Posting on Karen’s passing by her husband, Larry

My beloved companion, friend, lover, and wife, Karen, passed away Saturday evening, January 24th, at Memorial Regional in Hollywood from pulmonary emboli associated with her stage 4 lung cancer. The preceding 6 weeks were spent with me as the only caregiver, with much help from Shoshana (our puppy au pair and friend of 16 years), and the time we spent together at the end was special. We talked, cuddled, and fought (a little), but it was the most intimate time of our 45 years together. Her entering hospice was her desire, and her passing was gentle and peaceful. Karen was 76 years old, and one would never know it with her energy. The burial at Lakeside was last Tuesday, and I chose to be the only attendee as we started out just she and I, and it felt right to “end” that. I know it is not the end, as I feel her presence and know she is happy and at peace
