Dear Friends of Chow Chow Rescue,

As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect on the lives we’ve saved. Thanks to your generosity, this year we were able to rescue and care for dozens of Chows who needed a second chance.

But the truth is, our work is far from over. Every day, we receive pleas for help from shelters and individuals across the country.

The rising costs of medical care, food, and shelter are challenging us like never before. Your donation, big or small, is a lifeline for the Chows we rescue. Your year-end, tax-deductible gift will ensure we can continue saving lives in 2025 and beyond.

We love pupdates! We got this note from Jenny's (and Kovu's) adopter:

Her skittishness is melting away, but it's like peeling the layers of an onion. We're getting it. The residual "reaction" to stay away from us appears to just be a residual response at this point. When I call her name, she'll still slink away.
When I call for Kovu, she's "all in" on coming over, along with him, to see what we're gonna be doing.
When I've got something while I'm watching tv, she'll come over and patiently sit at my feet, occasionally hitting me with her paw to make sure I know she's there.
Jenny and Kovu always eat together. Jenny's really good with us holding her bowl.
Outside, she's another girl. She patiently waits at his side while I harness Kovu. She follows his lead, in that I hold up the harness and she pokes her head through to help put it on.
Out on the back lawn, either one is quick to prod the other one into playing "chase". They're a pretty even match. Jenny will run with me, but she's teetering on the idea of playing chase with me. She watches me and Kovu chase each other, and she watches Kovu try to tackle me, but hasn't joined in... yet.
We've got a set of cable leads by the porch door, where they can hang out on the front lawn and spend time under their shrubs. Jenny will lay slightly underneath and just watch the world go by. I find it endearing that she's getting into the habit of "asking" to be let out on the lead. If we've been out in the back yard, as we get to the porch steps, she'll take a few steps toward her shrub, stop, and then look back as though she's asking to be hooked up so they can hang out.
When we get back inside of the house, she'll sit down right in front of the fridge (as Kovu stands nearby), asking for a piece of cheese.
Jenny really is a great fit, especially with Kovu in her life. I'm glad that we're able to offer her what she needs to come out of her shell.
It's a dog's life!

A wonderful update on RC❤️❤️❤️

just giving you a little update on our favorite blind boy.

-he has become such a love bug, every morning he greets me with a big hello and he jumps up to get forehead kisses. he is a total velcro dog and follows me around everywhere.

-we are starting to work on his recall since i let him roam around in our fenced-in park and eventually i would like to let him explore the park without the leash still attached to him.

-he pulls on his leash occasionally but i pause and wait for him to settle down before we continue our walks. he seems to calm down almost immediately.

-he completely ignores my cat, edie which is a total dream. she is still getting used to him but i think they’ll be cuddle buds in no time at all.

-he has started to play with his toys!! he loves his lamb chop and this old tennis ball he found at the dog park.

-he is great with the neighborhood dogs and has made friends with mostly all of them is such a short time. his best buddy is a whippet/lab mix who runs circles around him but that doesn’t stop RC from trying his darndest to keep up with him.

-my boyfriend is jealous that he loves me and ignores him but i told him that it’s the chow chow way and that he’ll warm up… eventually. 😂

all and all he is perfect and is adjusting really well. i am so happy with him, i couldn’t have gotten a better pup ♥️

Very happy news for Butler: he has found his forever home! He hopped on the couch to cuddle with his new mom as soon as they met, so he must have known it was a perfect fit.

Butler's mom and dad say that he is settling in well, enjoying pets from both of them, and loving his big backyard. We wish Butler and his family a very bright and happy future!

From Butlers Foster Mom…

This guy is absolutely thriving after his dental surgery last week! He has a whole new pep in his step and I can tell he's feeling so much better. The surgery went perfectly and all of his other teeth are in great shape.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and shared his story so we could get him the vet care he needed. He's already SO much happier and I'm just glad he's feeling good ❤️

Casey, a charming 3-4 year-old neutered male, is looking for a patient adopter to help him shine. He weighs 52 lbs, loves walks, and enjoys hugs. Although timid at first, he warms up quickly and gets along swimmingly with most dogs, especially females. Once you've gained his trust, he'll cuddle and allow all handling. Florida friends, meet Mimosa!

Mimosa is a 3-year-old female who is available for adoption in Spring City, FL! She weighs 55lbs and loves going for car rides, camping, and walks. Mimosa's foster mom reports that she is okay walking on a leash, but does have a strong prey reaction to squirrels, birds, and cats (she barks at them and will chase if they run, but a stern NO will get her to stop).
