FedEx gets way too overloaded and the risk of lost and delayed boxes sky rockets. So during this period we offer 60 day payment plans with 20% down on all animals and 15% off local pickups! Everyone is out and shed from the Pastel Calico Desert Ghost x Hypo pinstripe clutch! And boy am I boy heavy! So as soon as we get some meals in them a few will be headed over to looking for new places. Was really hoping for more girls but that's just how things go sometimes.

ALERT: Bill to Add Herps to the Animal Welfare Act

On September 12, Representative Betty McCollum introduced HR9571, which will "amend the Animal Welfare Act to include cold-blooded species as animals, and for other purposes." This will add reptiles, amphibians, fish, and cephalopods "as animals" under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), meaning the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) must develop rules to regulate these animals. Basically, the USDA would now be required to license and inspect facilities and breeders with these animals. Businesses would need to comply with new USDA regulations or lose their licenses. The USDA recently began inspecting and licensing aviculturists (bird breeders). The bill has been assigned to the House Agriculture Committee. We will post more information when available.

#workpost I work with big country snake removal. Don't play with copperheads kids 😉 Little thrown together video of a job we did out near Coleman. I didn't record every snake I picked up but recorded several. Copperheads are very difficult to "remove" from an area because they do not congregate in specific dens or locations like rattlesnakes will when they den up in the winter. They also travel a lot further for food and other resources than rattlesnakes typically do. The owners of this particular property had already killed 32 copperheads in the previous couple of weeks we picked up another 27 or so snakes in one night. This property is a place they just travel through in large numbers to get from one resource to another. They are not all just living on this specific property. They have young children and pets they are concerned about. They are okay with any non venomous in the area but do not want the copperheads. We normally cannot do much to help a situation like this by just removing the animals because it's the environment that needs to be changed to make it less suitable for the snakes to want to use. However we did save these snakes from meeting a quick end with a shovel and give the owners a clear plan on what changes the property will need to undergo to create less encounters with the copperheads.
