Phoebe’s first full Tetrathalon this weekend 💪
She’s been training since September and the hard work is definitely paying off 😅🤩
Lying in 5th after the shooting, swimming and running (with a PB for her swim 💪) she rode round a very technical 90cm XC course. As this was an Area qualifier it had some big questions at almost every fence.
They absolutely flew round, clear until 2 jumps from the end 🙈 A skinny boat with 1 stride on landing before going into water. Banksy didn’t much fancy it so they had a couple of refusals but they continued to finish the course and we will be working on this over the next few weeks.
4th place individually and Team 2nd 🥳💪🤩🦄
An amazing learning curve & she’s had such a fun weekend camping with friends.

Liv & Annie XC Schooling at MKEC yesterday 👌
Great confidence building session starting small and working up to 80cms in preparation for their ODE next weekend.
Gorgeous Annie can be cheeky and pop a spook or very quick refusal in just before jumps. Liv does well to sit these moments, so we worked on riding defensively whilst still riding positively to each fence. Great job Liv 💪🤩

Maisie 🩷🩷🩷
The dressage story so far….
Maisie showed a good aptitude for Dressage early on as she really enjoys her schooling sessions. We started with unaffiliated intro tests in the spring of 2021, gaining great marks 🤩 Although still very green and long in her outline she was rhythmical and obedient and the judges seemed to like her 🩷
With advice from a lovely friend, we got brave and joined British Dressage, which was my first time being an affiliated dressage rider. She did equally well in the BD preliminary tests even though she wasn’t working in an outline and threw her head up going into canter 🙈 The basics were good, so we continued to work on strengthening, suppleness and working into a consistent contact at prelim level.
She may not have the biggest flashy paces but she does as she’s asked without question, no matter the environment, so she is sensible, consistent and rhythmical in her work. For this I am very grateful as she always tries her best. As a coach this is what I look for in all equine & rider partnerships. A willing, obliging horse gets you half way there to start with!
In Spring 2022 we started training once a month with David Trott, his enthusiasm and way of teaching is wonderful and he really understands Maisie’s capabilities. He comes to the yard and teaches my liveries and gets great results from all of my ladies, no matter their level of riding.
Spring 2024 we moved up to Novice level which requires some lengthening in trot and canter - which is not easy for Maisie to achieve! Little by little we are getting an improvement in these lengthened strides so hopefully by the time Areas are here (end of August) this will be more established.
Maisie is enjoying a quiet few weeks whilst I’m having steroid injections in my wrists for carpal tunnel. 🤞 we’ll back up and running in good time for Areas at Bury Farm in August. We have qualified at Novice & Novice Freestyle to Music 🎶

Bury Farm Novice FSM with Maisie ❤️
This little mare has a heart of gold 💛 She always tries her absolute best and even though this test felt no where near as good as last time we rode it, we got an amazing score! It’s so interesting to see what judges are looking for 👀
I know that the first time we rode it a few weeks ago, she couldn’t have gone any better for where we are in her training (65%) and this time it felt like an ok test, but nothing special (68.9%) 🤷🏻♀️ I try and remember that the judges don’t know anything about our BD journey and I do know what constitutes a good test for us. Not always easy to believe this when the scores don’t go in our favour! But I try and focus on the comments rather than the scores, as these are more helpful to improve us for next time. Yesterday was so much fun, the scores and judges positive comments made the 4am start worthwhile! 😅🥳
We’ve qualified for Areas in music 🎶 so I’m absolutely thrilled and looking forward to a break from the early starts and huge amounts of shampoo & chalk that it takes to get her legs so clean 😂 June has been super busy trying to get our scores in before the end of the month! Usually I space out our competitions from Jan - June, but due to such wet weather, I couldn’t escape, whilst also looking after the liveries’ horses, until they were all living out.
And breathe… 😅🎶

Fantastic training show for Phoebe & Banksy today at Addington.
4 riders in the ring, each take turns to jump a round. £30 for 2 rounds, which can be at different heights! Full up course with flowers, ideal for competition practice at a new height or on a young horse.
Phoebe jumped two lovely clear rounds, one at 80cms & one at 90cms.
Banksy has taught Phoebe so much in the last year, I can believe he’s been with us for that long already! 🥰 In the last 2 weeks he has had a saddle fitting, new shoes and a physio session. Banksy was on fire today 🔥👌🦄 🩵

After a really rubbish week, I decided to do a last minute entry for our first Novice Dressage to music competition to cheer me up! 🎶

I’ve been planning our dressage to music debut since October 🙈 It’s been really tough as there is so much to learn 😬 I’ve found it particularly hard this spring as we don’t have the right size arena for BD competitions, so getting the timings to work with the music has been really tricky. Finally the weather behaved for long enough so that I could set out a 20 X 60 in the field to practise my timings on Friday evening. Rather more last minute than I’d hoped 😬🙈
I was really worried that the music wouldn’t fit the floor plan but by some miracle it all worked out 😅 🎶
Really pleased with the score, particularly as Maisie is only just learning to lengthen her strides.
Maisie was absolutely superb, I love this little mare so much, she always tries her best for me ❤️
Riding to music is SO much fun 🤩 🎶 We definitely plan to do it again soon🤞

