Let's talk about this photo. It's cute, except it's not. I see a dog who cannot get up without telling the child to get off. How do you think a dog is going to do that?

The 7 Golden Toddler Dog Rules:
#1: If a dog walks away from you, you DO NOT FOLLOW.
#2: Always leave room for the dog to walk away from you.
---that right there is 90+% of dog bites eliminated---
#3: We do not climb on the dog.
#4: We do not grab or pull on the dog.
#5: We do not hit or throw anything at the dog.
#6: We do not touch the dog's food.
#7: We do not go into the dog's kennel.

I promise these are not overly difficult concepts for littles, nor will they rob a kid of their bond with the family dog. It will deepen that bond, while keeping everyone safe.

"Oh, it looks like Moose is walking away from you. She is saying she wants a break. Let's play with this instead!"

"It's Moose's dinner time! Let's give her space to enjoy her yummies."

"That is Moose's room(kennel) and only she is allowed to go in there."

"If Moose wanted a break, could she walk away from you right now? No she really couldn't. Let's move away from the play house. You can keep playing but now she can leave when she wants a break."

In conclusion, ***parent your child or your dog will do it for you, and you will not like how they do it.***

Beautiful tricolor male looking for his perfect home. He is 16 wks old and will be getting his 3rd puppy shot this weekend to complete the puppy series. Both sire and dam are AKC Chs who are clear/normal for VwD, MDR1, both versions of PRA, CEA, DM and low risk DMS. Sire is OFA excellent and dam is OFA good for hips.
This pretty boy is running top of chart so will most likely mature +/- 16" at maturity. He is going on AKC limited registration and would do well in performance events as he is full of himself ... but still loves his 'lap time" too. Photos are from a couple weeks ago ... but he looks the same ... just a bit bigger. For further info PM me.

Finally have photos ... taken at 9 wks old ... have a couple puppies available to companion homes in mid April (after the Sheltie National). One is a tricolor boy who will be biggger ... the other is a bi-blue merle boy who will also be a bigger boy. Both sire and dam are Chs and are fully DNA tested (and clear/normal) and OFA excellent/good. These boys will be going on AKC limited registration (not for breeding) and should make beautiful companions ... they both have a lot of 'personality". For further info please contact me via e-mail ([email protected]) since PMing to this post pulls me out of FB to get to. I also will be at the Sheltie National so can access my e-mails but not this Meta site. So please either contact via e-mail as stated above.

UPDATE - "Bailey' is now in his new home down in Ohio.
"Bailey" is a beautiful 18 WEEK old Blue boy that I was growing out for show ... but alas he decided he was gonna grow a bit too much ... so he appears to be headed for maturity over the 16" limit for showing/breeding. His sire and dam are DNA tested and clear for VwD, MDR1, CEA, PRA and are hip OFA excellent and good respectively. "Bailey' is going on AKC "limited" registration (not for breeding) ... would make a very nice performance dog or companion ... very sweet and "peoplie".
Located north of the greater Detroit area. If SERIOUSLY interested please PM me or e-mail to [email protected].

FINALLY broke the "curse of the black boys" litters ... ha ha. Bugsy had a litter of 5 ... 1 girl and 4 boys ... ALL BLUES (or bi blues). It was interesting that Bugs was from a litter of 5 that were all blues as well. SO glad she gave me these blues. This litter is co-bred with Kristine Felske and she looks to be interested in the blue girl. I'm going to be watching 3 of the boys to see if they might be "show prospects" ... but there is one boy ( a smaller boy) that will most likely be available as a pet when he turns 10 wks old. They are 7 wks in this photo. Sire is CH Kyrie Chasing Fireflies and dam is Brynmere Cuter N A Bugs Ear. Both sire and dam are Dna clear for VwD, MDR1, CEA, PRA and low risk DMS ... both also are OFA hips clear as well. If seriously interested please PM me ... or e-mail to [email protected].

Wealthy Animal Extremist Investors Pushing Agenda

Animal Extremists Have Their Fingers Everywhere
In the last number of years, wealthy animal and environmental extremists and affiliated groups have been pushing hard to implement their ideology and agenda. The ideology is infiltrating investment capital, retail, restaurants, children’s schools, and even religion. Animal extremists have their tentacles everywhere.

The most harm is being done to animal agriculture. Animal agriculture is the foundation of our nation providing food, fiber, and pharmaceuticals. It is the foundation for our food security and security as a nation.

Activist Investing
Protect The Harvest has covered the trend of activist investing. Activist investing occurs when extremists use their wealth to harm animal agriculture. As time goes on the activities of these types of investors are having a greater impact. These billionaire activists buy control by purchasing stock in major companies. Then they use their financial position in the company to try to force their agenda.

