ADASHAD GERMAN SHEPHERDS
Welcome to Adashad German Shepherds
We would like to introduce ourselves, Margaret and Steve Adams, we live in Ferndale, a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Our motto is “Bred with Love, Raised with Love, For families to Love”
Although our relationship with German Shepherds begins some 40 odd years
ago, it was through our friendship with Margaret and Jim Ronald that our path to breeding began. That friendship remains as strong and as caring as it did way back then and to this day the two Margarets would love nothing more than taking off for a long walk with a batch of youngsters. As the ban on German Shepherds was lifted in W.A. Margaret and her husband, Jim, imported a beautiful pair of German Shepherd Dogs from the U.K. Forrestfarm Rodney (Jason), a stunning black and gold male and Kurtlee Rhapsody (Ilsa), a beautiful sable bitch whose progeny and grand progeny delighted all who owned them. As our two sons, Heath and Garth, spent a lot of time with the dogs and were indeed idolised by Jason & Ilsa, Auntie Margaret always promised them a puppy when they were ready for one. That day came in 1987 when she bestowed upon our household the most precious gift of all, Shadow – Iljaberg Beauty’s Honour – she really was an honour to own – always the loyal and protective servant – loving and possessive of all children in her care. Although she has passed from our lives and is waiting at “Rainbow Bridge” for us to join her, she left many, many satisfied puppy owners. Her most famous son is Sam, who was a member of the GSDA FLAGS team at the National Agility Finals and quite a showstopper in the Demonstration team. She also produced the GSDA of WA Baby Dog of 1989 Adashad James T Kirk. Her sister, Tammy, Iljaberg Beauty’s Harmony, came to join Shadow, actually followed us home and Heath became her co-owner, she produced beautiful babies under the Iljaberg prefix and they have in turn produced successful progeny. She produced a daughter Iljaberg Valhalla Flame (Sky) who was placed 7th Open Bitch at the National in 1998. One of Tammy’s sons, Iljaberg Quest for Truth is a top Obedience Dog and is often written about in the Canine & German Shepherd News. So beauty and brains were Tammy’s forte and in the year 2000 her great grandchildren made their debut in the show ring. In 1994 we purchased a precious little bundle of love, Tobarenny Vinka – she is the granddaughter of Australia’s Sieger Prima Zorba and Germany’s Reserve Sieger Atlas Vom Bad Boll. Some of the German lines she carries are Cello v d Romerau, Axel v d Hainsterbach, Arko v Huhnegrab, Pirol v Tronje, the famous “Q’ litter v Arminius and Fanto v Hirschel. Add to that the sensational sable Dunmonaidh Junker, Erntemond Gold Lancer, Prima Nymph and the immortal Prima Zorba and she had to produce something special. From two litters she has 5 “A” and “Z” stamps, four breed surveyed progeny. Her son, Adashad the Fugitive, (Fudge) was presented to Mr. Max Stokes (the President of the GSDCA 1998) for survey at the Main Breed Show in Victoria, attaining a Breed Survey Classification 1, within hours of getting off the plane. Three days later he was 10th Excellent Open Dog under Mr. Louis Donald (the Judges Committee Chairman GSDCA 1998) who commented he was the pick of the Zorba sons presented that weekend. Since then he has presented at the 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 Nationals and gained Excellents at each event. Fudge’s progeny are now entering the show arena with much praise and hope for the future. His sister, Adashad Pretty Woman, (Dana) who is owned by Eric Herson bettered her brother’s achievements by being presented at the survey, gaining 14th Excellent in the Open Bitch ring AND gained an excellent in the obedience section of the Main Breed Show. IT WAS A WONDERFUL VICTORY ALL ROUND and the champagne flowed for some considerable time. Dana went on to be an exceptional dog – she won the Triple Crown (Obedience, Conformation and Agility) at the West Coast Challenge in 1999, 2000 and 2001. She was the German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia’s winner in the National Competition for the Open Class in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. She ended 2001 on a top note as she gained the Top Show and Obedience award at the West Coast Challenge. At the 2002 National in Sydney Dana had the honour of being the highest graded dual performing exhibit – gaining Excellents in both the show and trial rings. Eric has been an exceptional owner of course, spending hours of patience, dedication and the wonderful “clicker” training. Under the heading of MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE 3 was the search for a suitable mate for her. She had her heart set on Jasso v d Bimsgrube (imp. Gmy) and she produced Adashad Secret Squirrel – Eric swears he’ll never have another male puppy – Dear SS was a joyful pain to live with – he loved everything and everyone. Fudge’s daughter Saarbachtal Red Renata (Red) has been a joy to our family, busy, cheeky and naughty - so much like her Dad. It is amazing that certain traits are inherited such as racing into the bathroom to pinch the face washer and handtowels – just like her Dad!!!! In 2004 Red gained her Breed Survey Class 1 A Z and later in the year her first Excellent medallion under Louis Donald. She was never destined to be an only child and she fell instantly in love with Quosh vom Drei Birkenzwinger on his arrival in Australia. He has imparted much of his good behaviour and after their puppies arrived on the scene she has turned into quite a relaxed and contented lady. Pictures of those little treasures are in the puppy buyers file. Quosh vom Drei Birkenzwinger came to live with us (courtesy of Eric Herson) and you could not wish for a better dog. Not only a stunning looking dog but his personality and character was faultless. He was the ultimate in “chick magnets” everyone loved him. At the Perth Royal show he distracted those children who were sad, helped those who were afraid and made many new friends. He is always called on for Public Relations work for the Association – a true ambassador of the breed. He gained his Companion Dog title, his Companion Dog Excellent title, his Agility Dog title and his Jumping Dog title. He gained his Excellent Merit award in the show-ring at the State Breed Exhibition. His progeny excelled in beauty and brains
Every puppy that leaves our home is special, long or short coat, black and gold or sable, whether they grace the show or obedience ring or just a fireside rug - each is loved and raised with the hope that their owners will appreciate and love them for what they are,
THEIR BEST FRIEND. You need only to look into the eyes of a German Shepherd Dog to KNOW this breed truly has a soul
Attending puppy classes is a MUST DO for our puppies. Attending classes at an early age and learning to be responsible members of the community is essential for our breed. We want them to be happy and live with their beloved families for the rest of their lives. Some enjoy the show ring, some the trials ring and others just love life. By protecting their family, guarding their homes, eating, sleeping, playing and giving immeasurable pleasure and love to the owners they live up to our motto.
“Bred with Love, Raised with Love, For families to Love”
