Today, we mourn the loss of Luca, a K-9 with the DeSoto County Sheriff's Department, who was killed in the line of duty during an officer-involved shooting incident.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his handler and the entire department during this time.

Luca was a true hero, and his bravery and service will never be forgotten.

Dogs, and people. I need things.

I know that I posted about dogs not too long ago. I mentioned that there seemed to be more out here lately…well, now there are definitely more. These pets are generally super-well cared for, so I’m not saying that there’s an issue, but I could use some dog-related items. I worry that as winter settles in, people will have a harder time obtaining food, for the dogs as well as themselves. So I’m asking for dog food. If you have or are willing to purchase some, I’d like to always have easy open cans of dog food and small bags of dry dog food to distribute for if/when there’s a need. I don’t think I have the space in the vehicle for giant bags. So please, no giant bags. There are too many other things that I need to have available in the vehicle and it all takes up space. I also move a lot of people around, so I always reserve space to carry their belongings.

On the people side, I always need warm sleeping bags and tents.