Activist Investors Targeting the Restaurant Industry
Think about the last time you drove through a fast-food chain. Were there vegan options being displayed? Chances are there were. This is a new thing that influential vegan extremists have begun pushing into Americans’ laps. Wealthy ideologues are using their wealth and status to influence the American marketplace. The connection to restaurants is obvious. The food we eat comes from both livestock and crops produced on farms and ranches.

The food and restaurant industry leads back to animal agriculture. Animal extremists strive to control not only what we eat but how we eat it. They are accomplishing the control of the food we eat and how it is sourced in a variety of ways.

Carl Icahn & McDonald’s
Carl Icahn is a billionaire investor who is using his money to buy stocks in businesses like the fast-food chain McDonald’s and the grocery store conglomerate Kroger. His goals are to invest in these companies and then use financial leverage to influence their policies with his ideological agenda.

Recently Icahn issued a public letter to McDonald’s shaming their use of pork. In his letter, he claims that they do not get their pork products from ethical sources. He asserts that this is the reason modern pork production practices that he deems unethical are still in use.

These claims are simply not true. McDonald’s is responsible for 1% of U.S. pork production. They were quick to point this out in a response to Icahn’s public letter. McDonalds also pointed out that Icahn is a hypocrite. McDonald’s identified that Icahn was just pushing his extremism in areas that suited his agenda. Here is an excerpt from their response:

“In addition to the financial burden this would place on customers, Mr. Icahn has also failed to address the inherent hypocrisy of his campaign. Mr. Icahn is the majority owner of Viskase, a company that produces and supplies packaging for the pork and poultry industry. Viskase has no public commitments like those McDonald's championed in 2012 and does not limit its business to meet producers who raise their animals in the "crate-free" housing systems espoused by HSUS.”

New Campaign Aimed at Animal Agriculture – Shop With Your Heart
Beyond funding biased studies and investing in large companies to influence policy based on ideology, animal extremism is further working to implement its agenda by directly influencing consumers. Shop With Your Heart is the latest anti-animal agriculture campaign sponsored by the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). These two groups have partnered with an ideologically driven app company called “Consciously”.

The impact of farming and ranching on retail is slightly less obvious to most Americans. However, when you look at the tags on apparel it becomes apparent. Materials, for example, leather, wool, fur, and cotton are provided by animal and crop agriculture.

Consciously
Consciously is an app designed to make “ethical” shopping easy. Consciously promotes a vegan lifestyle. Their app is designed to notify shoppers if companies are “helping or hurting” ideological causes. It has tabs identifying products as cruelty-free and identifying small businesses.

Consciously subscribes to the mindset that any animal being treated like an animal is being harmed. The purpose of their app is to “help” these animals who they claim to be harmed.

They claim that animals are “raised for food” as if raising animals for food is something bad. Animals are being raised for food as they have been for centuries.

Animal Welfare Institute
The Animal Welfare Institute is best known for its campaign to institute anti-animal agriculture laws and regulations on both state and national levels. These include the Wild Horse and B***o Protection Act of 2022 (H.R. 6635), the Pet Safety and Protection Act (H.R. 3187), and the Animal Welfare Enforcement Improvement Act (H.R. 3277). All of which aim to harm pet ownership and animal agriculture.

ASPCA
The ASPCA is well known for commercials filled with sad animals where they ask you to send them money to “save an animal today”. The ASPCA does not own any animal shelters, instead the money they dupe good-hearted people out of goes towards salaries, marketing, investments, and campaigns to harm animal agriculture and pet ownership.

Dr. Gunhild A. Stordalen & EAT-Lancet
The ideological attack on the food industry is not solely limited to restaurants and grocery conglomerates. Dr. Gunhild A. Stordalen is a Swedish billionaire and scientist. She sits on multiple boards in Sweden and the UN that actively work against the agriculture industry; Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN), Movement Lead Group, the World Economic Forum (WEF), Stewardship Board on Food Systems, REQ Capital Advisory Board, and the list goes on.

Stordalen formed the EAT Forum under the guise of a non-profit organization conducting “research”. This group conducted a one-sided and biased report on food systems to implement what they consider a healthy diet. This report was published in the medical journal, “Lancet”. It is now referred to as the EAT-Lancet report.

Dr. Gunhild A. Stordalen and the EAT-Lancet report is another way that animal extremist billionaires are working to push their agenda. Based on the ideology of its founder it is clear that EAT-Lancet’s goal is to crush animal agriculture as we know it. They are further supporting their ideology by promoting the “in with the new out with the old” mentality. In this case, the old is animal agriculture which does not need to be diminished.

