Pancake’s Rescue Story
We received an urgent email asking for help with a rescued rabbit. A kind-hearted lady had taken in the bunny from a previous owner who was neglecting her. Although we didn’t have much information at the time—only that she was a brown and white rabbit—we gave her the name Pancake.
We quickly arranged for Pancake to be dropped off at Vet Central for a full health check. The vet confirmed she was a female, around 4 years old. Sadly, Pancake was underweight, soaked in urine, and healing from urine scald burns on her belly and legs. She was also suffering from reddish diarrhoea, likely due to a poor diet. Bloodwork showed signs of dehydration, low protein intake, and excessive urination.
After a few days of medical boarding at Wigglewoods, her caregivers noticed her right hind leg stuck out awkwardly when she hopped. We sent her back to the vet for an x-ray, which revealed her right hock was turned inward. Thankfully, there was no dislocation or fracture, and the vet suspected a congenital deformity, as she showed no pain or swelling. 🥹
With another week of rest at her foster home, Pancake began to thrive—she gained healthy weight, her diarrhoea cleared up, and she was finally spayed and had fully recovered.
Through everything, Pancake has remained a cheerful, curious, and active girl who adores her hay and loves exploring her surroundings. 🥰 She’s now ready to find her forever home!
