Today check up at orthopedist:

Dexter has a chronic inflammation on his prosthesis in the leg, since the surgery in 2020. We live with it. Normally the prosthesis has to get out. The doctors can not say how and if Dexter can move without it. Dexter weights 100,5lbs and is very active, so we decided against the extaction. Todays x-rays show stability. Since the cancer is out, he has less pain in the leg and doesnt need any pain meds. We hope it stays that way for a long time.

8 years ago today late in the evening Dexter came into our lives.
Time flies. After almost loosing him twice lately, here he is, pictures from last month. Swimming and being himself. We enjoy every moment and hope for some more healthy time.

After almost loosing Dexter twice last half a year, I must admit I have difficulties to process what happened.
He is his normal self again, without cancer, wich was the goal, but the time it took (10 days after surgery he was still like a slow going co**se) and every day a new problem was found: possible bleeding, failing kidneys, not eating at all, apathy. We were devastated, only after 3 days at home we brought him back to the clinic, but they couldn‘t say what was wrong. The day after that he felt better and began to eat again.
Every time, really every time I look at him, it is like a miracle, that he recovered.

Dexter is home. ❤️
His kidneys improved. Not normal but almost.
The pathology came in today. Clean margins.

Dexter is still at the clinic. After the surgery (it was successfull, the tumour is out) on Tuesday there were complications. His kidneys were damaged and unfortunately will stay this way. He still gets infusions and can‘t be discharged.
We visited him today and brought him his food, because he didn‘t want to eat. He ate and was glad to see us.
Hope we can take him home tomorrow.

Life is a neverending battle.
Dexter has cancer again. This time it is a pheochromocytoma 0,7cm. (tumor of adrenal gland, unfortunately malign for dogs) He has no symptoms and was yesterday in a whole body CT, as no metastases were found, he will go into surgery to remove it on 1/30.

Beautiful fall 🍂

Last week we were in Dagebüll. From there we visited the Islands around. First Amrum in the rain, the most beautiful island. Then Sylt and Föhr. Dexter was well enough to enjoy the adventure. Actually he is his normal self.
Every time I looked at him, I could only think, that he could be already dead. But he was not and we had a nice vacation.

Day 15 post-op No changes. Still tilted to the right. Dexter puts the leg with the implant too far under his body. It seems, to me, like he can not turn the right hip outwards.
