Spent part of this evening cutting up some liver and heart that I cooked to use as training treats for the fussy red boy! He prefers his toy but it's useful to use treats sometimes and stuff like this is all he will consider eating, works out quite cheap too, just takes a bit of time to prep. These tubs will now go in the freezer so I can take out what I need as and when I want to.

🐾 It's not all about collies or working cocker spaniels when it comes to agility and hoopers! 🐾

I thought it would be interesting to count up how many different breeds currently attend agility and/or hoopers training with me.
We do have 14 x collies/WSDs and 6 x Working Cockers but we also have:
2 x Collie x Poodles
2 x Rottweilers
1 x Mini American Shepherd
1 x Shih Tzu X
1 x Cockerpoo
1 x Jack Russell
1 x Papillon
1 x Miniature Poodle
1 x Large Munsterlander
1 x German Shorthaired Pointer
1 x English Springer Spaniel
1 x ESS x Labrador
1 x Mixed Breed
1 x Border Terrier
1 x Whippet
1 x Staffy x Husky
1 x Belgian Malinois X
2 x Labradors
1 x Sprocker
1 x Spitz X
3 x Collie X

Quite a range of different types of dog and even ones of the same breed can be very different so it's so important to adapt to the individual dog and handler that you are training to try and get the best out of each partnership.

So the next time you think that your dog may not be suitable for agility or hoopers because it isn't one of the most common breeds that you see doing those activities, think again and give it a try! Your dog just needs to be reasonably physically fit and ideally needs to have a good recall and be able to work off the lead around other dogs and people in a class environment. 121 sessions can be an alternative to group classes if your dog is particularly reactive or nervous around other dogs.

The younger member of the team got two clears at the UK Hoopers show today! His first place in Parcours qualifies him for the Novice Parcours final next year and we also got the bonus points for distance handling part of the hoopers course where he gained his second place.
UK Hoopers rosettes are always so pretty 😍
Congratulations to all the other club members who came home from the show with rosettes too!

It's not always all about the training, I think it's so important that dogs get plenty of time to just be dogs doing other fun stuff! 😁

Proud of these 2 at a UK Hoopers show today! Fae picked up 4 runs including gaining some bonus points for distance work and my baby dog had his first ever hoopers runs and got a lovely clear on his second Nursery class run! Also nice to see other club members doing well at the show too.

Congratulations to all club members on some brilliant achievements over the last week!

As well as getting places and rosettes and moving up grades, it's important to remember that success is not just measured with rosettes and trophies! Having a successful start line, completing their first set of weaves in competition, competing in their first ever Kennel Club competition, nailing those contacts in the ring can all be huge wins for us even if we don't end up with a clear round or even completing the whole course 🙂

🎉🎉 Huge congratulations to all the club members achieving amazing things recently at hoopers and agility competitions! From people competing at their very first show, people getting their very first clear round to all who have got placings including a win at a hoopers final and wins at The Kennel Club International Agility Festival show which qualified their young dog for a big semi final 🙂
Well done on all your achievements whether you went home with a rosette or not, you and your dogs all did brilliantly! 🎉🎉

Pleased to get a clear in the grade 6 agility class with a clear round at The Kennel Club International Agility Festival show, the biggest show of the year but very slightly disappointed we didn't get the win! Maybe next time 😁

My new flexible jump cups arrived today! They have much more give if a dog misjudges a jump and comes down on the pole.

21 obstacle course from Monday, some good work by everyone 👍
