Our hearts are hurting here as we said see you again someday to our Meadow. MEADOW was born 11.11.14 and was a puppy that I had asked for nearly 2 years before in a phone call to Carol Connor.
In 1999 we bred our first Labrador, Millie, to Susan Burton's Kruise, CH Hunt Club Show-N-Tail Risky Business. Millie was so Smart and competitive in the Obedience Rings. The brains continued in the breeding we did with our keeper, Hearthside's Dives Right In~ Macy, and she was shown in Advance Obedience levels by our children. Millie was Top Dog 2003 with our Daughter at the Indiana State Fair 4H Dog Show. (Prior to class division in that category).
When I saw Carol had Blizzard, CH Sylvan Meadows Black Rock Blizzard and CH Sylvan Meadows Black Rock Holli Berri in her kennel, I immediately reach out to her as those two pedigrees were very very similar to our Macy from Kruise x Millie. Told Carol, "If you ever breed these two, I would like a nice B!+$h.
On a cold January day Dale Brummett, Black Rock, called me and said he had the litter and I could come get my girl. Early the next morning I was there! Didn't even ask John! I wanted her for me! That morning my life changed. She was a handful but I loved everything about her. We had other Labradors here, Big Mac and Harvard! They became very good friends.
We were empty nesters at that time and I decided after 15 years since the last litter that Conformation will be the goal. Our kids were no longer in 4H. What a journey. Meadow did have a point toward her Championship Title. She sailed through the steps for her CGCA title. She had drive like no other, but loved the game of keep away! She knew no strangers. Loved everyone. A great producer. Was bred to CH Fortune's Blueprint CH Fortune's Jailbreak, and CH Banbury Dickendall Miss Me Now SH. We have her Grand Daughters, CH Hearthside's Last Night WC, Hearthside's Boogie Nights WC TKN and Hearthside's Caribbean Seabreeze here and 3 Great Grands, so I find some comfort with that!
MEADOW never had an ear infection, went to the vet once for a weird eye trauma. But other than that, the bladder cancer hit us hard to cut away some years we still expected to have with her. She made her mark on our world here at Hearthside and we could not have picked a better foundation. Overwhelmed with gratitude for Carol and Dale to trust us with her. Sylvan Meadows Meadow At Hearthside CGCA was a wonderful show prospect and legacy for us. God Speed My Girl, we love you and will see you again.

We started the month off hanging with the Badger Labrador Retriever Club and trying to get a few ring shy bred by pups out there! I can't say it was as successful as we hoped it would be but regardless they all moved.around the ring. Yet they were hesitant to let the judges touch them! Nancy Poplin made me giggle and go woohooo and Lisa Allen really like Hearthside's Caribbean Seabreeze ~ Breeze.. but Breeze was reluctant to let her get close. OUTSIDE the ring, Lisa was her friend! They are young, we have some time. I thought Hearthside's Amber Waves of Grain ~Amber did better at Indy, especially at exam.. curve balls! Hearthside's Boogie Nights~ Skye has 8 points so far and we have not had her out since August, she is one that has so much energy and was super busy in the ring! Hearthside's Knight~ Warrior was his usual happy self and won both classes today. Not ready to play ball with the big boys in WD. And then there is Hearthside's Barista Beauregard who we pulled as he was limping. Always something! Thanks Badger, great show! Sandy Bethke

Stud Dog Auction highlights coming up! Bidding may begin Wednesday March 19th and ends at noon on Sunday March 23.

~ PM me with questions and bids. You may bid at the show, have a proxy on site at the show (I am happy to proxy). We require bi***es to be dilute clear with Labrador Breed appropriate clearances.

Swig x Nutmeg and MIke x Eve babies split the 6 shows and for the no-shows for a while and first time out for Betsy and Amber, they did real well. Tipsy and Topper looked great too! Towncroft Nutmeg At Hearthside WC was awarded Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite and Owner Handled Best of Breed from her uncontested Open Chocolate Class today at Echo Hills Kennel Club in Ohio. Hearthside's Boogie Nights FTN ~ Sky in her uncontested Bred-By puppy class was Reserve Winners. Tameric Elegance Never Fades At Hearthside ~Elly Won her Open Black class ReRe was uncontested in 12-18.and handled by her Breeder Kimberly Topping Mikesell. Thank you to the Club and Judges for 4 great days! Thank you to the the beautiful handler, who I did not get her name, she is in the pink dress in the background. And the GSP Owner Handler who showed Nutmeg in winners. HUGE thank you to Kimberly for hanging out togethee! Many thanks! Congrats Burrito and company for your BOB win.
