Hey peeps. Sorry we have not posted in a while. We have been dealing with a few personal life issues including the passing of our beloved Aussie Shepherd Pepper ( pictured ), which hit the family quite hard as she was our daughters first ever dog. She was a wonderful companion and family member who was loved by everyone that met her... except our cats.

On to less sad news. We have begun our pairings this year and are hoping to have 3 clutches.

We are going to have a try at pairing our Platinum Macs again, we have paired them before and our girl gave us 8 eggs from memory. was not the best clutch as a few didn't make it, but there were several that went to loving homes.

We are also planning to pair our male Het for albino zebra jag with our (unrelated) female albino darwin. This pairing we have been working towards for a few years and while I know its been done before many times its a first for us. Hoping to get a nice albino zebra jag out of the clutch.

We are also planning to pair the caramel zebra and normal zebra jag we paired last time which gave us a nice solid clutch with all the different pairings (caramels and non caramel zebs, jags, zeb jags )including some supers.

This will be our largest efforts so far. Will try to post some more photos of the happy couples as time progresses. And after I tidy up the reptile room... there is stuff everywhere.

We saw these photos for sale and thought it definitely warranted a shout out. The young lady and her siblings who took these are quite skilled budding photographers, as you can see.

We encourage anyone and everyone to chuck them a follow on their instagram https://www.instagram.com/toms_wildlife?igsh=MThhaGc4aTZmOGJ2Yg==

Some photos from our trip to the Illawarra expo. We said g'eay to many of the people we know in the hobby including the Gale's from Topendpythons. Luke from Beaches Scaly Beasts. Brent from KHP Reptiles. And Daz from Morelia by Design .

There also another shout-out coming in a separate post to promote a young lady and her siblings photography. So stay tuned.

Borrowing this post from a couple of the discussion pages as it is quite a good read and has some very important information regarding heating and the need to shield our critters from the actual heating source.

Reptiles often require additional heat sources in their enclosures. Unfortunately, some of these heat sources can lead to burns.

As per my last post. Newest addition to our little zoo. Varanus Scalaris, Spotted Tree Monitor.
This little critter was entrusted to us by National Parks and Wildlife Service(or whatever they call themselves) after it and some of its siblings were confiscated from a keeper who was unlicensed. As well as a few other species.
This little one was being kept in an enclosure smaller than a 3x2x2 (they need a fair bit bigger than that). It is also quite underweight, and its claws.have never seen a tree by the look of it may require a trim to allow them to regrow properly. So its having a feed on some eggs before going into its new enclosure. With a bit of luck and some quality food and we will get some size on it.

A number of years ago I posted about the dangers of these adapter type fittings ... specifically the plastic ones. Obvious melting due to heat being the issue.
I have doubt an all ceramic and metal E27 to GU10 adapter. I am trialling it to are how it fares. But I could see no parts on this that were plastic and as you can see the fitting worked perfectly fine in a ceramic holder fitting meant for Edison style bulbs. Will post my findings in another post layering down the track in terms of durability and any potential failures (with photos) I have 6 so I may even disassemble one to see how it all goes together. They were not overly cheap so we will see.

Added is 2 photos of the cheap plastic one that failed ages ago in
