Mastamariner

Mastamariner Celebrating the big canine family that is Mastamariner, those that live together at the ancestral home and the many widespread across the UK and the world!

We at Mastamariner dedicate our lives to our dogs and share this love with our large family of owners who have invited Mastamariners into their homes. This page is a place for our community to engage in the day to day lives of the dogs that currently live at their ancestral home and connect with other owners who live throughout the UK and the rest of the world. Here we celebrate the lives of those

dogs who we have lost and those that are here today through sharing and connecting with other amazing owners who have brought happiness into their dog’s lives! We love to hear updates from all of you and welcome dog posts and stories from our community, however there are a couple of guidelines in place to ensure that this page remains a positive space for owners and dog lovers to interact.

1. Please do not post any negative comments or hate to others/about others. We want to ensure that this is an uplifting page for people to visit.

2. We DO NOT advertise puppies on our page or take puppy enquires through any other social media. If you have any puppy queries, please visit the website for information. This is to ensure the safety and security of our puppies.

3. As we are a busy family and the dogs are our main priority, messages sent to the page may not receive replies. If you are a Mastamariner owner and need to contact us, please use the private email address or email through the Mastamariner website. If urgent, please contact us using the landline or mobile numbers. However, please be considerate and supportive of our lives and our dedication to our dogs. If you have any issues under investigation please contact Catherine or Graham directly, as posting on the page may be unhelpful and distressing for others. We hope that you enjoy visiting our page and we look forward to hearing the many tales of our Mastamariner family!

TODAY'S STARTER FOR 7

For the first time since 2019 we now finally enjoying the company of a litter of First Cross (F1) Border Collie x Golden Retreiver puppies.

In 2014 we were asked by a diabetes charity if we would provide them with Border Collie x Golden Retriever first crosses to be trained as diabetic assistance dogs.

We don’t let our pups go to third parties (including) charities but as this cross was so highly regarded for producing exceptionally easy, affectionate, willing and very bright dogs we decided to breed a litter as companions and see why charities were so eager to train them as assistance dogs.
The F1s were a huge success, their loving natures, gentleness and quickness to learn made them an annual feature of our breeding programme with us breeding one litter a year from 2015 onwards.

Sadly the global pandemic meant that we have bred very few puppies since it the horrors of Covid were unleashed on an unsuspecting world and no F1s have been bred at all.

Now with the pandemic behind us and with hope for the new year Rufus and Ursa have presented us with 7 little souls who are keeping us very busy and very entertained.

A question for all those interested in the genetics of colour…

All the pups are Black and White although Ursa is a GOLDEN Retriever and Rufus a red border collie - Why must all the puppies be black and white?

Please add your answers in the comments below.

All of your dogs are what make our lives special and seeing pictures of your furry friends touches our hearts, reminds us of the fond times we had with your dogs as puppies, and shows us why we love doing what we do so much. CHEEKIEST PUPPY

Puppies can definitely be the cheekiest little troublemakers around, causing mischief wherever they can, and especial love being the centre of attention! LOVELIEST LADY

It wouldn’t be fair if we chose only one lovely lady when we chose two dapper dogs, and so there are two winners for this category too! Congratulations to Jane Wilmshurst with her photo of Maisy and to Marjorie Ottley with her photo of Meg (Mastamariner Magpie).

We loved the smiles on both the girls faces and what they represent; the loveable personality of our dogs and the happiness and joy that they bring to all that they meet. We thought both of your girls were simply beautiful and both are very much the loveliest ladies. Congratulations! We send our love to them both!

MOST DAPPER DOG

As it is Christmas, we thought that it wouldn’t be fair if we just chose one winner for this category, so there are two! Congratulations to both Mollie Mountford and Paul Lush who submitted these photos of their boys!

We thought that both of these photos were amazing; showing us how regal and sophisticated the Collie can be and how magnificent the Goldie can look. We also thought that these perfect boys were great representations of a well-loved Mastamariner trait; their ability to pose perfectly and create amazing photos!

Thank you for sending these in, we send our love to them both!

MASTAMARINER 2020 ‘CHRISTMAS COMPETITION’

Mastamariner Family; it is your dog’s time to shine!

As you guys enjoyed it so much last year, we decided to bring you all some cheer and invite you to enter pictures of your Mastamariners to this year’s Christmas competition! After a tough year for everyone, this is a great way to spread joy to people all over the globe, and we certainly enjoy receiving photos and updates of our furry family!

The rules are simple. All you have to do is post photos of your Mastamariner dogs on this post ONLY (due to the nature of one of our categories) and state the category you are entering them for. Photos can be posted from now up until 9pm GMT on 23/12/20, and winners will be posted on 24/12/20.

This year’s categories are as follows:

1. Most Dapper Dog
2. Loveliest Lady
3. Golden Oldies (9+)
4. Double trouble Duo (Best human/dog duo)
5. Cheekiest Puppy (Under 1 year)
6. Best Christmas Costume

Our final category this year is;

7. MASTAMARINER FAMILY FAVOURITE

For this category we need YOUR help! The winner of this category will be chosen by you, our Mastamariner family, by going through the photos submitted to us on this post and liking your favourites! The dog who has received the most love will then be crowned the winner of this category! Therefore, all photos entered into the competition will be counted for this category. We think this is a nice way for our community to interact with each other and a fun way for everyone to be able to get involved.

Disclaimer (To keep Facebook happy)! This is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. Please remember that this competition is purely for fun and so there are no prizes involved for those that ‘win’ a category . For all categories excluding ‘Mastamariner Family Favourite’, winners will be chosen by those running this page, and winners will be announced on 24/12/20 through Facebook posts.

As we have stated before, we run this as a fun way for owners to be able to interact with each other and express their love of their dogs, and those dogs owned by others. You are all winners in our eyes, and so we want this competition to remain fun and friendly throughout. If you have made it this far then congratulations! Please feel free to leave a comment on this post should you require some more info.

Merry Christmas everyone! -Zoe 🐾

Happy Spooky Halloween Mastamariner’s! We decided to celebrate in style this year with 2 handmade cakes, pizza, scary films and pumpkin carving to round off the evening.
With so much free pumpkin on offer, they where demanding their share. Pumpkin pulp is low in calories and is good for their digestive system.
Hope you had a fabulous day! -S

With all of this heavy rain we have been having lately, the local frogs have started to appear. Gracie, Ptolemy, Mallory and Cairo are a crack team of frog hunters on a mission.
Unfortunately, as this a very new team, they are not very good at it. We saw the frog that jumped in come out of the puddle into the safely of the hedge moments later. 10 minutes go by and they are still looking in the puddle for this frog.
I think it is safe to say that the frog is the most intelligent one out of our hunters. -S