Banksy & I travelled to Solihull Riding Club yesterday to ride his first ever Novice BD tests! We needed to get over 63% to gain a qualifying score for the BD Summer Area Championships.
He warmed up beautifully & coped admirably when we entered the vast indoor school with music playing at full volume. It was so loud I didn’t hear the bell! 😱🙉 Thankfully super groom Phoebe was calling the test and had heard it so we started on time. The music was so loud that even with her bellowing I could barely hear her 😂 We rode an accurate test for 64.17%, bearing in mind we’ve gone up a level I was chuffed with that.
In the second test, the music had been turned down, 😅 so I could hear Phoebe perfectly, we rode another accurate test. It was Novice 39 & a lot goes on in this one… The added difficulty reflected in the scores and we gained 63.07 % 🥳 just enough to be our 2nd of 3 required scores of 62% or above. Not bad for our first ever ride through this test in a competition.
Thrilled with the gorgeous Mr Banks 💙 He tried his best and he’s doing so well, especially considering how much he prefers his jumping to his dressage! 🦄

Well done to Holly & the very gorgeous Little Ted! They were giving a Mounted Games demo for the Whaddon Chase Pony Club at the North Bucks Country Show, which was organised by the Edgcott & Winslow Young Farmers 🤩
Great riding and horsemanship skills shown from Holly and her team mates.
Little Ted has EMS and lives on a very restricted diet of soaked hay and very little grass. EMS ponies are very prone to gaining weight and suffering with laminitis. Soaking his hay keeps him pain free and the correct weight. So it’s extra special to see him looking so well and both of them taking all that the show had to offer in their stride 💪 It’s not often that our ponies are expected to walk past bouncy castles, climbing walls or huge crowds!

Fantastic day volunteering at the Marsh Gibbon Pony Show organised by #bicesterandwardenhillpc
This is a lovely traditional pony show, with a huge range of classes for everyone. I remember competing at Marsh Gibbon pony show, it was my first EVER competition, back in the early 1990’s! I rode Boomerang and came 4th in the 2ft show jumping 🥰 @pebs1981 rode Philagree, happy days ❤️🦄
Phoebe & Will have also ridden here since they were tiny - there are lots of classes for the “not so horsey” children too! Phoebe chose to help today instead of competing, so she spent the day pole picking in the show jumping ring.
Albert and Oscar have regular lessons with me and they both had a fabulous day. They rode brilliantly and are increasing in confidence with every outing 💪🤩🥳

So much love for the gorgeous Piper, my constant companion. She is wonderful with all the liveries at the yard and knows everybody by their vehicle. She’s also very quick to alert me to any new or unapproved visitors!
She’s not been the easiest to train - compared to labradors (!) But Piper is nearly 3 years old, she has really matured over the last year and is now a wonderful, obedient girl ❤️ I often work alone and she gives me so much confidence to do so, especially in the dark winter nights.
Finally we’re enjoying some dry, sunny weather ☀️☺️

Stepping up to Novice level BD for Maisie & I today!
We went to see if we are ready to move up and maybe try to qualify for Areas at Novice level this summer. I’ve been playing the waiting game with the weather before heading out, as it’s just so wet & muddy everywhere 😫 which is not ideal with a cob with floofy white legs 😂but we need 3 scores of 63% or above before the end of June! 🙈 So with time running out, we took the plunge & tried our best.
Maisie is such an honest girl, attempting medium trot & canter is still very new to us but we showed enough of a difference in the tests to get great scores 😅
Novice 23 - 67.5% 1st place Bronze league & 2nd place overall in the class.
Novice 38 - 65% 3rd place Bronze league & 8th overall in the class.
Couldn’t be more proud of Maisie, she always tries her best & we even had a couple of 8’s for her canter 😱🥰
Huge thanks to the support team 💪 Mum for helping muck out, Phoebe for being super groom & calling the tests so expertly! I couldn’t do it without you.

Maisie and I escorted Pippa and Mac to @rycotecrosscountry yesterday. The weather was perfect, the bluebells were out and the horses were very well behaved 🤩 So lovely to watch Pippa grow in confidence as she learns how to contain Mac’s exuberance when jumping XC and cantering in open spaces 💪 Well done Pippa, great job!

I’ve been going round this course myself since I was 12 years old, so it’s very lovely that today was Phoebe’s first ever hunter trials here!! Banksy is such a legend, he took it all in his stride and looked after Phoebe perfectly 🩵🩵🩵 Fabulous clear round & fast gate time got them 3rd place 🥉 qualifying for the Eland Lodge Hunter Championship.
A long day but worth every minute to see Phoebe find the love for galloping across open fields jumping with her trusted stead 🦄 🥰

Often you only get one corner to cut in a show jumping course, but this fabulous course had 3 opportunities! Phoebe has worked so hard perfecting her jump off turns whilst not letting Banksy flatten in the jump off section. Great job! They’ve qualified for the Area 12 Championships 🥰🥳
