This puppy was almost killed yesterday. His family adopted him from DAR as a little baby, and because they fabricated their experience with this breed and had no intention on training, he became a big goofy puppy that was scared, lost , and insecure. DAR requires that adopted dogs are NEVER euthanized , or rehomed and that they come back to the rescue. His mom tried to quietly euthanize him at Penensula humane society stating that this 4 month old puppy was dangerous and agressive and she wanted him put down that second.
Thank GOD we microchip all animals and now make sure the rescue remains on the microchip for the entire dogs life, and that the amazing team at the shelter scanned him before euthanaizing . They immediately called us and the team sprang to action to rescue him before his family could kill him for no reason.
Guess what, he is the sweetestest gentle dog. They stated he was dangerous and agressive towards all people. The shelter staff love him and were so grateful they didn't have to take this puppies life because of an evil pet guardian that tried to toss him like trash.
If you can't make a lifelong comittment to a dog, and especially make the HUGE comittment to a puppy, don't adopt a living creature, adopt a cactus, that requires virtually no care.
Ice is now settled, went on a walk and was loved on by strangers this evening and playing with his foster families dog and adult cat. See below for his baby photos.

We cry tears of happiness, even years after the fur babies have been adopted. As a dedicated rescue with dedicated fosters, vets, and a full on rescue team, we pour our hearts and soul in to every animal. Over two years ago, we received an emergency call at night about two kittens , severely anemic, covered in parasites, severe eye infection that were about to be euthanized. Our team drove almost 2 hours out to rescue these two tiny kittens that were still bottle feeding. It was the most heartbreaking site, the eye infection was so bad, there were worms and maggots in the crusting, and they had long worms being passed in their feces, you could feel every bone on these babies. Fast forward to two years, Choco Bear, the kitten in worst shape, is the most dashing, charismatic cat we have ever met, and his adoptive mom loves and spoils that little ham.
It's stories like these that are the reason we fight to end backyard breeding and save animals, and advocate for spay and neuter clinics / provide assistance with TNR, and spay/neuter resources.
