Operation Pets Alive is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit striving for a No-Kill Montgomery County. Our Trap, Neuter and Returned (TNR) program.

Since our formation 10 years ago we have focused on four life-saving programs. We alter and vaccinate cats now living in managed colonies. This limits breeding and reduces intake of cats and kittens at our local shelter. Our Targeted Spay and Neuter program is currently working on an “In- clinic Clinic” concept which will bring low cost spay and neuter services to those areas in Montgomery County

that turn the most animals into local shelters. We have also partnered with another non-profit, K-9 Corral, to alter 1465 dogs in New Caney, Splendora, Porter & other areas of east Montgomery County where resources for having pets altered are limited. We have adopted over 1050 dogs and cats to our local community through our Foster/Adoption program. All are up-to-date on vaccinations, spay and neutered and are placed in suitable homes. Finally, our transport programs, Pups on Trucks, Flight for Life, & Puppies and Kittens with Wings, supplement local rescue efforts by sending “at risk” dogs, puppies or kittens to partnering shelters and rescues in the Northeast, and other areas of the country where these transport candidates realize a 99.9% save rate. The average live-release rate for our area shelters is currently 50-60%. As of January 2016, OPA has transported over 3,000 local dogs and kittens to families in Northeast, and other areas of the country where there is a greater demand for adoptable pets. 🎉 **Happy Tails Alert!** 🐾

We have some PAW-some news to share! 🐶✨

Once upon a time in New Waverly, Texas, there was a brave dog named Atka. Atka had faced his fair share of challenges. He endured a terrible injury when he was shot, leaving him with not just physical scars but emotional ones as well. But this resilient pup refused to let his past define him. After months of rehabilitation, he emerged from his journey stronger, braver, and more determined than ever to find his forever home.

Atka was taken under the care of a loving foster family who helped him navigate the complexities of his newfound life. They worked tirelessly with him, addressing his behavioral hurdles with patience and understanding. Atka began to shine like the brightest star in the sky, showcasing his playful spirit and loving nature. Day by day, he learned to trust again, proving that with love and support, healing is indeed possible.

Just when it seemed like a fairy tale ending was within reach, Atka's story took another turn. Two days before his departure to his forever home in the enchanting North Pole, Alaska, the unthinkable happened: Atka tested positive for heartworms. The news initially felt like a dark cloud hovering over the joy that was building for his new beginning. However, his potential adopters were nothing short of extraordinary.

Determined and unwavering, they agreed to get Atka the treatment he needed. Their commitment to him illuminated a path forward and, fueled by hope, they welcomed him into their hearts and home. With every snowflake that fell in the North Pole, Atka began to embody the spirit of adventure he had always longed for.

Now, each day is a new discovery for Atka. He races through the picturesque snowy landscape, tumbling and frolicking with the innocent joy of a dog who has finally found his place in the world. He loves to chase after falling snowflakes and roll around in the soft white blanket that surrounds him. His new family revels in his antics, creating memories filled with laughter and love.

Atka’s journey from trauma to triumph is a testament to the power of love and resilience. In the magical land of Alaska, he finally lives the life that was always intended for him—a life filled with warmth, play, and a family who believes in second chances. His fairy tale is not merely the end of a story but the beginning of an adventure that will last a lifetime. Every moment is a celebration of love, healing, and the sheer joy of being home.

We are so thrilled to share that Bruno has officially found his furever family! Last weekend, he moved into his new home where he has 4 human brothers, 1 fur brother, and 2 fur sisters (including a great dane sister who’s already sharing her ###L bed with him 😄)!

Bruno is already settling in wonderfully and living the good life—he’s loving all his new toys and snuggles in that giant bed. 😍🐾 We know he’s going to have a spoiled life full of love, play, and adventures with his amazing family!

🎉🐾 Tiara Found Her Forever Home! 🏡❤️

We are so excited to share that Tiara found her forever home just in time for the new year! 🎊 She went HOME last weekend and will be living her best life with her new fur sister. Once she’s spayed and fully vaccinated, she’ll be off to day camp to make even more furry friends! 🐶✨

A huge shout-out to Tiara’s amazing mom, who is absolutely head over heels in love with her. 💖 And a special thank you to dad, who gave his stamp of approval over FaceTime while serving our country overseas. 🇺🇸 Your family is so lucky to have you, Tiara!

On October 28th, Bonesy was found emaciated, abandoned off of I-45. But thanks to the incredible kindness of our fosters, he found a temporary home where he was given love, care, and all the attention he needed. 💕 And now, the best part—Bonesy is HOME! 🏡✨

We're thrilled to announce that he has officially celebrated his foster fail Gotcha Day with his forever family—the absolute BEST people who will love him unconditionally for the rest of his days. 💖

Rachael, Days Homeless: 491
Rachael was featured in our EOY fundraiser last year. She is 4-year-old husky/shepherd mix. Rachael is crate trained, potty trained, and 60 pounds. Her previous foster said she does well with kids, other dogs and is a loving, quiet dog herself!

Temple, Days Homeless: 510
Temple is the cat that has spent the most time in our program, with an original intake date of 500 days ago! She a lovable, sassy lady of 2 years, and would love to be the only pet in your home.

Mama, Days Homeless: 1,070
Mama has spent the longest uninterrupted days in our program at 1,060. She’s been a sweet foster, but we’d really love to find her the family she deserves.

Sugar Bear, Days Homeless: 558
This girl lives up to her name! Sugar Bear is a sweetheart that loves getting groomed, giving kisses and laying in your lap. She is dog-friendly, crate and house trained. She is currently in boarding working on social skills but would love to be in a foster home!

Helping People Save Pets

Since our formation ten years ago we have focused on four life-saving programs: Community Cats, Spay/Neuter, Local Adoption and Transport.

Through our Community Cat Program we trap, alter and vaccinate free-roaming cats in Montgomery County. This limits breeding and reduces intake of cats and kittens at our local shelters. We also assist local shelters that do not yet have a Trap, Neuter, Return ordinance to save the life of feral cats turned into the shelter.

Our Spay and Neuter Program provides low-cost services to all citizens of Montgomery County with unaltered pets.

We have adopted over 6,000 dogs and cats to our local community through our Foster/Adoption Program. Our pets are showcased at locations throughout Montgomery County including at our cat café, The Great Catsby. All adoptable pets are up-to-date on vaccinations, spay and neutered, and are placed in suitable homes.
