PUMPKIN JOINS PACK WALKS 🐶 - We recently met this gorgeous French Bulldog Terrier for a behaviour assessment when we were called for help with Pumpkin bullying her older fur sibling. During the behaviour assessment it was clear that Pumpkin was probably not getting all the exercise she needs so pack walks will be a great way of draining some of her excess energy… which will lead to less boredom and bullying of her sister! It’s a win win! 😂 Pumpkin is only young and the increased socialisation will be great for her too. Welcome aboard Pumpkin 🐾 🎃 🐾

INTRODUCING STELLA - It was great to meet Stella at the weekend. Stella is a one and a half old rescue dog who has been with her owners for the last few months. Stella is a Staffy x Kelpie. Stella has some very basic obedience skills and her owners are hoping to polish these and to continue with her training. We will be working on leash walking, recall training and helping Stella in a couple of sessions time with some social training. Her new owners feel she is very dominant when she plays with other dogs and gets super excited which could easily lead to an accident. Great to be working with a rescue dog! MILLI STARTS PUPPY TRAINING 🐶 - It was great to meet Milli and her owner recently for their first of four private puppy training classes. Milli is a young female Mastiff-X breed. When we met up for this session it was clear that Milli’s owners have already started some training with her, she knows some basic commands and seems to really enjoy learning. Very much looking forward to doing a bit more training with this lovely girl and her family. 🐾 🐶 🐾

PUMPKIN’S 🎃 BEHAVIOUR ASSESSMENT 🐶 - We got into the spirit of Halloween earlier this week when we met Pumpkin for her behaviour assessment. Pumpkin is a one year old French Bulldog Terrier. We were called to assess Pumpkin as she is becoming very boisterous with the older family dog, and has been aggressive towards other dogs when outside of the home. We found that Pumpkin’s life is lacking in firm boundaries and limitations and she would greatly benefit from more training and structured exercise to keep her mind and body active with more constructive pastimes than annoying her fur sibling. We will keep you posted on Pumpkin’s progress. 🐾 🐶 🐾

NEW FACES 🐶 🐶 🐶 : We are delighted to welcome Kate (Rottweiler), Floss (Wheaton Terrier) and Kobe (Labradoodle) to our pack walks this Thursday. 👉swap to see their faces 👉. We have met each of these dogs during our meet and greet appointment and they have all been gratefully accepted into our packs. Such lovely dogs with amazing natures who will go on to have great fun with their new pack mates over the coming weeks and months. BEHAVIOUR ASSESSMENT WITH HARRY THE BRITISH BULLDOG 🐶 : It was nice to see an old friend, Harry, earlier this week when we went to visit him and conduct a behaviour assessment. Harry is now 5 years old, he is very protective over his male owner, and has been lunging at other dogs, and sometimes people. We need to run some social training sessions with Harry and our dogs and hope to get this underway within the next few weeks. It will be good to see Harry around some calm and well balanced dogs to see what his reaction is… and what our dogs make of them. The Power of the Pack can be really important when starting any reactivity rehabilitation training and we are blessed to have the help of our dogs Sally and Billy for these cases. 🐾 🐶 🐾

INDI GRADUATES JUVENILE TRAINING 🎓🐶 🤩- Well done to Indi for graduating from our Juvenile Training Programme at the weekend. Indi is a young female Italian Greyhound, she has learned lots of new skills through her training programme but will need continued work to build her confidence and self esteem. She can get scared easily which makes it hard for her to concentrate and focus. Being high sensitive is a fairly typical trait for this breed of dog and will require consistent training and ongoing work in order to help bring out the best in this girl. 🙋‍♂️ Did you know? Italian Greyhounds are the smallest member of the Gazehounds (sighthounds). They are alert, playful and very affectionate toy companions and respond best to lots of praise and treats when training. 🐾 🌟🎓🎉🐾

WALK TRAINING WITH CUB 🐶 - We met up with our pack walking dog Cub (Neo Mastiff x Cane Corso) recently for a walk training session with his owner. Cub is one big boy so his owner wants to make sure she has him under control at all times. We have had the chance to get to know Cub over the last few weeks, since he began his pack walks with us, he has a great nature and is not reactive to other dogs… but he is big and strong and inquisitive to meet other dogs, which may not always be an appropriate response. We were able to teach some handling skills during this session, and to discuss what to look for in Cub’s body language when passing other dogs, as well as what to look for in the other dogs they may meet on their walk. It is always helpful to look at the other dog’s energy and intensity as well as their handler’s body language and the control they have over their dog(s). 🐾 🦮🐾

FAREWELL TO PHOENIX, LEO & PEPPA 🐶 - It has been lovely having these three gorgeous dogs back on our pack walks over the last few months while their owner was back on the GC. We are sad to say goodbye this time as we know this is a permanent farewell but we will keep in touch and look forward to hearing all your adventures in Melbourne. ELWOOD GRADUATES FROM OUR PUPPY TRAINING PROGRAMME 🎓🐶 ⭐️ - It has been a real pleasure training Elwood over the last 4 sessions. Elwood is such a fun guy with a real love for training and enjoying himself, he has heaps of energy and is a real joy to teach. Elwood is a Cattle Dog X so this explains his high energy, and also his intelligence. A huge well done to Elwood’s family who have done a lot of work with his training between classes, it has been wonderful to see how much Elwood has learned between sessions. We look forward to starting your Juvenile Classes in a few weeks time. 🎓🎉🐶🐾 ⭐️🐾

MEET HAZEL 🐶 - It was so good to meet Hazel for her first puppy training class last week. Hazel is a young female Labrador x Staffy. She has a lovely nature and is doing really well in her new family. Hazel lives with three older boys, so she has heaps of walks to look forward to as she grows up. Hazel’s family have had dogs in the past but it is a while since they have raised a puppy. That’s where we come in! 😊 Look forward to seeing you all soon for our next session. 🐾 🐶 🐾

KODA & RUBY PUPPY TRAINING 🐶 🐶 - A heartfelt well done to Koda and Ruby’s owners who have obviously been putting in so much time to consistently train these two gorgeous Cavoodle pups. 👏 Koda and Ruby have an amazing connection to their owners while training and because of this, they maintain a terrific focus on them during their sessions. This is what we want to see! Training a dog is not just about getting a dog to sit, lay down or come when called. When done well training a dog forges an amazing bond that helps build trust and confidence between a dog and their owner. This bond helps to foster a dog who is happy, contented, proud of themselves and loves to work for their family. So good to see, well done guys! 🐾 🐶 🐾 🐶

INDI JUVENILE TRAINING 🐶 - It was great to see Indi and her owner at the weekend for their 2nd Juvenile Training Class. It was great to see Indi a lot calmer and more able to focus than she was on our last session. It really looks like Indi is gaining in confidence and she really enjoyed our training session (and the treats) 😊. Working out what motivates dog for training is really important, for some it will be tasty treats, for others it will be praise and pats and for others it might be a reward with a game or a ball. Let’s all work on making training fun for our dogs, such positive reinforcement is super important for helping dogs grow in confidence and improve their skill sets. Well done guys, see you both soon. 🐾 👏 🐶 🐾
