DOZER NEEDS A FOSTER!
Dozer, the chocolate mix on the left, had another great day with RĆzy, black dog on the right. After our walk we took a break from the cold and wind and warmed up in the car. Dozer was playful and affectionate but listened when his trainer thought they were getting a little excited.
He's having some skin issues. Itâs becoming dry & cracked from kennel life. He's been there since before Christmas. Please, please, please consider fostering Dozer. He's been waiting so patiently for his chance!

HELLO EVERYONE. I hope you have not forgotten about me. I am STILL in the kennel, waiting for a foster or adopter to notice me. I work hard at my training every week. I am learning so, so much and having such a good time! But when training is over, I get lonely. I would really love a warm and cozy home I could rest in. Somewhere where I can show off all my training skills and get lots of love. I really love to be loved.
If you would like more information on my you can email [email protected].
HOW CAN YOU HELP ME IF YOU CAN'T FOSTER OR ADOPT ME? You can "like" and share my page. This way, the person(s) who is waiting for me will see I have been waiting right here all along.
Love,
Dozer <3
HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who generously donated to Andy's medical expenses recently! Our supporters answered the call with over $1,500 to support this pup. As you can see, Andy is working on his walking (and getting along marvelously with his feline friend) post surgery. We are so grateful for all of you out there that cared enough to donate â€

Meet Blue!
Before coming to DDR, Blue was a stray and spent some stressful time in a shelter. His history prior to that is unknown, but his behaviors tell a sad story. Blue suffers from fear aggression, and is very skeptical of anyone new. He's very nervous of hands coming toward his face or head, and reacts strongly when he feels threatened (which is a very low threshold for him). His fear and anxiety also make him very protective of his space, and he exhibits resource guarding behaviors. He is terrified of fireworks and loud sounds, and needs a safe, quiet space of his own where he can rest uninterrupted. Blue's skepticism of new people and dogs expresses itself on walks as well, where he is leash reactive, but he has been making small improvements toward learning how to stay calm and look to his handler for support on walks. To assist with his high anxiety levels and help him learn calm, appropriate behaviors through training, Blue is currently taking anti-anxiety medication which is starting to show positive improvements with his continued behavioral training.
The good news is, once someone has put in the time and patience with Blue, he is a very affectionate dog. He is smart, obedient, silly, and a lot of fun. He loves to play fetch, and can't get enough squeaky toys / tennis balls. He knows sit, down, stay, spin, touch, crate, and has even dipped his toe into agility training! Patience is key here - Blue is cute, and it will be hard to understand how a dog so cute can exhibit such intense reactions when triggered by his fears. It's highly likely you'll see some reactions from Blue as he figures out if he can trust you, and you figure out his body language and signs of discomfort. Blue's reactions range in intensity, but he has made contact when triggered, so his needs can't be ignored.
Following some simple rules with Blue really sets him up for success. Let Blue come to you - he loves affection and will ask for it often, but he gets very nervous about in

Meet Carla! This sweet girl loves people so she is looking for a family who will give her lots of attention! She is approximately 2 years old and is around 55 lbs. Though kitties are too interesting for Carla, she sure does like the company of other dogs! Dogs who are not too pushy would be best for Carla, as she does not appreciate being bullied around. She likes going on walks and will require at least some type of daily exercise to burn off some of her youngster energy. Treats are an excellent motivator for her and they will definitely help with training. In fact, they have proven to already be helpful as sweet Carla learned Sit with ease! At the top of her wishlist is toys, toys, and more toys! She loves to play and hopes to have so many toys in her new home that she has a hard time choosing which one to play with next. Do not miss out on this beautiful girl. She will win over your heart as soon as you meet her!
If you would like more information about Carla, contact Scott at [email protected].
***FOSTER NEEDED FOR NALA***
Sweet, Silly, Snugly Nala is coming up this weekend and does not have foster home.

Please email Michelle at [email protected] if you might be interested. More info below.

Meet Nala! What a bunch of love you are in for if you decide to add Nala to your family! Not only is she extremely affectionate, but she is also an expert cuddler! Nala is a playful 4-year-old Staffie mix who has the most expressive eyes and squishy little face! She will be stuck to you like glue and will want to follow you wherever you go! She enjoys toys, cuddling with stuffed animals, and wearing sweaters. She is not a fan of fetch but will be happy just to spend some time outside with you. Speaking of being outside, this sweet girl is definitely a lover of the outdoors! She likes going for walks, running around the yard, and rolling around in the grass! Being that it is still a little chilly, we have not seen a love of water or swimming just yet, but this Summer will be the true test. Though Nala is a quiet girl most of the time, she will have you cracking up when she starts barking or âtalkingâ to get your attention. She is such a silly girl with the best personality! We canât wait to see her have the family she deserves!

WHAT IS KENNEL FATIGUE?
Kennel fatigue has many symptoms, ranging from erratic over excited behavior to shutting down. It tends to happen when a dog has been in a kennel for a long period of time.
We have amazing kennels we utilize as needed but they can not possibly meet the needs of each individual dog over a long period of time. For an example, a retriever may really enjoy playing in doggy day care, but without out door exploration, retrieving, swimming, etc. he or she may become stressed or even board because it's not enough stimulation. Then their are the cases of dogs that find the kennel over stimulating.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
You can help by giving our dogs in the kennel a break. We have dogs in the kennel, with no known behavioral issues, who have not had anyone step up to foster them yet for more than a few weeks now. Even if you can only give them a break for a few days or a week, it's better than no break at all
***WHY YOU'RE SO IMPORTANT***
By doing this you are collecting valuable data about the dog that will be used to place the dog in the most appropriate home. You are also exposing the dog to friends, family, and strangers, that will absolutely increase the dogs chances of being adopted. Most importantly you are giving them that one on one love and human interactions that domesticated animals need, just like us humans, for mental clarity. Think about how spending time with your dog makes you feel.

TODAY! DOG LEFT IN CAR WITH WINDOWS HALF DOWN!
Double Dog Rescue Isn't Just Talk... We Take Action!!!
I was at the Garden Center at Lowe's and heard a dog barking. I stormed outside and asked where the dog was. Eight people were looking on in disgust, talking about it amongst themselves and told me how dangerous it was to leave a dog in the car even if the windows were half way down. They said, "Call the police", "Take the License Plate and Have Them Announce Over the Intercom".
Without answering, I googled the local police dept, called them, and stood by the car to watch the dog. He/she was barking and making squeaking noises. If the police took too long, I carry something in my car to break a car window if neccessary.
The police arrived. He basically said to me, "Mam, the window are down". "Are You Kidding Me?", I said loudly. Eventually the owner came out and this is what happened.
TAKE AWAY: People are all talk and no action, even when they know what is the right course of action.
National Peanut Butter Lovers Day!
Enjoy a short video of adoptable Dixon loving his peanut butter!
Donât forget when choosing a peanut butter for your dog, look for one without xylitol!
