This Sunday August 25th we will be holding an adoption event at our shelter. This is by INVITE only!
11a.m. to 3 pm.
Our beautiful adult cats will be 25 and our kittens 6 months to a year will be 50, kittens under 6 months will be $75 & Kittens under 12 weeks of age MUST be adopted in pairs.
To get your invite please fill out our pre approval application and once approved we will set you up to come check out our gorgeous, sweet & lovable felines.

Transport was found.
Looking for transport back to Dubuque from Dyersville for a couple of our kitties that got spayed and some meds.

UPDATE: It is with a shattered heart we post this.
We got a message that one of these puppies got out of a kennel they were being kept in and some P.O.S. shot and killed it. 😭 we do not know which pup. Heartless!

PLEASE SHARE/FOSTER We NEED to get these pups out of Oklahoma and we can only do it with your help.

We have stepped up to take these pups!
They absolutely had no where to go and their lives were on the line due to where they live near coyotes and other wild animals that would have harmed or killed them in Oklahoma.
Since we have agreed to take them, they have found places to hold them short term until they can get to us. They will come up neutered and vaccinated, they will get the females spayed if they have time to get them in.
Mama is only 25 lbs. and has been rescued by another shelter. We need FIRM fosters or fosters to adopt when they arrive on September 7th. Please open your home to fostering or fostering to adopt one. Foster to adopt will have first choice of a pup.

😭 Extremely sad situation, mom had an accident litter and the family threw her and her babies out.

Bunny passed 😭

My Granddaughter found a baby bunny in their downstairs in a corner and no idea how it got in there. He seems hurt and can't stand well. We need to get this baby help. If you are able to transport him to a rehabber out of town today please pm the page.

This little 15 lb. girl is looking for that perfect someone to bring her out of her shell, she can't live life in a kennel. Rosa needs someone with time and patience and someone who knows how to train a pup. We don't know Rosas age but we do know she is young and maybe under a year old. Absolutely no aggression just unsure if she can trust yet.

Our last rescue, Miss Rosa.
We did a DNA on her due to comments about her being a black Coyote. We have not been able to touch her yet as she always moves back and shies away, she does not seem to have much in the way of social skills and this could be due to just being nervous, but she is starting to act as though she wants to be playful as she now jumps around when I talk playful to her (I can see her changing quickly with the right person) We are looking for that person who would love the challenge of getting her where she needs to be for adoption, this can be a foster to adopt also. Her foster must be someone skilled in socializing and training dogs, train her on a collar and a leash, have a tall fenced in yard and be close to Dubuque and in Iowa. Rosa is just a little thing and weighing in at 15 lbs. Fostering this girl could bring big rewards to your heart when bringing her out of her shell. She does not and has never shown any aggression what so ever. She is a curious little thing and so wants to be able to run and play. If you have time, space and a big heart please apply to foster Rosa, no animal should be kenneled away. We did need to wait for her DNA in order to post her for foster.

We are at a stand still for taking in anymore felines.🥲Our vet bills are soaring, our kennels and fosters are full, our pockets are empty as is our litter, food and supplies. The vetting of so many sick and critical animals have put our vet bill beyond our means.
We have a line up of spay and neuters and have already done many leaving the vet bill waiting.

However our volunteers are Wonderful and the cats and kittens are well cared for and happy.
If you can donate even a dollar, a tub of litter, a bag of food, paper towels, cleaning sprays etc. it would all be a blessing.
Thank you to a community that has never let the lost, abandoned and suffering animals down. We could also still use more foster homes. Below is a list of items needed.

Short term Kitten Fosters Needed ASAP. We can move them this evening if anyone has room in their home and hearts.
Kittens do not do well in kennels in shelters, they need room to run and play in a care free environment,
TEXT 563-258-1990 if you can foster 2 to 3 kittens. We do not send kittens single as they NEED companionship. (not even if you have a cat in your home as they need to be seperated from you house animals for up to two weeks.

