Meet Russell.
Russell is a tiny cross chi possibly with a jack Russell - he is very small.

He is around 7/8 yrs old and was an unclaimed stray 💔

Russell is a lovely little chap, no problem at all. He is dog friendly and he loves sitting on your knee for a cuddle.

Can you offer Russell his forever home?

NOW ADOPTED 🎉🥳

🐾❤ Mack needs a loving home home!! ❤🐾

Mack is a 14 week old male cocker spaniel puppy with a cleft palate. He is fully vaccinated, chipped and parasite treated and has no other health complications.
He is the best behaved boy and wants to be friends with everyone he meets. He has been well socialised with people ,children, dogs, and cats. He is good on a lead, and is training nicely.

Mack would prefer to be in a home where there is at least one neutered resident dog (evidence of neutering will be required)
He can be left short periods of time but be mindful he is a puppy and should not be left for long periods of time. He can live with children aged 10+ (for our insurance)

There are currently no concerning complications with his cleft but there is always a chance he could develop complications in the future.

Dogs with cleft palates are at an increased risk of developing respiratory infections/ infections of the cleft.

They also have an increased risk of aspiration and the development of pneumonia if food/ liquid enters through the cleft and into the lungs.

As with many cleft palate dogs they are prone to having bad breath caused by food particles that accumulate around the cleft and a lot of people would find this extremely off putting.

Dogs with cleft palates require a diet of dry biscuits only as wet food can get stuck in the cleft and cause problems.

If complications continually arise, in a small number of cases surgery may be recommended once the pup is fully matured and developed. Any potential owner will need to understand that this condition is pre-existing and not insurable and be prepared for this possible future expense they may incur.

Mack does get food stuck in his cleft and this needs to be closely monitoring. He has adapted to this and is able to clear his nasal passage himself to a point. His breath can smell and we have found that it is worse for a few days and then he manages to clear it and he is fine in-between but it's essential that his new owners are able to cope with this and still fully include him in family life.
We are looking for a home for Mack with people who are cleft savvy or can demonstrate they have done extensive research into the condition and have managed other chronic health issues in pets.

He will be adopted on a neutering recall contract and will need to be neutered at 6 months old. His adopter will need to be flexible and able to bring him to Melling for neutering mid-week. This is not negotiable.

Mack is in foster in Skelmersdale. For any adoption enquiries, please complete and adoption enquiry form by following this link;

How many of these have you heard?

Hello, we are some of the kittens in the rescue's care at the moment (either in the cattery, or in foster homes with our mums). And we're asking if anyone can buy us a few dinners, please! Some of us are gradually getting used to solid food, and others aren't old enough for that yet, so our mums need lots of extra meals to make enough milk for us. Can you help to keep our tiny tummies full?

The rescue's wishlist has a few things we'd like (https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/registry/wishlist/2RUG85QHD5YU9/ref=cm_wl_sortbar_o_page_2?ie=UTF8&page=2). We'd also be happy with Whiskas kitten food, but Amazon is making that harder to buy/wishlist for people without Prime.

This isn't an adoption post, we're all too young for that!

I will be placing an order in the next few hours x

DESPERATE FOOD APPEAL 🚨

🐾WE DO NOT NEED DRY FOOD 🐾

We currently only have approx 2 days worth of food left for our dogs, we really need donations of Jelly/Loaf or Tripe dog food. We do NOT use gravy as it tends to upset the dogs tummies so kindly ask to avoid this if possible 🙏🏼

We have updated our wishlist however are more than grateful if you would rather buy yourself from a local store/supermarket as they may be cheaper. We use in particular Butchers, Pedigree, Chappie and any other good quality tinned food.

If you can not donate please can you share, the situation is quite dire at the moment and need as much help as possible 💔

Please read, dog grooming is still unregulated.
Anyone can open a salon unskilled, uninsured and charge you for the honor

Public Statement: The Groomers Spotlight

Dog grooming is a highly skilled and potentially dangerous profession that requires expertise and knowledge to ensure the well-being of our furry companions. Unlike many other occupations, dog grooming remains unregulated in the UK, allowing anyone to open a grooming salon and offer their services, regardless of their qualifications or experience. To address this issue and promote the professionalism of the industry, The Groomers Spotlight has been established as a register of qualified groomers who have achieved industry-recognised qualifications.

The Groomers Spotlight recognises the invaluable contributions of both qualified and experienced groomers who have honed their skills through years of practice. It acknowledges that there are talented groomers who lack formal qualifications but possess extensive knowledge and expertise. However, to safeguard the integrity of the industry and ensure the highest standards of care, The Groomers Spotlight encourages unqualified groomers to consider pursuing a fast track course to attain the necessary qualification.

