Operation Pets Alive is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit striving for a No-Kill Montgomery County. Our Trap, Neuter and Returned (TNR) program.
(195)
Since our formation 10 years ago we have focused on four life-saving programs. We alter and vaccinate cats now living in managed colonies. This limits breeding and reduces intake of cats and kittens at our local shelter. Our Targeted Spay and Neuter program is currently working on an “In- clinic Clinic” concept which will bring low cost spay and neuter services to those areas in Montgomery County
that turn the most animals into local shelters. We have also partnered with another non-profit, K-9 Corral, to alter 1465 dogs in New Caney, Splendora, Porter & other areas of east Montgomery County where resources for having pets altered are limited. We have adopted over 1050 dogs and cats to our local community through our Foster/Adoption program. All are up-to-date on vaccinations, spay and neutered and are placed in suitable homes. Finally, our transport programs, Pups on Trucks, Flight for Life, & Puppies and Kittens with Wings, supplement local rescue efforts by sending “at risk” dogs, puppies or kittens to partnering shelters and rescues in the Northeast, and other areas of the country where these transport candidates realize a 99.9% save rate. The average live-release rate for our area shelters is currently 50-60%. As of January 2016, OPA has transported over 3,000 local dogs and kittens to families in Northeast, and other areas of the country where there is a greater demand for adoptable pets. Apply to adopt LEO at: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/38069159-spring-texas-german-shepherd-dog-mix
Leo (D230369) is a large/xlarge (90+ lbs) German shepherd mix. This big guy is sweet and affectionate once he gets to know you and would do great in a home with structure, consistency and room to run and play! He’s very smart, curious and observant. He needs a job and would probably do well with someone that has space for him to run and explore like a farm or ranch, or at least someone that is physically active and willing to include him often. He loves to play fetch and tug games and has gotten along well with all other dogs so far. Cats, not so much! He knows how to make himself “small” when he plays with puppies and does very well with them as they seem to match his energy level.
Apply to adopt JOY at: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/37131736-spring-texas-labrador-retriever-mix
If you’re looking for a sweet, calm, and quiet little lady to keep you company, Joy is your girl! She is house trained and completely trustworthy left roaming, she’s great on leash walks, uses a dog door with no problem, loves toys, and does very well with other dogs of all ages and sizes. Joy was rescued from a shelter and came to us completely terrified of human contact. It wasn’t long before she learned to co-exist happily and has now grown to truly enjoy human affection! She is still a little timid but will continue to flourish as a member of a calm and loving family. Joy will do best in a quieter home, and preferably with another dog.

The highly anticipated update on VENUS is here! Her surgery went fantastic, thanks to Dr. Pettyjohn and the whole crew at Stone Ridge Veterinary Medical Center of Willis! Her surgery team was able to successfully connect both broken sides of her lower jaw, maneuver and fasten the front part of her jaw (that was previously just flapping in the wind) into proper placement AND reconnect gum tissue back onto the bones! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far - you helped make this surgery possible! But that’s the easy part… The REAL challenge will be keeping her from completely destroying all of that incredibly delicate work. Which is where her amazing foster, Destiny B. comes in! She’s not only stepped up to foster Venus, but also tackle the enormous job that will be her post-operative care. This is a huge undertaking. MOST of time with orthopedic surgeries, the post-operative care is even more important than the surgery itself, because a skilled surgeon can do everything exactly right when the patient is anesthetized, but it’s what that patient does when she’s awake and going on about normal life, that could make or break the outcome. Another special tidbit, Venus’s surgeons created hand-made muzzles specially for her, that she has to wear ALL the time. The muzzle is just big enough for her to gently lap up her puppy smoothies, but restrictive enough to keep her healing bones from too much movement. Destiny says she is doing REALLY well and is eating even better than before! She will be evaluated this upcoming Thursday to make sure all is healing as expected! So far, so unbelievably good! Please keep her in your thoughts and please share her story so we can continue working towards getting her medical bills covered.
WARNING: Graphic content - broken bone This poor girl was urgently transported out of the shelter, while not currently life threatening, her broken jaw is surely painful and causing her issues when trying to eat. Venus has surgery schedule for Monday, please consider donating to help us cover the cost!
You can find us at 4 different events today (and 1 tomorrow)! Now is the perfect time to adopt so you can spend all the fun upcoming holidays together!! See more details for todays events: https://operationpetsalive.org/events/
Some of our fosters are getting in the HOWL-O-WEEN mood early! Let us know in the comments who’s wearing your favorite costume! And if you think these pups are cute, you’re not going to want to miss the Pet Costume Contest & Parade at The 2023 Howl-O-Ween Festival!