The EAT Forum claims to have goals of creating sustainable food sourcing through science. The group presented itself as an international forum, but it is a small group of researchers funded by vegan ideology. The EAT-Lancet report has been debunked and criticized by scientists, nutritionists, and other organizations across the globe.

California Proposition 12
California Proposition 12 is another example of how activists and their affiliated groups are using their financial influence to harm animal agriculture. California’s Proposition 12 is a direct hit to the root of the restaurant and grocery industries. Prop 12 was supported and pushed by several animal extremist groups including the ASPCA, HSUS, and others. It was filed by the wife of a wealthy television producer from Beverly Hills.

Prop 12 did nothing to improve animal welfare. Instead, the writers of the legislation created arbitrary regulations not based on science but based on the ideology of animal extremism. Prop 12 requires that farmers and ranchers in California as well as any out-of-state suppliers to California comply with their regulations.

Farmers have been humanely providing valuable animal protein products to Americans for decades. These new arbitrary regulations will make it very difficult for family-owned farms to stay in business. This proposition was sold to California voters through the idea that they would be eating more “ethically” sourced foods. What is more ethical than food farmed and raised on an experienced, generational old farm?

Prop 12 was passed by California voters in November of 2018. Its passing is due to misinformation as well as false promises made to the consumer.

The Goal is Ideology, Not Helping Animals, the Environment, or Families
Wealthy ideologues like these use their money under the guise of “helping” animals and our planet. In reality, all they do is harm. They will stop at nothing to push their ideology onto the public.

The question becomes: Is there interest in saving the planet and helping people or is it stroking their egos through what they are selling as “good” deeds? `

What You Can Do
The best weapon you have against stopping animal extremism from spreading is knowledge. Staying informed of the activities of these groups and individuals is the first step in being able to act and push back. You can make a difference.

What’s in a Word?

Factory farm: Animal extremists refer to all large modern farms as factory farms. They do this because it creates a negative association and connotation. This negative term plays into their ultimate ideological agenda of ending all animals in human care. They want to destroy the human-animal bond and the consumption of nutritious animal protein.

The language of the animal extremist lexicon is designed to ignite strong negative emotions and sway consumers into believing that all livestock operations are inherently bad, especially if they are large. Animal extremists fully ignore the fact that animal agriculturalists care about the animals in their charge. They ignore the hard work farmers and ranchers engage in to keep their animals healthy and happy because it results in a higher quality product, and it is simply the right thing to do. The reality is that the larger farms are often more likely to have more advanced technology and funds to spend on the best practices to promote animal welfare.

What’s in a Word?

The answer may surprise you more than you think.

There are many words in the English language that have multiple meanings and those meanings can be innocent or risqué, ingenuous, or manipulative, cold-hearted or compassionate. No matter what the reason for the use of the word, you can bet your last dollar that if an animal extremist uses the word, it will be done in a manipulative way, guaranteed to make a kind-hearted person open their wallet and give that organization their last penny. These words are also used to manipulate people into believing that the use of animals and animal agriculture is bad, and we all must change our diets and way of life to follow their ideology.

Animal Extremist Lexicon
The definition of a lexicon is a dictionary or the vocabulary of a language, a people or a subject. For example, we all know that medical doctors have a different language all their own; that list of words is a medical lexicon. There are lexicons for every conceivable language and animal extremism is no different. However, their lexicon uses many everyday terms in a way that, while being an actual definition of a word, adds negative emotions and connotations to it. An example of such a would be “exploit,” which is both a noun and a verb. As a noun, it’s meaning according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary is a notable, memorable, or heroic act. Exploit is also a transitive verb meaning to make productive use of (or utilize); or to make use of meanly or unfairly for one’s own advantage. It’s safe to say that animal extremist groups “exploit” caring people by subjecting them to “exploitative” language guaranteed to make them feel guilty enough to open their pocketbooks.

Animal Extremist Groups Use Language to Coerce
We will be adding to this article as we come across more language used by animal extremist groups to better help our readers prepare themselves for the continued onslaught of emotional pleas to “help save the animals” and to adopt a diet free of animal protein.

Knowing their “language” and how they use it to manipulate emotions, garner generous donations, and give people feelings of guilt helps us stay better informed. Their use of emotionally targeted words to instill guilt on those who are not “helping the animals,” or those that utilize food, fiber, and pharmaceuticals is unfair and manipulative. This lexicon helps one to recognize whether a group or individual has an animal extremist ideology, and gives one the tools to address their arguments head-on.