Critics of The Groomers Spotlight may argue that membership is unnecessary, questioning the value of qualifications in an unregulated field. However, it is important to note that many professional industries maintain registers or associations to establish minimum education standards and promote the recognition of skilled practitioners. The dog grooming industry should be no different. By embracing qualifications and encouraging groomers to enhance their knowledge, The Groomers Spotlight aims to elevate the perception of dog grooming from a hobbyist activity to a respected professional occupation.

The absence of regulation within the dog grooming industry poses risks to both groomers and the animals they care for. A lack of training and knowledge can lead to accidents, inadequate care, and potential harm to pets. By supporting the acquisition of industry-recognized qualifications, The Groomers Spotlight strives to protect the well-being of our beloved four-legged friends and ensure they receive the highest quality of grooming services.

The Groomers Spotlight serves as a platform to promote qualified groomers, offering a transparent directory of professionals who have achieved the necessary industry-recognised qualifications. Pet owners can find peace of mind knowing that the groomer they choose from The Groomers Spotlight possesses the appropriate expertise and training to provide safe and exceptional care for their furry companions.

We extend our gratitude to all those who join us in our mission to uphold the highest standards of care for our furry friends. Together, we can strengthen the dog grooming industry, protect its integrity, and ensure that every pet receives the exceptional grooming they deserve. Thank you for your support in making dog grooming a respected and professional occupation.

💔Desperate Urgent Appeal 💔
Please help us to save the life of adorable puppy, Hamish, he will die if he doesn’t have emergency operation for a liver shunt.

This darling little boy was abandoned tiny, dehydrated, barely moving . We suspect he was one of a litter deliberately bred for money and was thrown out when he was ill .
We were approached by a vet asking for a place for him. At that time it wasn’t known that he had a serious condition requiring surgery. Hamish went to be fostered by one of Trustees and with all the devoted care and attention he became a happy bouncy boy almost ready for adoption.
Sadly, a few weeks later, he went down hill and the true serious nature of his condition became apparent.
Our Vets diagnosed liver shunt issues, that can only be resolved by specialist surgery.

This was not something that our vets could do and Specialist Vets, that could save his life, are asking for an enormous sum of money, £6000 They can save him and he can have a full and happy life but only if we raise the funds 😔

We have just paid £24,000 for two months Vet bills, due to the huge numbers of animals we have saved, helped and vaccinated and neutered, all given the best of care by our own Vet . You see them posted every night .

We had to pay a specialist Vet £6000 a few weeks ago to help Ice the little Bull dog.

We are now really struggling but as with all the animals we help, we do not forsake them when they need us most . 💔

Hamish is a sweet gentle boy, he wants to live , we want him to live and he can go on to have a normal life, so we have to step up for him .
PLEASE HELP US SAVE HAMISH every pound really does matter ♥️♥️

⭐️We have created a special Enthuse link to make a donation for Hamish. Please Gift Aid your donation of you are a tax payer.

Please meet Astro, a 10 month old XL Bully boy.

Astro had a bad start to life when he came to his first real home he was only 14kg which was massively underweight for his age and breed. He is a big boy and still has plenty of room to grow as he is still only 10 months old.

He has some skin issues but a antihistamine keeps that under control especially in summer.
He has been well socialised, play dates which he didn't seem to enjoy he doesn't like more than a few dogs at a time. He gets on well with certain dogs but not all dogs, he tends not to enjoy being around small, elderly or vulnerable dogs.
He loves the spotlight and unfortunately due to this he has not fitted in to his home with other pets so needs to be the only pet in the house with no children and someone to be there the majority of the day for him to thrive.
He is not good with small pets.
He loves rope toys but prefers to play alone and not tug a war as he can sometimes get overly excited and/or annoyed he can't win and mouth your hand or body.
He also loves sticks and can jump on command to get them.

He is an intelligent boy but can be very stubborn. He knows all basic commands.
He is crate trained, walks well on lead although sometimes can be fussy with who he walks with, he also needs a bit of encouragement going up and down stairs still.
His walks have now built up to 1.5 hours but he can't manage any longer than this and his activity levels are medium.
He has his chew toys for at least an hour a day split up into two parts of the day he also enjoys bordom breakers such as refillable hooves and marrowbones.
He is toilet trained and can hold himself over night for up to 12 hours but has accidents from time to time. He can also be left alone in his crate for a few hours and be happy with a toy or boredom breaker in there with him or after a walk.
His recall is good when no people or other dogs are around but if there is distractions he will not listen.

Other than his Skin, Astro has no further health problems. Sadly due greedy breeding he was bred poorly and does have an enlarged head but this causes his no issues.

If you think you can offer him a forever home, please apply ⬇️
