Operation Pets Alive is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit striving for a No-Kill Montgomery County in Houston, TX.

Since our formation 10 years ago we have focused on four life-saving programs. Our Trap, Neuter and Returned (TNR) program. We alter and vaccinate cats now living in managed colonies. This limits breeding and reduces intake of cats and kittens at our local shelter. Our Targeted Spay and Neuter program is currently working on an “In- clinic Clinic” concept which will bring low cost spay and neuter
services to those areas in Montgomery County that turn the most animals into local shelters. We have also partnered with another non-profit, K-9 Corral, to alter 1465 dogs in New Caney, Splendora, Porter & other areas of east Montgomery County where resources for having pets altered are limited. We have adopted over 1050 dogs and cats to our local community through our Foster/Adoption program. All are up-to-date on vaccinations, spay and neutered and are placed in suitable homes. Finally, our transport programs, Pups on Trucks, Flight for Life, & Puppies and Kittens with Wings, supplement local rescue efforts by sending “at risk” dogs, puppies or kittens to partnering shelters and rescues in the Northeast, and other areas of the country where these transport candidates realize a 99.9% save rate. The average live-release rate for our area shelters is currently 50-60%. As of January 2016, OPA has transported over 3,000 local dogs and kittens to families in Northeast, and other areas of the country where there is a greater demand for adoptable pets. What an incredible day at our PetSmart Grand Parkway Adoption Event! 🎉

What an amazing day at our Paws & Ice Cream Adoption Extravaganza! 🐾🎉
Yesterday’s event at Playful Pack Dog Daycare & Boarding was a huge success! We had a fantastic turnout, with so many people coming out to meet some of our amazing adult dogs looking for their forever homes.
A big thank you to Bruster's Real Ice Cream for the sweet treats — the pup cups were a hit with our furry friends! 🍦
We’re incredibly grateful to all of our wonderful volunteers who made the day run smoothly, and to our supportive community for showing up, spreading the word, and helping us give these deserving dogs a second chance.

Sweet Nina needs a Foster or Adopter! Please SHARE — help us write Nina’s next chapter! 💗
Nina is a 5-year-old survivor with a heartbreaking past. She was found pregnant, alone, and struggling to survive on the streets. After giving birth on a stranger’s porch — Nina and her puppies were in real danger. Thankfully, we were able to give her safe haven and a quiet place to raise her babies. Now that they’re weaned, it’s Nina’s turn to find safety, love, and a true forever home.
Despite all she’s endured, Nina still seeks human affection. She’s calm, gentle, and observant — often standing quietly just waiting for a kind scratch behind the ears. She’s not high-energy, but she lights up in her own quiet way when someone shows her love.
Nina is:

✔ Good on walks
✔ Gentle with kids
✔ Calm, quiet, and low-maintenance
Currently living in a boarding facility, Nina would be so grateful for a foster home — and even more for an adopter ready to give her the life she’s always deserved.

Helping People Save Pets
Since our formation ten years ago we have focused on four life-saving programs: Community Cats, Spay/Neuter, Local Adoption and Transport.
Through our Community Cat Program we trap, alter and vaccinate free-roaming cats in Montgomery County. This limits breeding and reduces intake of cats and kittens at our local shelters. We also assist local shelters that do not yet have a Trap, Neuter, Return ordinance to save the life of feral cats turned into the shelter.
Our Spay and Neuter Program provides low-cost services to all citizens of Montgomery County with unaltered pets.
We have adopted over 6,000 dogs and cats to our local community through our Foster/Adoption Program. Our pets are showcased at locations throughout Montgomery County including at our cat café, The Great Catsby. All adoptable pets are up-to-date on vaccinations, spay and neutered, and are placed in suitable homes.
Finally, our Transport Programs, Pups on Trucks, Flight for Life, Cats in Cars and more, supplement local rescue efforts by sending dogs, puppies, cats and kittens to partnering shelters and rescues in the Northeast, and other areas of the country where these transport candidates realize a 99.9% save rate.