Frequently Used Terms
Animal extremists use anthropomorphism to influence kind-hearted individuals to accept that what they say is true. Anthropomorphism is the projection of our human thoughts, emotions, and/or characteristics onto animals. Animal extremists use words without qualification when referring to animals that implicitly invites the listeners to think the words mean the same for animals as for humans. “Mother” may have a common meaning for animals and humans in terms of genealogy and reproductive biology, but it also has an additional unique meaning for humans that is not shared with any animal.

An example of manipulative language is the innocuous “fur baby.” It is normal to have a loving relationship with your pet, and for many, their pet is their sole companion. Many people have bottle-raised puppies and kittens, taught them how to be a cat or dog, and may call themselves that animal’s mother. However, your dog or cat is not your spouse, mother, or child. The term “fur baby” can be used to manipulate people to open their wallets, sign a petition, or begin protesting about animal abuse, even when there is none.

Other words extremists use connotes some of humanity’s most brutal treatment of humans such as: concentration camp, massacre, murder, sexual abuse, and slavery. These words are liberally applied when discussing animal agriculture and animal ownership. A phrase you may hear from them is that a large modern farm is a concentration camp where animals are massacred, murdered, ‘sexually abused, and are slaves. These are obviously negative connotations which make the naïve think that farm animals are abused.

There are those who believe the simple act of owning a pet make the owner a slave owner. Those who have pets realize that the reverse is usually the reality, they are slaves to their pet.

Animal Rights - Trickery in Fundraising

Animal owners need to be aware of the true agenda of animal rights groups. It’s time that the curtain was pulled back to expose their beliefs and dishonest fundraising practices that pull in millions of dollars from goodhearted Americans who believe their donations are being used to help animals find good homes.

License Plates
In early 2018, the Humane Society of the United States snuck a fundraising effort through the New Jersey Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee. They attempted to divert funds from the New Jersey license plate that reads “Humane State” to their own coffers. Fortunately, via our educational efforts and a coalition of concerned citizens, they did not get away with it.

Extremist Group
The HSUS Does Not Own or Operate Any Animal Shelters
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) does not own or operate any animal shelters. A survey has shown that a majority of Americans believe that the HSUS is a national umbrella organization supporting local animal shelters. These same Americans and assume their donations to the HSUS are going to help shelter animals in their communities. They are often surprised to learn that the smallest portion of HSUS’s budget — less than 1% — goes to local or state animal shelters. It is also a surprise for them to learn that when the HSUS does provide grants, it is usually in a small amount $1,000 - $2,000 to pay to advertise spay-neuter campaigns, not to actually help shelter animals find homes or get the care they need.

PETA’s Shelter – Not What You Think
Like the HSUS, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is well known for practicing unscrupulous tactics in order to push their animal rights agenda. They believe in “total animal liberation”, meaning that animals should be appreciated from afar and are better off dead than in the hands of people.
PETA is infamously known for its high kill rate in its shelter. According to the website, “Peta Kills Animals”, more than 36,000 animals have been euthanized by the group since 1998. A whopping 95.9% have been killed in one year. The heartbreaking truth about the animals they euthanize is that many are adoptable. The group has been quoted saying, “animals suffer far worse fates than euthanasia, such as illness, pain and not being adoptable.”
Beyond that, they even came under fire in 2014, when PETA workers stole a dog from a family’s home in Virginia and euthanized it the same day. They were fined for not complying with the state’s 5 day grace period and had to pay the family almost $50,000 for the “accident”.

ASPCA – Not What You Think
Like its sister animal rights organizations, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has amassed millions over the years. According to its income statement found on Charity Navigator, their net revenue in 2016 was $217,398,213. Despite national fundraising tactics, the ASPCA is only affiliated with one animal shelters in New York City. This is problematic for many community shelters and humane organizations because their fundraising activities fool the public into believing their donation dollars are going to provide care for animals in their area. In fact, the State Humane Association of California filed a complaint with the California Attorney General about ASPCA fundraising due to their deceptive practices harming local shelters. Again, like other animal rights organizations, the ASPCA tries to associate itself with saving animal lives when in fact its highest priority is fundraising and pushing legislation to limit the rights of animal owners.

What the closure of the circus means:

The history of Lucas Oil is the story of the American Dream. We founded Protect The Harvest because our American heritage is important, vital and what we value most. Unfortunately, in the last number of years, Animal Extremist groups have influenced our government and legal system, threatening agriculture, animal ownership, land and water use – our very way of life.

