready for adoption. He was a little unsure at first but warmed up very quickly with love and petting. Recently he was adopted through our sister rescue, Saving Livy Rescue and we couldn’t be happier for him!

Update on Luxury Car babies: It’s hard to believe that we’ve been caring for the car babies for over 3 weeks at our rescue, Warrior Animal Rescue. In that time, we have seen incredible improvement! They have easily doubled, almost tripled in weight, weaned onto wet food and formula slurry and playing all the time. They have received their first round of shots and are growing into their personalities every day! We have loved watching them grow every day! Check out these cuties now!

Introducing the Coop/Luxury car babies. These photos and videos are when we first picked them up. Updated photos on their progress to come! Our rescue, Warrior Animal Rescue is caring for these babies, but adoptions will go through our sister rescue Saving Livy Cat Rescue. The tiny ones were found by a homeowner in their chicken coop with the mom nowhere in sight. She knew that they weren’t safe in the coop with the chickens, so she put them in a bin with straw and waited for mama to come back as long as she could since temps were dropping. One baby had already passed and she found another one gone in her garden bed. She kept them warm and fed them wet food and milk replacer. I found her via a facebook group for backyard chickens that I belong to. I reached out to help guide how to best care for the babies. After chatting back and forth for a few days, the runt of the litter sadly passed away. She trusted us to care for the rest and met me an hour away to transfer. Since in our care, they have been given flea baths (they were sadly covered in them, which is normal for living outside) and came back quickly from their anemia. All of them latched onto a bottle right away and have been fully de-wormed and given antibiotics for URI’s. They are now thriving and loving their time playing and wrestling with each other, even with bellies super full! These babies latch so well, they will literally crush a bottle! All of my kids are learning to bottle feed which will be super helpful once kitten season is in full swing!!
