** THANK YOU to three past Adopters who donated for Cornbread's Vet Bills! They have supported this rescue many times. We have enough to pay his bills. God bless you!!***
CORNBREAD who had a Mast Cell Tumor removed in January was rushed again to the Vet. His first trip was on 5/15. Xrays found he had Spondylosis and constipation. Yesterday he collapsed again and his gums/tongue were white/blue and he was so weak. By the time we got to see the Vet after waiting 2 hours in the van, his color was better and nothing was found to be the cause. Xrays showed no constipation this time. So we headed back to his Foster Home and 5 miles down the road he collapsed in his crate and was unresponsive. His gums/tongue were white/blue and he was not doing well. We rushed back to the Vet that was still open and Dr. Randy was able to evaluate him during an episode. He got an EKG and Ultrasound. He was diagnosed with Ventricular Tachycardia. We have personally lost Boxers at ages 6, 7, and 8 with Cardiomyopathy and one Boxer with Congestive Heart Failure, but not with this diagnosis. We started him on 2 heart meds last night and so far he has not had another episode. We are closely monitoring him. He will be only 5 years old on 7/1 and our hearts are broken. This is a genetic issue. We love you sweet loving Cornbread!! Please say a prayer that the meds will help his rapid heartbeat and give us a lot more time with him! Special thanks to Dr. Murray at Westridge Animal Hospital for working so hard to figure out what is going on.
Roxy another Foster in our home and Cornbread are BFF's and she is not leaving his side. She is not sure what is going on and we understand that feeling.