These groups have gone after animal exhibitions. They lied about Ringling Brothers and bullied them to close the circus. This is just the beginning of increasing trouble from Animal Extremist groups. If you have followed the story of Ringling Brothers in recent years, it is easy to track the events that lead to this.

Many people don’t realize that the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) does not own, run or oversee any shelters. They have been very deceptive in their advertising in order to dupe goodhearted people into giving them money. Instead, they function as a lobbying machine pushing to create laws and regulations that suit their extremist agenda. The attacks on Ringling Brothers are many and varied and come from a number of Animal Extremist groups including the HSUS, PETA, the ASPCA and others.

There are Animal Extremist sympathizers in politics, working to change city ordinances that made it impossible for the circus to perform in those markets. Animal Extremist groups waged ongoing protests and general, constant harassment of the circus. They filed frivolous lawsuits based on false charges that lasted years in length. During the course of this legal battle, it was proven that a false witness was paid $190,000 to lie on the stand. Feld Entertainment, the parent company of Ringling Brothers then brought suit against the HSUS, the ASPCA and other Animal Rights Extremist groups and their lawyers for violations of the RICO statute and Virginia Conspiracy Act, malicious prosecution, and abuse of process. The HSUS, the ASPCA, and other co-defendants paid a combined total of $25 million in damages to Feld Entertainment.

Animal Extremists have a skewed view of reality and what is in the best interest of animals. They are trapped in ideology. In the minds of Animal Extremists, no animal should be owned, used for a purpose or exhibited, even horses and pets. THEY MAKE NO DISTINCTIONS. The real truth, science and facts mean absolutely nothing to them. They have no care or thought for the consequences of their actions. They are not concerned about how domesticated animals, who rely on humans, will survive once they “set them free”.

It does not register with them that Asian elephants used in the circus have worked among people for thousands of years. It is in this same way Animal Extremists also disregard the domestication of other animals, for example, dogs and horses. Draft horses and Shetland ponies were designed to plow the fields and work pulling heavy loads. The Arabian horse was bred for beauty, endurance and the desert environment. Dogs were bred to pull sleds in the snow, to find people, to work as guardians, to hunt, and so on. None of this is relevant to these extremists. It does not matter. They want to end animal ownership. Those of us that exhibit or compete with animals are among their many targets.

The extremists that have been attacking the circus are inter-connected groups. In addition to targeting the circus, these very same groups are the ones attacking carriage horses, pony rides, horse shows, rodeos, dog and cat breeders, animal agriculture, Sea World and more. They feel righteous and now they believe their actions are vindicated by the closure of the circus. This closure will impact animal owners everywhere. They are now pushing legislation in other areas that makes transporting animals for exhibition prohibitive. Make no mistake, horses, horse shows and rodeos are on their list. In some states they are pushing legislation that is so far reaching, no one will be able to get a dog of their choice and going to dog shows, hunting and field trials will be impossible. It could be a rough ride for all of us in the coming years.

In addition to the attacks against animal ownership, we are quietly losing our ability to provide affordable food for our nation. Farming and ranching are also being threatened by extremist groups in the United States and so are your rights to feed your family. They have successfully written and funded legislation that has made the cost of eggs and other animal products in some states, like California, skyrocket. While this legislation was rammed through on the state level, it impacts interstate commerce as well. With those successes, they have plans to target other vulnerable sectors of agriculture at grass-roots local and state levels. If that isn’t enough, there is even a “think tank” group based in Washington D.C. that is recommending a 40% tax on beef and a 20% tax on other meat products.

Some people mistakenly think that these extremist groups are so radical that they can’t have an impact. Believe us when we tell you they are counting on complacency. The European Nation is a prime example of what happens. Did you know that due to the detrimental effects of extremists, Europe as a whole, is now importing more than 60% of its food? This is a dramatic change since 1997, when at that time they imported only 20%. If you look at those numbers in a different way, in 1997 they were producing 80% of the food they consumed and today, they are only producing 40%.

We need to protect our nation’s ability to produce food. Farmers and ranchers must be able to make decisions based on science. Instead, America is falling prey to emotional appeals from radical special interest groups who know nothing about farming and raising livestock.

Now more than ever, we need to all come together to stop the animal extremists and environmental bullies. In order to protect our rights to own and exhibit animals, to protect food production and to continue to affordably feed our families we need to take action. We are working hard to inform and educate people about their agenda, but we can’t do it alone. Your help is needed. The first step is to become informed yourself. Read through our website, sign up for our newsletter and then spread the word over your social media platforms . Help us protect your right to ride and show horses, your right to own the dog of your choice, your right to raise livestock and your right to provide your family with affordable food.
