Chester's Journey The fight against Megaesophagus Chester was diagnosed with Megaesophagus when he was 8 weeks old. He has to eat a special blend of food that I prepare for him.

The esophagus doesn't pull food to his belly, so gravity has to do the work for him. He can't tolerate water, so I make Pedialyte Jello for him to keep him hydrated. Whenever Chester eats, he has to eat in a chair called a Bailey Chair. It holds him upright so the food can reach his belly. He has to stay in the chair for an hour after each meal. Dogs with MegaE are prone to aspiration pneumonia be

cause they have bouts of regurge due to food that doesn't reach the belly and sits in their esophagus. Chester has battled aspiration pneumonia several times, but he's strong and he is fighting the fight against MegaE. Since he was born with this disease, this is normal to him. We love him so much and we're fighting the fight with him. Would you help us be a voice for Chester and join in the fight by spreading awareness about this disease? We have about 14 inches of snow. Kenny stayed home from work today, I work from home and Charlie just wants to play in the snow, but it's too deep. He keeps trying to jump into it and realizes it's not a great idea. He decided to stay on the back deck and eat snow. Kenny shoveled a nice big place for Charlie to potty. So all is good here. I let him stay outside about 5 minutes each time he goes out. He refuses to come back in until I bribe him with steak.

We're loving the snow! Even though the older I get, the more cold weather hurts my bones, Charlie is having a lot of fun. It's his first big snow! At about 10:30 am, we had next to nothing. I shared our ring pics with you. At 4:50, it's accumulating nicely. We're supposed to get a lot more snow and I'm good with it! 🥰 I keep thinking about the fun Buster and Chester had in the snow. I'm glad Charlie is following in their paw prints. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

We hope everyone is off to a great start this year. Charlie and Kenny are doing fine. I brought in the new year not feeling so good, but that's okay. It just means I'm getting it out of the way so the rest of the year can be good. 😊

Hi Friends,

I wanted to let you know I've been away from social media, but we plan to be back January 1st. There were so many memories popping up an Facebook... It was just really hard to accept that Buster and Chester weren't here to celebrate Christmas.

I have a goal beginning January 1st to move forward and honor my boys memories.

As for Charlie! Oh my goodness! He doubles all of Chester's shenanigans on a daily basis. I'm working on finding Charlie's "voice" so that we can make some Charlie videos.

It's been a week!!! I haven't posted in over a week! I've been under the weather and then there were issues with Facebook.

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know Charlie is doing fine since his oral surgery.

I'll be back a little later this evening to post the donation info for the UCB, Campbell County Animal Shelter and PAWS of Dearborn County. Take your pick if you're able to donate. I messaged them letting them know to watch for donations from our People's. 🥰

This stick was in the back of Charlie's throat, between his back teeth... Hanging there, hooked into his throat like an ornament. He's home and pretty groggy.... He also pooped in the backseat of Kenny's car on the way home. I cleaned it, but it's safe to say, I won't be riding in it anytime soon. Shew.

I had to leave Charlie at the vet. He has to have oral surgery to remove all the wood particles and splinters from his mouth. Our vet will call when I can pick him up.

Most of you voted for me to post all 3 links and addresses of where you can donate to the 2 shelters and the Upright Canine Brigade. I'll post everything this weekend. I want to reach out to the shelters to let them know what we're doing.

This is helping me so much to honor Buster and Chester's memory this Christmas season. It's been unbelievably hard, but thankfully I have Charlie to make me smile. I just miss them so much. I know helping other fur babies is exactly what my sweet angels want.

Hi Friends, I wanted to share this video of Chester being fed. I had to stop recording to slow him down! Chester was spoon fed, because eating out of a bowl was something he could never do since he wanted to gulp it all down as fast as possible. Since he couldn't drink water, I made him jello out of Pedialyte and it was his favorite part of his meals. He loved his jello! After he ate, it was upright time to help the food get to his tummy. Gravity had to do the work for this to happen. He liked to hold his ball during upright time. Sometimes we had conversations during upright time. I'll post a video of that today or tomorrow. I want to get caught up with messages and comments. I was caught up, but Thanksgiving was a busy day and I got behind again. I miss this time with Chester. It was our time. Feedings and upright time was something that was mainly just time for us. I really miss our time together... I miss it so much. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

I'm sharing a memory from 2017 today. Buster and Chester loved playing with each other. I have no doubt they were having so much fun when Buster got to Rainbow Bridge. Tomorrow is Chester's birthday. It's already hard, but tomorrow will be even harder. 😥💔 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Here's a video from Charlie, asking for the People's advice! Our sweet Buster has good days and bad days. I see a steady decline in him and he's definitely losing weight. I'm continuing the holistic route and I added Yunnan Baiyao Jiaonang capsules. His mornings are rough, but as the day goes on, he feels better. We will see how things go. I just need to make sure I don't put him through more than I should. I really want to get him through Christmas, because being without Chester is already extremely hard, but it's not about what's best for me. I have to do what's best for Buster. We will see how things go. As soon as the MegaE calendars go on sale, I'll post the link. I'll also post more info this week about the plans to donate needs for PAWS of Dearborn County, IN. Hi Friends! This is a video of Buster and Chester playing outside in August 2017. I'm going to have a rough draft of our book ready soon. I'll have some help from others to proofread and make suggestions on any changes. By Christmas, our book will be on the shelves, ready for sale.
