This is Willow🤩🐶. I was so thrilled to get an update from her pet parents today
I get a lot of updates daily from my clients, and I love the opportunity to see how the dogs I have trained have grown into a happier, more balanced relationship with their pet parents.
This video came at a very opportune time, as I had just received word that I lost another Darwin Dog today (the second one this week).
The first dog this week was very old, and her passingwas not unexpected. Although truly sad, she had been able to fulfill a wonderful life with her family, who are very empty without her, but knows she’s in a better place.
The second one that I just received was a lot more devastating. A freak accident occurred and a puppy I had trained is now gone. The beautiful little soul has been working towards becoming a therapy dog, and had visited a nursing home with me already.
You wonder why these things happen. It can be easy to dwell on the “why?”, especially when you are still in the process of grieving. But behind that “why”, and think about what has been lost. That’s a normal grieving process. But within that grieving process, it’s important to not just feel the loss, but remember everything that have been gained. How much love this puppy had shown others, as well as the joy he brought to his canine buddy.
so thank you, Willow, for cheering me up today and letting me see your beautiful face. I firmly believe that all dogs are therapy dogs, it’s just some freelancing.
