Could a recently discovered "super-Earth" have the potential to sustain life?

Exoplanet 'TOI-715 b' is situated "fairly close to us" — just 137 light-years away — and orbits within a "habitable zone," according to NASA scientists.

Astronomers say the planet is about one and a half times the width of Earth and orbits a small, reddish star.

Due to the super-Earth's distance from its parent star, scientists say, it could be in a conservative "habitable zone" and harbor the right temperature for liquid water to form on its surface, which is essential to sustain life.

Itty Bitty was surrendered by her owner along with some others and has been at the shelter about 3 weeks and has been isolation with a "cold" so is rescue only. You left me in a carrier scared and in an unfamiliar place. I was outside and heard the cries of the night as I sit scared and alone. You where all I ever knew and now I sit scared in an unfamiliar place where I hear the cries of other scared animals. I just don’t understand.
This older cat was left outside of the shelter in her kennel. She is covered in mats and assume she’s not groomed herself or been brushed in a long time. She obviously was put in a predicament that wasn’t fair to her but hopefully we can find her help and to see that someone will care and help her.

**It’s a $50 hold fee for a direct adopter and that covers the fees to get the cat out and safe. The fee also includes some basic vetting for the kitty including neutered/spay, microchip, dewormer, basic immunizations, and flea/tick medicine.
Cats/Kittens must be OVER 2lbs and not carry any infections disease per the Kansas Board of Agriculture. (Cats younger then 6 months are subject to an additional $25 at pickup)
***these cats are not in our care and currently in the possession of the Wichita Animal Shelter. We are a group of rescue volunteers trying to network and expose these lives at risk to help get them to safety. We are not affiliated with the Wichita Animal Shelter and are allowed to evaluate these cats in need to help find them placement. We do this as a courtesy for the cats, the public and humanity.

Mista Scrooge received a dental this week. He has his 4 remaining canine teeth but all other teeth were either missing or extracted.

Since his procedure he has been reluctant to eat and is being monitored regularly. He has to remain in the e-collar so he has been moved to a room with lots of space and hiding places.

If you can help Mista Scrooge, please let us know ASAP!

URGENT RESCUE PLEA!!! These cats can be euthanized by vet services at any time without further warning, even before the rescue deadline! MUST have a commitment ASAP! If you can help, send an email immediately to [email protected].

Mista Scrooge arrived as a stray from a vet clinic earlier this week. He was a little hesitant with handling, but enjoys petting. He is about 8 years old, neutered, and FIV/FELV negative. It was noted that Mista Scrooge was only licking at his wet food and not really eating. So an in depth exam was done and he has severe dental disease and severe stomatitis. Bloodwork was done and is available upon request.

If you are interested in helping Mist Scrooge, please let us know ASAP!

***Mista Scrooge was rescued by the Jacksonville Humane Society!