FORGIVE ME, MOMMY 😢🐾…
I was there where you left me for two whole days. Sleeping right on the side of the road. I was terrified of the noise from the cars but I did not move.
Last night one of those cars stopped and she got out. She invited me to lunch but I said no. She invited me to come sleep at her house and I also said no. I tried to explain to her that I was waitng for you but she wouldn’t listen. She pulled out a leash and said I couldn’t stay there any longer. I bit her several times and ended up peeing on myself as I growled and cried! She didn’t understand that she was separating me from you! She took me against my will and we drove off! I was so sad because I knew you were going to be worried. We ended up at her house.
I kept screaming hoping you would hear me but you never came. I vomited because of my nerves, feeling so sick. I kept telling her I had to go back because you were going to think I abandoned you when you saw I wasn’t there! I, who love you with all my heart and soul have not stopped crying since we separatd a few days ago. I want you to know, I would never do that to you.
I don’t know where you are now or why you stopped the car and left me there. Surely you had something very important to do. Can you come find me now, mommy?
Today I ate because my tumy was hurting. I also slept on a very soft bed. And by accident I also wiggled my tail a bit. I’m so sorry, please forgive me. She’s just being really nice to me. She said I could stay forever. She’s calling me Savannah, but I already have a name. When you pick me up you can tell it to her. You’ll see how surprised she’ll be when you explain to her that this was a big mistake.
Because mommy, you’re coming back for me, right?

UPDATE: Transport found, little one is on his way to Wildthunder Wildlife & Animal Rehabilitation & Sanctuary

Transport needed ASAP to Independence or Iowa City. Picked this little one up off the road near eagle point part, looks as though something may have hurt him. He needs a rehabber and antibiotics asap, so emergency transport needed.

UPDATE: foster to hopefully adopted found.

We will be placing these pups in foster together by tomorrow morning. If you are still interested in fostering or fostering to adopt text 563-258-1990, if you feel you can keep them safe without a fenced yard (depending on the area) we will consider it.

We have been getting messages from many supporters and from facebook letting us know someone has been reporting our posts! So I would say it is safe to say it is someone disgruntled with WHR. If this is true, it is very sad and the only ones it hurts are the animals needing help.

The State inspector was just here and updated our yearly license for being in full compliance as a shelter and foster program. Anyone having issues with us, please take it up with them.

Life is Golden with a Golden

These two beautiful girls were found running around near Dayton Road in Dubuque County. No collars, no microchip. One of the pups have a very bad scar all the way down her back (I wish they could tell us what happened) for now we will suspect the worst and pray no one comes forward to claim them so they may have a happy ever after.
They are approximately 5/6 months old. A little shy but coming out of their shell and VERY friendly and playful. No one has come forward for them, if someone should they would need to show proof of ownership and vaccination records. These girls will be heading to our vet for a check up and appropriate vaccines and microchip. We will be taking foster or foster to adopt for them now. You MUST have a fenced yard to foster or adopt these little ladies and we are considering keeping them together.

We have a HUGE vet bill that needs to be paid down.
Every day animals arrive at our vet for emergencies, spay, neuters, vaccinations, hospitalization etc. etc. etc. And we just can not catch up. We now have many, many cats scheduled for spay and neuters along with our kittens and puppies in foster homes that continue their vetting until they are spay/neutered. Every dollar that is donated gets sent to our vet and we depend on donations of food and litter for our housed cats and kittens. We also have building rent and all utilities including air conditioning. These will continue to rise. At this time we need to put a hold on feline in-takes as we are out of room and funds are low.
We have not been posting our criticals or intakes as we have been over whelmed and some in the public and social media have deeply criticized us for always asking for donations? these are not our animals, they are the communities animals, we take them in to get them the immediate critical care they need, vetting, this includes flea and tick and worming (which kills a lot of animals} we give them shelter, food and also socialization to prepare them for their forever homes.