Val is looking for a foster or adopter! She is approximately 35 pounds, 10 months old, spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped! She’s recently had some professional training with Koba's Four Paws Institute, LLC - special shout out to Dalton for all he’s done with her and for us! She’s got a long of energy and would do best with an experienced dog owner. She also has a high prey drive (we think she’d be a great bird dog), so she shouldn’t be in a home with small animals or small livestock. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting, please apply on our website! Foster info: https://operationpetsalive.org/programs/foster/ Adoption info: https://operationpetsalive.org/programs/adopt/

Limited addition! My name is Señor Charlie. What does senior stand for? I have no idea. Some people say I’m a senior citizen but that doesn’t sound like me at all. I am more like a macho chick magnet! I am full blooded minpin with swagger! I don’t like to brag but I have game. I’m handsome, fit and charismatic. I love kids, people, car rides, long walks, tailored suits, chew toys and caviar. Just kidding about the chew toys! I’m pretty easy-going and not above dancing for pup cups. If you meet me you will see why I made the ladies swoon I am all muscles baby! My agenda is simple. I am healthy, happy and a great companion. I am looking for a family that can look past a few of my gray hairs and understand that I am VERY young at heart. You can apply for me through Operation Pets Alive's website. I will warn you though. After I release this video of my handsome good looks… There’s only one of me to go around! If you are interested in meeting or adopting Charlie, submit an application on our website (no obligation to adopt) with his name and ID D220263: https://operationpetsalive.org/programs/adopt/
This spunky little piggie family is looking for their #fureverhome! Mya and her daughters, Stormi and Alani, are little squealing cuties. They just LOVE their cucumbers. They eat fresh veggies daily in addition to occasional fruit. They are so fun to watch, and get excited at just the smell of cucumbers being cut! This absolutely adorable trio loves their hammocks and being pet and held. They need to be adopted into their furever home together, so if you are interested in meeting or adopting them, fill out an application on our webiste (no obligation to adopt) with their names: https://operationpetsalive.org/programs/adopt/adoption-application/
June started with a very special OPA adoption - our first ferret adoption! Jerri, an 8-month-old got adopted June 1, and went to a home with 2 new brothers! Her new mom has already sent her foster mom a video of her playing with her brothers and we are so happy to see she's enjoying her new life! Thanks to Cheryl C. for fostering Jeri and our two other ferrets (that are available for adoption)! Cheryl is a special kind of foster - if it has fur, she's willing to give it a go! Cats, dogs, guinea pigs and now ferrets have all passed through her home on the way to their #furever! If you're interested in adopting one of Jerri’s, submit an application on our website (no obligation to adopt) with their name and ID. See pictures of them on our website! Their sister Jeri (white ferret) was recently adopted and they would love to become OPA Alumni just like her! They are about 8 months old and weigh about 2 pounds. If you're interested in adopting one of these playful cuties, submit an application on our website (no obligation to adopt) with their name and ID. Your application will be forwarded to their foster and she'll be in touch! Lacy M220015 Roger M220014 Application: https://operationpetsalive.org/programs/adopt/adoption-application/
Here's a little video from one of our puppy fosters to start your weekend off right! Does the music give the ending away? 😂 These cuties will be available soon, so keep an eye out on our website: https://operationpetsalive.org/programs/adopt/available-pets/
Ever wonder what our TNR (trap, neuter, return) team does when they are able to trap a momma and babies? Most of the time, mom is too feral and will have a comfy place to stay until her babies are weened and she is then able to get spayed and returned to her home. Sometimes, she is just social enough to be considered for our barn cat program, and on very rare occasions, mom is evaluated to be good a good fit for a home and becomes a foster. A good portion of the time, the babies are young enough to be properly socialized and considered for our foster program. These little ones are very playful, but need more space and more human interaction than our current TNR volunteer can give them. They only need 1 more set of shots, combo testing and to be microchipped before they are officially ready to be adopted. Can anyone help foster them? There are 6 kittens (5 original, plus 1 surrogate), who would love to stay together, but we are open to splitting into smaller groups if necessary. TEXT Carolyn at 281-413-2920 if you can help these babies! All supplies and vetting will be provided!
If you've ever thougth about fostering, we could really use some help! 🥺 Here are just some of the dogs that have been assessed and either pulled from the shelter or taken in from the community. We've had to close our adult dog intake due to too many dogs needing to be moved or without foster backing. Can you help by fostering a deserving pup for just a few weeks or until adoption, to give them their chance at a happy forever? Please TEXT Amy with the name of the dog you would like to help at: 281-687-0998. Please SHARE to help us find fosters for these needy pups! Taking one of these needy pups into your home short-term is both fun and rewarding! You can read more about fostering for Operation Pets Alive here: https://operationpetsalive.org/programs/foster/
Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
Since our formation ten years ago we have focused on four life-saving programs: Community Cats, Spay/Neuter, Local Adoption and Transport.
Through our Community Cat Program we trap, alter and vaccinate free-roaming cats in Montgomery County. This limits breeding and reduces intake of cats and kittens at our local shelters. We also assist local shelters that do not yet have a Trap, Neuter, Return ordinance to save the life of feral cats turned into the shelter.
Our Spay and Neuter Program provides low-cost services to all citizens of Montgomery County with unaltered pets.
We have adopted over 6,000 dogs and cats to our local community through our Foster/Adoption Program. Our pets are showcased at locations throughout Montgomery County including at our cat café, The Great Catsby. All adoptable pets are up-to-date on vaccinations, spay and neutered, and are placed in suitable homes.
