Than you all so much for your support and encouragement when I was running the London Virtual Marathon on Sunday while on holiday in Maui. It was without doubt the toughest run of my life. I started at 3.30 am in the pitch black, running with a head torch. The only people around were the homeless and drug addicts. Which was pretty scary. Plus I hate running in the dark anyway. I just kept telling myself that every step was a run towards the light.
By the time it got light I had run 8 miles. The next four miles were lovely. Beautiful scenery, fresh breeze and not too hot. Then the sun did its thing! 35 degree heat and no shade. After 16 miles basically it was just horrible. My leg hurt, the sun was blazing. It was just a case of keep putting one foot in front of the other. I thought of Lisa my Sister in law who passed away in March, to keep me going. She hated running!!! She would have told me I was crazy😊 The support from Nigel Chambers was fantastic. Water, snacks, sunscreen and a hat soaked in ice cold water. The last five miles were horrible. Only the snail I met along the road was moving more slowly than I was. This was the worst most horrible run of my life!! But so worth it😊💜💙❤️💚

My run was to raise money for end of life care for cancer sufferers. So that they can have the same amazing care Lisa had. In her last few weeks If you would still like to donate I have almost raised enough to pay for a cancer care nurse for a week.

On Sunday I will be running the virtual London Marathon in memory of my beautiful sister-in-law Lisa who passed away in March from cancer.
I am raising money to help the hospice where she spent the last two weeks of her life. They provided amazing care that made a massive difference to both Lisa and her family.
I will be starting running at 3 pm on Sunday afternoon which will be 4 am my time as I will be on holiday. I’ll be running for two hours in the dark, which is quite scary. Luckily, Nigel has bought me a head torch. So at least I will be able to see where I am going.
Please help to support this amazing hospice by making a donation I am raising money to help cancer sufferers to enable them to go into specialist end of life care. Every step and every mile I run will be for Lisa McInerney. I have not trained to run 26.2 miles, so it will be hard. But nowhere near as hard as Lisa’s journey.

It is at this time of the year that the peahens start laying eggs. It is important as a responsible peacock owner to protect your peahens from predators, such as foxes. Last year I received over 60 phone calls from owners whose peahens had been taken by a fox while they were sitting on eggs.

As soon as they start laying, it is time to move the peahen into a pen or somewhere safe. Then they can sit safely and the chicks will be protected when they hatch. The bottom two pictured show the stance of the peahen when she is going to lay an egg. Which is very different from their usual stance shown in the top two photos.

This is Scurry, a beautiful Indian Blue Pied peacock I hatched from an egg three years ago. The great part of hatching eggs is the relationship you build with your peacocks. Scurry will follow me all day, just wanting to be with me as I potter around. We have Indian Blue Pied eggs available, plus other colours such as white eyed, purple, opal, cameo and Burford Bronze.
