Our Story
"Dogs have a way of finding the people who need them and filling an emptiness we didn’t even know we had" Thom Jones. Walk Like a Dog was founded by Jessica Stefanuk, a Certified Professional Dog Walker and graduate of the dog*tec Dog Walking Academy. Committed to keeping the dogs in her care safe and having a great time, Jessica is certified in Canine First Aid and avidly pursues ongoing continuing education and professional development by attending several seminars per year and keeping current on all industry literature regarding dog behavior and health. Jessica has cared for dogs most of her life and has always had a connection and love for every dog in her life. It was shortly after getting her Australian Shepherd Indie (whose face graces the Walk Like a Dog logo) that she realized she wanted to start a new career in the pet care industry. Indie eventually convinced her that spending all day with dogs is what made her happy and she left her 15 year career as an Insurance Broker to open Walk Like a Dog. Jessica understands the demands of busy professionals and families and knows that many dog owners feel guilty or worried about leaving their dog home all day while they are work or caring for their children. Walk Like a Dog can help get him or her the exercise they need which means a happy, tired, socialized and well behaved dog. Please contact Walk Like a Dog for complimentary 45 minute meet & greet in which we will review intake forms, gather information, go over policies and agreements and answer any questions that you may have. Meet & greets are expected to be in your home where your pet is most comfortable. Once it's been determined that Walk Like a Dog is a suitable match for you and your dog, and all intake forms are submitted, we can get your pooch started on their private or group walks. To schedule a meet & greet, please call or email us with some basic information about your dog and your needs and we will set up a day and time that is convenient for you. We look forward to hearing from you and meeting your best friend!
