Bees will fly at 40°F! Here in Grand Junction, we’ve had oscillating weather with a warmer forecast next week. It will be warm enough for them to try and forage, burning plenty of resources looking for nectar that is not there. I’ve checked on emergency feed and replaced where necessary. I happened to notice I failed to ventilate one of my inner covers. Mold was starting to grow on the inner cover. I remedied this by placing spacers (plastic corrugated pieces on each corner of the lid).

When it’s warm enough, the bees still remain active and resourceful! This is why I don’t clean up my stored boxes unless I absolutely have to.
